    I have for sale an Adamovic Soul 4 string bass. Presented in fabulous condition this is a perfect instrument for someone looking for a versatile lightweight impeccably well made bass with a wide tonal range. I traded this bass a few weeks ago at Bass Direct and whilst I love how it plays I prefer my PRS Gary Grainger bass. Having owned quite a few basses over the years I can confidently say that the Adamovic is up there with the very best of them, however being a casual player rather than a collector I have no wish to amass expensive instruments when they could be used gainfully by others. The bass comes with a super high quality Music Area heavily padded gig bag, and the usual adjustment tools should you need them. The bass spec is shown on the certificate provided however I must point out that there is a printing error on the document which identifies the bass as a 5 string for some reason when it’s clearly a four! The slanted Jazz pickups are made by German pickup wizard Harry Haussel. I would be more than happy for any interested party to come and try this bass, that way the instrument can be truly appreciated. The tone, finish, weight, balance and ergonomics have to be seen to be believed. I exchanged emails with Nicola Adamovic recently to confirm that the serial number is correct, which it appears to be, and he confirmed the current waiting time for a new build is over two years. I would describe the condition as excellent as it isn’t quite mint. It has two tiny marks on the top section of the neck pocket.(Please see photo). They are certainly nothing to be worried about in fact I was completely unaware of them until I took the photos a short while ago. If you have any questions please do get in touch.     My 2 Jazz basses. The black one, is my Sire V7. It's a first generation and I can't remember how long I've had it. It was one of the very first ones made with a signed neckplate. I took the plate off and replaced it was a blank plate. The original lives in a box. I've used it a lot and apart from the neckplate I've done no modifications to it, I've never felt the need. The V7 has been my main bass since I bought it (I did have a Squier P bass as a back up). The 3 tone burst Jazz I bought recently from a fellow Basschatter. I love it. I wanted a passive Jazz with a classic look and this fits that bill. Don't let the Sire hear, but this is probably my main bass now.

    You're correct. All Broadnecks are German only.

    Hi Steve. It played effortlessly but I didn't plug it in as I was short for time and had a train to catch out of Southampton. It was light as well if that's an important factor. Nice thickish neck and wider string spacing (18mm at least) if that's what one likes.

    Good question and I can’t remember what I did when I had a BH800, so I am no help there - but, you can edit TonePrint pedals - Spectracomp and HyperGravity I’ve edited many times to get the behaviours I want from them. I feel a bit sad for TC, they had an impressive roster of artists and were pushing the envelope of bass tech, then someone decided to pull the plug. Friends left the company and many of the products are long since discontinued. I really rate their compressors and at the time, their multi-effect processors were unrivalled. I bought a BH head for my daughter recently and I was reminded how good they sound.

    Well it had to happen in true Basschat GAS fashion I've sold the BR15. ☹️ There was nothing wrong with the Origin Effects BR15, it has a real old school sound that I ultimately didn't get on with. I put on the Rheingold BP-2 preamp with a United Vintage Di, my two favourite preamp / di combination. Now that's my sound.

    If this thread demonstrates anything, it is that there are too many bridges that require the strings to be threaded through rather than just be top loading. Threading strings through can damage coated / nylon tape strings and even scratch up others. It also takes longer. The only time I change a bridge is to get a top load / quick load option that avoids that threading nonsense. Hipshot do some vintage looking ones that have a top load system as well as more modern options. I swap strings for different genres so being able to put on and take off without damage or twisting is a big plus for me.

    String spacing again a bit narrow, but I'd forgotten Hohner - there's the B V (with body and head), Jack V (headless with body) and the B2AV (cricket bat headless) - the B2AV has a passive variant, the B2V, which IME doesn't sound as good.

    Many years ago I bought a Read Purity preamp and it sounded amazing. It’s not the tube sound people might think it has a clean more hi-fi type sound and I eventually gravitated to transformer based colouration. This for me is where it’s at. I still like tubes but transformer based colouration is what I’ve grown to appreciate.

    Like buying a car, it would be helpful to know what you want from an amplifier. How will it fit your needs and anything that would be a hard-pass. What style(s) of music do you play? Do you favour all HiFi goodness? Completely flat and direct? Raunchy drive, metal or some old school Jack Bruce thump? If you’re looking for all of that then there’s also avenues to explore. Don’t forget also that the speaker cabinet makes a huge difference and battles have been lost either in performance or just taste because the signal chain didn’t play ball. What kit are you using? I’ll post my reviews playlist later, out of the hundreds of videos, there’s a good few amplifiers in there to check the specs of and find something you like.
