You just upped the game by listing chronologically. I may not be able to sleep now until I’ve achieved that with mine. Ha -
I admire your tenacity. This makes it a more interesting project too.

The embossed legend is enough to put most folk off anyway. It's a cheap and nasty Steiny rip-off. That's going by the number of users that I have read criticising it.

Just to add my thanks to @scrumpymike Mrs Scrumpymike and the Srumpettes for creating such a wonderful opportunity to meet with other kind like minded bassists. Atmosphere, food and fellowship second to none. T'was an absolute joy. My humble aray of basses and home brew combos . Thanks to all for a wonderful day.

One of the things I learnt a long time ago is that you can have too much of a good thing. Like many other things in life you should not really hear the sub, any more than you can hear the LF driver or tweeter in the tops. Turn it up until you can just hear it then just back it of a little. The main thing with this Citronic Sub is it’s lightweight, small, well made and does what it is designed for. Even with a buggered left shoulder it is an easy one hand lift.

For Sale is my Ampeg B100R Rocket Combo in very good fully working condition plus soft cover and 4 x original removable castors. Great old skool Motown tone a la B15 with the diamond Tolex finish. Serial number CCNWP60023 may suggest made in June 2003 from this info but I'm not sure? 1985-2005: The St Louis Music era. A 10 digit number is used as a serial number, which contains lots of information. The number is set up like this: LLLCYMNNNN. LLL stands for the model, C stands for the country. (U is U.K., Y is Europe, W is Worldwide, and D stands for domestic or U.S.). The Y is a year code that is a letter, starting with A as 1988, (see chart below). What happened before 1987 for the year is unclear as very few amps were made because of bankruptcy for MTI. The M is a number code for January-October. (Jan is 1, Feb is 2, Oct is 10, fill in the blanks.) For November and December the letters A and B were used respectively. The last 4 numbers (N) are the actual serial number for the instrument. A= 1988 F= 1993 K= 1998 P= 2003 B= 1989 C= 1990 G= 1994 L= 1999 Q= 2004 H= 1995 M= 2000 R= 2005 D= 1991 I= 1996 N= 2001 E= 1992 J= 1997 O= 2002 Try out and collection from Poole, Dorset or can possibly do a meet up as I travel around a bit. Not looking for trades at this time as trying to thin out the gear. Make an offer. Thanks for looking. Not refering to the Jean Michelle Jarre album! At the bass bash I brought some magnetic field paper to see what was under the pickups of various devices. Most are pretty obvious what you are going to see, but here are some notable ones. I found it interesting anyway As a reference, this is a standard bart soapbar, twin coil humbucker, looks like you would expect This is a high gain rickenbacker 4004 pickup, obviously originally designed to go over 4 strings, but covers 5 nicely A dingwall twin pickup - goes with the line of the pickups, with the high notes further out Here is a normal single coil and what I assume is a GK3B (although obviously could be a GK2-b This is a mudbucker on a homemade Gibson Les Paul bass clone - huge area covered and probably explains the name! This is a sandberg pickup in a soapbar case - looks similar to the dingwall pickups mostly - this pickup was lined horizontally, so the pattern is just how it is in the case A fender (actually squier) metal covered split bass pickup - I looked at two of these, and the pattern is the same, the D string has most of the magnets! On the same table - two single coils and a P pickup - no surprises but very well balanced Finally a G&L MDF pickup in a L2000 - as you can see the magnetic field is so high its bending reality around it. And maybe even gravity. Interestingly I wanted to put the Rickenbacker 4003 pickup here, but pressing hard against the pickup I can just make out the dots on the pole pieces, but it is so weak it is very hard to see.
-
I don't know who originally made it but I've had it a couple of years and added a Thunderbird neck. It's had a Rickenbacker 5 string pickup, so will need re-routing for another shape. Has a KiOgan wiring loom and the cavities have copper conductive tape. Paint job - not good - Halfords finest put on too quickly and not sanded down. Top is finished with a vinyl wrap (which doesn't hide the paint inconsistencies underneath). Great if you want that 'Rat' look.

The great, “What pedals have you owned?” thread
BigRedX replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
If it's just pedals and not rack effects my list is as follows (in the order I bought them): Home-made Fuzz Box from a circuit published in Practical Electronics or some similar magazine from the mid 70s Korg VCF pedal Amdec Chorus Amdec Flanger Boss Super Distortion and Feedbacker These were replaced briefly by a set of dedicated rack units, until I bought my first multi-effects unit (Roland GP8) in the early 90s. I've been using multi-effects units ever since and currently own a Helix Floor. I have also owned a Linn Addrenalinn, but was never able to incorporate it into any rig. It was too complicated for live use, and in the studio the Step FX plug-in in Logic does the same thing but much better. -

What a lovely story.

Well, not so much the dwarf, as mentioned I do have one of those, but I have a tonex one, and am wondering if a ToneX would be something I could use - seems quite a flexible device, still not sure. There was so much to look at there! As to the etch-a-sketch, that was magnetic paper, shows the magnetic fields on various pickups, so I was looking at what was under the plastic / metal of the pickups. Was going to put them here, but will post under a different thread for that!
-
If you are getting noticeable signal loss due to your leads, then you need some better ones. And as I said in a previous post if the EQ centres on this are more suitable for your sound than those on your amp, then you have the wrong amp.

This reminds me of a local double bass player whose licence was revoked this year due to dementia. A friend bought him a Yamaha silent bass so he can more easily get a lift and still do gigs.
-
Is it? Please explain how. Unless the pre-amp has been badly designed the gain control should be the first thing the input signal passes through. Whether you boost the signal before or after the input jack socket should make zero difference. And stop assuming that passive basses have a lower output than actives. This is not 100% true.
