    When I was a kid we all tuned to the A on one guitar and then tuned our own instruments, in my case using the fifth fret method. We were no doubt well off concert but at least we were all in tune with one another. That all went sour when the soul band was joined by a couple of sax players. But I don’t think anyone noticed.

    I've had the bass about eight years and it's been fine, but recently moved from a cold drafty Victorian house to a more modern place with better insulation, so I'm guessing that's why the wood has moved.

    When I am learning new songs, I like making a playlist with them so that I listen to them frequently... in the car, while at work... it's not as efficient as actually trying to memorise it, but it's very low effort and it's amazing how much your brain can pick up without really trying. Of course, that's in addition to actual practice

    Just to confirm this is a ‘Made in Germany’ bass. It is a lovely weight too at just 7.9lbs (as per Mark at Classic and Cool), making it the lightest Precision style bass I have ever owned.

    Pair of Marshall Guv’nors up for grabs. On the left is the original MK1, made in England model, on the right, the slightly later (but still vintage) Korean model, including box. Both are well used (MIE model especially) but both still working well and sound great. The occasional crackle from a knob (they are both 30+ years old) but nothing majorly affecting use. £150 each, including uk postage.

    I suppose a major Specials fan who plays bass could buy it and it ends up as their number one bass that they play every day and will cherish. I think £20k is steep for any bass but to someone that could be doable. If a Bruce Foxton or JJ Burnel owned Precision came up that had been used in their original work then I`d be tempted, however I already have my fave bass so it would be a waste for me as nothing replaces that.

    This is pretty normal on basses and cellos. It just needs gluing and clamping. It's almost regular maintenance ( regular being decade hopefully). My (all wood) cello had it several times, especially when I lived in South Korea with 5% humidity. A £10,000 bass I borrowed from Tim Tofts had a side split like that ( would have been fixed if I'd bought it ).q

    Great looking bass, and IIRC, they sound absolutely fantastic, courtesy of those Darkstar pick ups. Only time I can recall seeing/hearing one in action was some years ago at one of the many South East Bass Bashes when they were held in Addlestone... It belonged to @obbm I believe. Anyway, best of luck with the sale! 👍 😊

    It’s £20,000 for bragging rights on a non original Fender bass you can buy for much less elsewhere. It’s just publicity for the auction.

    The bits arrived, but I have not yet looked at them with any intent or plans. It is currently a box full of components, and a small processor, which I can wire together to make lights flash, and buzzers buzz. Only once I have learnt how to do that, and how to create 13 independent switches, will I add a midimuso chip, to generate MIDI signals.
