  1. Yesterday
  2. Just got back from a gig where I used one of these, great sounding cab.
  3. Shameless plug, here on the market I am selling a cheap DIY Mastotron clone I made that has a switch for warming up / bassing up the tone. 😁 Not exactly a blend, but it's the next best thing for bass. But I don't know if it's "creamy" though, or even if we consider the same things "creamy" 😉
  4. If I recall correctly our very own @Cat Burrito used to have a Jazz with Precision neck - I’ve not dreamt this have I Tim?
  5. I think that’s great, it might not seem like much to the bands but things like this have a real impact on fans, well done to them (and all bands who do similar).
  6. Just got back from a Spacewasters gig at The Water Rats, Kings Cross - 2nd gig we’ve done there in 6 days. Was a 2 band bill tonight, making the logistics of the evening much easier, us opening up with an hours set. The headliners allowed us to use their kit & cabs so we only needed to bring guitars, cymbals, snare, pedals & amps, the bass cab was a rather nice Markbass 410 which sounded great with my Fender JMJ Mustang and Ashdown RM500. We played very well, it was our guitarist Joeys last gig with us and it was a nice end to his tenure in the band. Home by midnight with a McDs, and lesson learned from last week, black New Balance trainers this time, much better.
  7. They currently have another one at the same £749 in the same finish. They also have one in the charcoal grey finish @ £1,199.00 so I'm a bit suspicious of the price difference based on what you went through.Apparently it will be shipped to the customer directly from Cort so it's not even available to try in a showroom first. I tried one roughly when you started this thread last year and it was packed with manufacturing defects.
  8. Hi All, Genuine rare US-made Musicman Sub for sale. 4 string, passive. Comes with a soft gig bag with assorted spare strings and a strap. Selling because I no longer use it. Good bits: Good usable condition Fantastic tone Recent strings Intonation good It does NOT have the original plastic pickguard with the metallic pattern on it - I hated this and replaced it with a far nicer looking item. There is a chip on the main body near the volume pots as you can see in the photos. There are a few marks on the back of the neck too. Neither of these have any impact on the feel and sound of the instrument - it's a gorgeous piece of kit and comes from a relatively small run of 'Sport Utility Basses' (hence SUB) apparently Musicman lost money on these and didn't make them for long. Would prefer to meet up rather than post 'cos it's heavy! Looking for £650 ono. Reduced - £595

  9. I've literally just put a precision neck on my jazz as I'm really struggling with the toothpick feel of the neck, but I love the sound of single coils and the playing position of a jazz. It's probably a lot more common than you think.
  10. Kasleder Freaky Stone, GE based fuzz face designed/optimised for bass, specifically shortscale hollowbodies with flats.
  11. Love machine - Girls Aloud don't judge... 🤪
  12. Nice condition assumed rotosound flat wound strings taken from a Rick 4003 so cut for 2 aside headstocks but with plenty of silk left (probably not enough for 4 a side)
  13. Roswell copy of Seymour Duncan SPB3 quarter pounder. High output P bass pickup (8.53kOhm) Looks in great condition.
  14. Fender pure vintage 74 reissue pickups in great condition. Bought for a project and then didn't bother. Perfect working order. 7.91 kOhm bridge and 7.25 kOhm neck.

  15. My approach varies depending on how well I know the song (in a general sense). I recently learned Jean Genie. I've busked it at jams a few times and know the structure simply from having heard it a lot. I had to learn the proper details, especially around the chorus but it was fairly straightforward. On the other hand although I 'knew' keep on running it was not well and I was surprised by the complexities in the verse and chorus... especially the changes in syncopation. Plus there were several different tabs so I had to decide which was most accurate. I broke it down into sections. I did one ir two play throughs at half tempo to make sure I had the rhythm right. Then it was brute force... start at the beginning and see how far I could get. My two rules... 1) if I keep making a mistake stop, slow right down and get it righ. Practising a mistake is never a good idea. 2) walk away, ideally sleep on it. You will always be better on returning to . Combine the two approaches. Accuracy at the expense of speed, plus a chance for your brain to process the learning = much faster and more accurate next time around. So my learning is usually many songs in parallel, rather than one at a time. Currently learning 34 songs - a soundcheck, two 15 song sets, and 3 encores. Luckily most I already know or am familiar with and many (but not all) are reasonably straightforward.
  16. I found the MXR Blowtorch to be particularly nuts, and they can be found quite cheap. Was going to ditch mine until I was just messing about with it and put the middle and treble on full (frequency switch to the right, can’t remember the numbers), bass at about 11 o’clock. And you can blend it too. Powerful and very, very fuzzy.
  17. I have a 4-string, bolt-on version of this and will say that it's a fantastic bass. Some might say that the rounder body shape is more comfortable than the angular S-II style. I find that there is a little more growl compared to its graphite-necked siblings while still being capable of bright zingy tones if desired. Someone will be getting a lot of bass for the money. GLWTS
  18. The 'Back To Oakland' album - Tower of Power with Rocco right in the pocket:
  19. Oo! In that case I'll take two of them.
  20. Google translate strikes again. With apologies if the intended humour has just gone over my head, I’ll defend the seller’s entirely appropriate use of the German word Koffer in this context to mean hard case (as well as its more common meaning of suitcase). Though maybe I shouldn’t be tangling with someone with self-confessedly big hands…
  21. I bought this so that I could run both outputs of my Yamaha Attitude into it at the same time. However, I’m using my Spector into a B7k for pretty much everything now so I’ve taken this off my board. It’s very flexible, the ability to dial clean tone back into your signal means no bottom end loss. Comes with original box and instructions. Has a couple of very small paint chips, which I’ve tried to capture in the photos, but works perfectly. Has Velcro on the underside. Price includes UK Mainland postage
  22. That'll be £3000 please, Sir.
