Thanks (sorry for the late reply - I've only just seen your response). I've still got my eye on getting a Ray 34 Purple Sparkle: I've got to admit though, it is almost entirely down to the paint-job that I want one. I've always wanted a purple sparkle funk-machine! (What's more funky than Purple Sparkle Stingray? Nothing!....well, apart from perhaps a Purple Sparkly Bootsy Space Bass, but I don't think anyone apart from Bootsy can pull off that level of funk!) My main 'wants' for a Bass = Light, Passive, front facing jacks, headless, Purple Sparkle. ....so it seems that the paint job might make up for the other things!

IMHO £3-4K or if you actually want to sell it £2.5-3K, but if its that beat up less, but thats my opinion of course (i repaired some dings on mine it's not as big a deal as Headless USA will have you think, with the right stuff)

Rabbie started following Kala U bass electric - new with Flatwounds
-
Great wee thing I literally just bought new, because I thought I was going to use it in my workshops with primary schools, alas…everyone likes the double bass better, so I’m selling the Kala. I was amazed at how good this sounds, especially since I pair it with Flatwound strings (that cost me £65!)… only tiny imperfection is a hairline mark that does not even go through the varnish (photographed). Comes with original foam bag, in original box, with the original round wound strings shoved in the bag as well, in case you prefer them to flats. postage no problem (UK only).

Non-standard tuners on mass-produced basses, that I can't simply drop a Hipshot XTender in without drilling (looking at you, Squier!). Pickup selector switches - give me a blend or two volume pots I prefer maple fretboards because I like the look - I don't buy into maple sounds brighter and rosewood sounds darker Boutique curly maple tops that look like the instrument has been smeared in poo (Cort GB Modern) When people say "it plays like butter". Sounds horrible to me - all greasy and slimy!

I completely agree. This fella is a committed criminal who continues to offend. He’s a scumbag. I am playing in a band later with someone who was convicted of robbery. He was more a victim of circumstance and it was 30 years ago. Guess you have to believe in the capacity for change. My dad’s house was repointed by a childhood friend who went to prison for attempted murder. A lovely fella who had a breakdown and did something entirely out of character.

I need to find some more demos. -

*** I case anyone is confused by another similar ad, these pickups were sold but the buyer misread the dimensions and the purchase had to be reversed, however by then I could not re-edit the original advert. Hope this makes sense! *** These pickups were used just once but didn’t suit the bass that they went into, so they are ‘as new’. A new set of these will set you back £150 from Bass Direct, I’m asking just £100 delivered free in mainland UK. Classic J-Bass pickups give you enhanced treble response and narrower apertures for incisive attack and focused sound without harshness. This added treble definition vastly increases the tonal range available in active or passive instruments. When you dig in, they are responsive and growly. When you pull back, they are clear and sweet. And they’ll take any slapping and popping you want to give them. The Classic Bass series is popular with progressive, jazz, gospel, and metal musicians where articulation is critical. They are sweat-proof and won’t crackle and thud when you touch them or hit them with the strings. If you play a wide variety of music, you know you need some pro-level pickups, but you don’t want to do a big upgrade project, Classic Bass pickups are a great choice. They are passive and will work with your current electronics in most basses. These dual inline-coil pickups are hum-cancelling even soloing the neck or bridge pickup, so they are well suited for studio or stage. These are Fender 'American Standard' size

SimonK started following Pedalboard audio routing : patch panel?
-
My bass and acoustic pedal boards are pretty linear, but for my electric guitar pedalboard I use a 4-cable multi-core and a Bright Onion patch box so that I can easily switch pedals before and after the preamp.

The Alex Blake bass part for the tune '(You Must) Meet Benny Bailey' from the 1985 Grammy Award winning 'Vocalese' album. Great arranging and some great bass performances across the whole record but this one swings like a mofo! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/you-must-meet-benny-bailey-the-manhattan-transfer/

Hi: We've just moved in to a house; I need you to build an extension within a month, starting with planning permission. -or- Hi: We've an offer on a house and if it's accepted I'll need you to commit to building an extension within a month of moving in, but we don't have a date for that and since we don't own the property we don't yet have planning permission. -
See also champ, colcannon, bubble and squeak, and about a hundred other things probably - mostly from cold/wet/inhospitable places no doubt.

In theory a decent idea. However in practice, especially for live use, every additional connection adds another point of potential failure and a patch bay will add 2 for every device connected to it. Also connections that are made and broken on a regular basis tend to be the ones that fail first. If you find yourself changing the routings you use on your pedal board a lot, there are two things you may want to look at: 1. Have your patch bay normalised so that the most commonly used configuration is hard wired into it without needing any additional patch cables. 2. Look at one of the MIDI controlled routing systems where all your devices are attached to a master controller unit and the various routing are made from that.

Most decent building contractors have a waiting list of at least 6 months. A tax on property over £500K may sort this out though particularly in London and the South East. -
