  1. Past hour
  2. I’ve always been one that’s rarely used a stand on the gig , I usually bring a backup bass. So they lean against my amp , or the wall. Every once in a while one takes a tumble. Never gave that any thought when I was using Fenders or Danos , these days I tend to play Gretsches and Gibsons that can snap with a fall. … so I bought a folding stand that holds three instruments. I might be out. I did hold off until one popped up on kijiji for about half the price of a new one. It’s the folding metal tube style with rubber padding. The seller said it never left his house. Looks new. I do think it was long overdue.
  3. It's 'like-new' in the listing photos, this has happened during transit. But the box and whatnot shows no sign of ink. I'm wondering whether it was damaged before postage...
  4. That looks like a bad day on the production line coinciding with a bad day at QC Control 🤔
  5. Some kind of solvent or perfume can erase ink like this.
  6. Just received this in the post (NOT from a Basschat seller).... Any idea what would cause this kind of damage?!? The photos on the listing showed a 'like-new' pedal, and there's no smudging on the packaging at all. Not happy ☹️
  7. This bass is an even greater temptation now. Surely someone will snaffle it this week?
  8. Hi there No, it's not quite going to work for me - not because of measurements (which I've just taken and will be fine) but because I can't read and it's nickel finish, my stuff's all chrome so it won't match. @Steve Browning, over to you, and sorry for wasting you and @ash's time.
  9. Me likewise.
  10. Yeah of course. They were fitted ( well one of them was ) to a 73 Precision if that helps?
  11. Monteray Jack Your Body - Steve Silk Hurley
  12. Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen
  13. Reassuringly heavy..
  14. Edam! I Wish I Was Your Lover - Sophie B Hawkins
  15. Thanks for sending these over! I think the set of 4 fender clovers would be my best bet - I’m looking to upgrade the tuners on a Squier Affinity Jazz. Can I measure tonight and let you know tomorrow, please? Cheers! Andy
  16. True. I've recounted this on here previously, but when I played the Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo) many years ago, they still had the old horn speakers standing unused in the wings. They were massive. I could easily have crawled into the horn throats.
  17. Today
  18. that's what i thought also ...
  19. So, TI Flats on and I rather like it now, I think the action needs to come up a little with the low tension strings, or I might put a tiny bit of relief into the neck (or a bit of both). But it sounds and resonates a whole lot better than it did with rounds for sure, especially in the higher register where the rounds seemed a little lifeless. It still needs a little sorting if it's to be sold as a bass - pickguard screws, nut screw fixed, PUP height etc, and I think I might put on a 3-string retainer which I like on FLs - but it's starting to feel like a bass as opposed to a load of thrown-together parts 👍
  20. Some better photos:
  21. Lovely lightweight compact yet powerful rig. Warwick Gnome 200 watt head and 2x10 4 Ohm cab. Drawing out the full juice from the head. Comes with mains lead and Speakon/Jack cable. Not been out the house since I bought them. in great condition. Not posting but can meet up or you can come and pick up. I can be around Bristol/Yeovil/Bath area.
  22. Having seen Jones Basses up close, I can genuinely vouch for the build quality and craftsmanship. I recorded the audio samples featured on the Jones Bass website , so I’ve had the opportunity to closely hear and play these instruments. Mark is clearly passionate about what he does and committed to producing instruments that play well, with the great filter preamp sound. I also interviewed him on my podcast, where we talked about how Jones Bass started and his approach to building basses – you can check it out HERE.
  23. Used to go to a rehearsal room about 9/10 years ago that was kitted out with modern Carlsbro gear. It was OK. Nothing particularly special, but it did the job. An improvement on their 80s/90s gear, for sure, but still with a whiff of old Peavey about them. Unremarkable, but ubiquitous and relatively bulletproof. I notice, with this latest "Viper" range, they're doing what they did with Delta Bass all those years ago - keeping the word "Carlsbro" well away from public view!
  24. Hohner B2A fretless bought from the gentleman and scholar @Pete1967 beginning of this year. Pete installed the Agi pre, and new battery box, along with a lovely low set up with new Hotwires rounds. I subsequently bought a new (5 string) set of Steinberger strings which are new, boxed and unused, along with a new Steinberger synapse strap extender, Included in the sale. It’s been kept in the Warwick Rockbag I bought for it. The bass plays wonderfully and the Agi is a very flexible preamp and can go subtle to beast and anything in between. Things to note, it doesn’t a working led light, if that’s bothers you. Also the 40 year old jack socket has started playing up but I will include a new one, I just don’t have the skills to solder/fit it. I’m going off in a different direction and am selling most of my bass gear, so this is available. If you want the beast without the weight (6.6 lbs!!) then this baby is for you. I don’t have packing materials or time for the next week or so and would prefer a collection or hand over for now. I’m in Bath but can travel within reasonable distance by pre agreement. Any questions, feel free to…
