  1. Past hour
  2. I commuted three or four times a week from Birmingham to uni in London for three years, with my bass in a gig bag and assorted other stuff. I've even traveled several times with a double bass. I've honestly, never had an issue.
  3. I'll be wearing some sort of shoes and pants on the train... As for making space on the train, if the trews don't do it the after effects of my baked beans, eggs and vinegar diet will. However, I'm in Blackpool for the entire 4 days of Rebellion, and as everybody knows, punk is just one bit fashion show which means new outfits at least every day. So that's the Sparklebutt silver spangly kecks with the biker boots, the zebra kecks and matching creepers, the snakeskin kecks with leopard print creepers, the Indian Project zips'n'pockets comfy strides (3 pairs in different colours) with co-ordinated 5-10 approach boots and offensive t-shirts to match. I feel I may have to bring a servant/dresser as well.
  4. Reduced to £850 collected, for a little while. Then it's under the bed for a year or two.
  5. I also failed to take in to account the rivets holding the transformer to the chassis, so I’ll just have to make a crash case. No biggy, it’s all learning. Mrs Turgh says I seem happiest when I’m cutting wood! 😂 Tip that I discovered (but is probably widely known): the circular saw wasn’t flowing as I’d like, so I rubbed a candle on the bottom and side of the guide rail - now it glides along! Wood cut for the cab. Will pop to B&Q later for another sheet for the baffle and the 2nd anttempt amp sleeve.
  6. That would ensure he gets a very large personal space around him. Solves two problems in one. I applaud your ingenuity
  7. Any suggestions for the matt finish, brands that work please? I didn't know that 2000 grade wet and dry would matt a shiny surface down. That's good to know I'll not spray outside now 😊
  8. I've never felt the need to measure but the action on this Dean Exotica was so high that I could slip a pencil between the strings and the fretboard at the 12th fret. Put on a set of D'Addario black tapewounds and voila!
  9. I swear that guitarist was miming for most of that clip.
  10. Any areas that are shiny can be restored back to a matt finish by using very fine wet & dry paper (2000 grade). You wont see any scratches, especially if you use the paper dipped first in weak soapy water and keep the surface moist while working.
  11. this is my new Torzal on a stand), but the sound is identical, it will give you some idea, it outside & a iPhone(ignore the singing ..ha)
  12. Yes...thx for your interest...Bernard
  13. Bloody hell, if the Zeps need money, why don't they just sell their DNA in cans? If it's good enough for Ozzie.... Ozzy Osbourne is selling his DNA in Liquid Death cans for $450 each | The Independent
  14. Lilac Wine - Elkie Brookes
  15. I have a herniated disc between my C5 and C6 vertebrae, so upper backache is a thing. I had physiotherapy, and luckily I got a guy who was experienced with musicians and explained some of how the weight of an instrument is distributed. Based on his suggestions, I raised my bass up from just above waist height to mid-belly height and it's made a big difference. In terms of the biomechanics, it's now sitting in a spot where the muscles in the middle of your back are compensating your balance instead of the muscles higher up your back and in your shoulders. Also, the lower you have your bass, the more work your shoulders and upper back have to do because of the position of your arms. You have to raise your elbows a little to keep your wrists straight, but not a lot, and it becomes second nature after a while. Conversely, if you have lower back pain, wear the bass lower as it moves the distribution of the weight upwards, which sounds counter-intuitive, but it works. There's a "sweet spot" there that you'll find. Setlists - bigger font and use more sheets of paper? Screen on pedalboard - if you're a Zoom guy, consider an upgrade to the B6. The screen is bigger, brighter and, most importantly, in colour - there's different colours for the different blocks, which makes differentiating them without having to necessarily read them much easier. Love my B6. Just wish it was a full steel chassis and had a built-in expression pedal. It has all the same stuff in it as your one, so recreating your patches will be easy.
  16. Bought new from GAK a couple of years ago, un gigged and little use, strung with d'addario chrome flats and fitted with East J retro circuit . Tried out in the Brighton shop against some higher end jazz basses and it was a lot better than some twice the price or more. Fender details Tap into that classic Jazz Bass sound Equipped with two single coil Fender Jazz bass pickups, this guitar offers all of the clarity and punch that you would want out of a bass and more. Melt into the mix with grumbling lows, crisp mids and open highs that produce a truly unique tone that has been reimagined through decades of Fender innovation – and accessed by dozens of legendary bass guitarists. The innovative wiring and magnets within these pickups provide for an expressive voice that is extremely well-defined and responds to the dynamics of your playing, no matter what your style is. Industry standard craftmanship This Squier Jazz Bass’ body is crafted from poplar, delivering a high frequency response as well as an overall light tonal contribution with sparkling highs. Poplar is a soft tonewood, therefore it offers a mellowed sound with warm lows to juxtapose the pick ups and create a perfect harmonic balance. The guitar itself is also lightweight thanks to the selection of poplar wood, providing a comfortable experience that can carry you all the way through the night With a maple constructed neck, you’ll be guaranteed a bright sound with plenty of twang, as well as excellent levels of resonance and sustain. Paired with a laurel fingerboard which will offer a smooth playability and high-quality physical feel beneath your fingertips in addition to a glorious amount of tonal warmth and depth. What’s more, the locking bridge works with the tuning pegs to help you stay in tune for longer, no matter how intense things get A definitive bass look So often described as the first choice for many bassists across the globe, this retro inspired aesthetic will have you standing out in any crowd. The space-age metallic blue body and matching headstock blends seamlessly with the exposed wood of the neck, as well as the cream pickguard, to achieve a timeless visual appearance. 17. Today
  18. To be fair I think you're right. I'm pretty sure they only introduced the 4 ohm version a couple of years ago and made the 4 and 8 ohm versions the standard options since then but will still do a 2 ohm version on request
  19. Sorry I asked now. Scared me just looking at the photos!! Be extra cool. Why don't you wear the shoes and pants on the train?
  20. As a regular train traveller I've found the limiting factor is more what I can carry/cart around. Even on a busy train you can just stand in one of the bike areas with your luggage if there are no spare seats to stack it on.
  21. Great for home recording or podcast. Fostex PMO.3 powered monitors. With separate Fostex PC1 volume control. Great little monitors. The power unit has recently been repaired, and they’re good to go. T.Bone SC400 condenser mic, boxed and unused with cradle. Studiospares mic isolator cube. Clever little thing. Never used. I'll throw in a mic stand too if you want it. All packed in a neat wheeled suitcase with extending handle. £100 collected, or delivered/meet up round Bath/Bristol area.
  22. Malt & Barley Blues - McGuinness Flint
  23. Do You pay him for that ?
  24. No room for cucumbers or baguettes because of the armadillo in my trousers. It's really quite frightening!
  25. EBS MultiComp Blue Label compressor https://ebssweden.com/pedals/multicomp/ Current edition of the popular compressor. Price includes UK postage.
  26. No, it wasn´t him. I found out it was Marcus Weymaere. Don´t know if he did the gig as a short term replacement or whatsoever. But he has been doing a great job.
  27. And manage to remain so once you’ve caught the subtle whiff of sweaty pants on your food
