  2. For anyone thats interested the Mooer PE100 thats meant for guitar can be re programmed for bass . It doesnt have compression, but in does have some Amp modelling, distortion, Wah, chorus and flanging. Agreed it isnt a bass pedal, but it is another toy, budget friendly and very small footprint. End of topic
  3. We went all the way through learning it and getting it ready, then we dropped it because someone didn't like it who later decided they actually liked it. Figures!
  4. I’ve got a Two10 as well as the two Monzas at the moment, so I can comment on the difference up to a point. Absolute like to like comparison: same MB LM111 500 with EQ at 12 o’clock and no shaping, same gain and master settings: the Two Monza’s are louder but nothing like as boomy. The Two10 produces overpowering and slightly unpleasant boominess centred around D on the E string, or A string but extended down to the C and up to the E to a lesser extent. I am assuming this is either the cab’s resonant frequency, or my basses’. The Monza’s resonant frequency is around the low B (on a 4 string, not tried a 5) but much less pronounced, with the identical setup and instrument. The Two10 runs out of steam in the highs, whereas the Monzas will keep reproducing what you throw at them. Of course, this is all based on my particular examples but you only need to look at the frequency ranges in the spec sheets to see the objective differences. EQ at equality the Two10 appears to give you more bass but this is because of the huge low mids hump it is tuned to. Barfaced aimed to tune it for a vintage speaker type response and that is what you get. In reality the Monza gives you the same amount of bass but without the low mids boost and without the boominess. Of course, if you want that, you can eq it in. I use the shaping on the LMIII, or the amp character controls on my Blackstar U700 to put in the vintage sound when I need it. Really, comparing the Two10 and the Monzas is comparing chalk and cheese. They have different design objectives and both products achieve them well. I’m not much of a fretless player but my gut instinct is that the FRFR approach of LFSys would suit that application better. Others might disagree.
  5. I meant than the 5 multi - if the 4 is 36-34 and the 5 is 37-34, then the E must be 35.33" on the 4 and 36.25" on the 5, almost an inch longer. Not that I believe that really it makes that much difference!.
  6. Thank you @synthaside! I reported the issue to Thomann and they refused to believe me (despite video) but eventually said they would send me a set of grub screws - because mine were sheared (they are not). So it doesn’t seem to be a common thing, but interested to hear what you find. When you are reunited with the bass, can you post a picture with the black pickguard? I would like to see that!
  7. Teenage Rampage - Sweet
  8. I'm really keen to try one of these. As a fretless bassist who very much has the typical 80's Pino/Giblin tone with chorus and octave, I'm super interested in seeing how clean and defined something like the Monza will be. I'm a very melodic bassist, even cello like in places and I play with a gentle drummer with brushes and shakers and an acoustic guitarist. So I'm after a very clean, rich tone. I like my Barefaced Two10 but I find it has a more vintage tone and lacks something and I have used other cabs/combos that I've preferred tonally. The weight, size and power is also perfect as a gigging rig for my setup.
  9. Until recently, 5 string PJ sets were hard to come by. The new Euro CST series has a 5 PJ set though! Of course, in any other Spector 5 - should you wish, you can swap the soapbar humbuckers for Reverse P & J EMGs in soapbar housing.
  10. Everyone everywhere speaks English because we can't speak anything else. I can't even speak Welsh and I am a Welshman.
  11. SOLD
  12. I asked Andertons and they said end of September, Guitar Guitar website says the same.
  13. I just sold a WL-20 wireless setup to Gareth. A smooth transaction, no problems.
  14. Tell them that 'Spector bassist Gary' sent you. They'll look after you!
  15. P.S - as you can see ive fitted a bridge cover. The thumbrocker thumb rest will be removed before sale and will leave no trace as this is a drop in mod. Very sunny here so anything other than the aforementioned dent will sun sun glare. More pics to follow once ive cleared space
  16. Two monzas stacked would make a great gigging setup for most occasions but there are always times for more 😁

  18. Hoping to tap into the combined wisdom of the forum here. I'm loaning my PA out to a ceilidh band for a wedding gig tomorrow (Saturday 24th May) and one of the instruments is a double bass, I don't believe that they have a pickup fitted so my plan is to put a mic in front of it and hope for the best. I have a selection of mics available to me but i'm not sure which would be most suitable, the setup and soundcheck time is extremely short so i'm not going to have time to experiment. from the list of mics below which one would be the most suitable and what position/direction would be best? Red5 Audio - RV6/RV8/RV10 Rode - M3 Audix D6/i5 SE - X1 AKG - P4/D5 Shure - SM58 Beta Audio_technica - ATM10a this is the total list of mics that I can lay my hands on before the gig so i've got to pick one, so which one would you use? Thanks Matt
  19. That's correct, Tal plays an MV (NYC) with the same woods combo, but with smaller body and no blocks and binding. Maybe with single coils as well? This Japanese Metro UV70 is very attractive, it's a hell of a bass, I'm surprised it's still here. GLWTS
  20. wow so similar - what serial number is yours? they can't be far between them
  21. @floFC I'll check my saddles when I'm back in Riga in 2 weeks' time, MY Anti CV P lives out there with my little Nux " amplug" until our wedding gig ( I treated myself) ho ho If anyone wants the patinated "Antigua" P scratchplate, it will shortly be up for dibs on the BC marketplace ( it is definitely 1 ply ). It's a standard 13-hole plate, so suitable for US or Mexican standards. ... I have swapped it for a nice 3 ply Black scratchplate to match the black blocks ... as double antigua was a bit much I think it looks fab now.
  22. I bought one back in 1998 from the Bass Centre when it was in Wapping. I had just signed a record deal and was given £5k to buy new gear. I bought a Musicman Stingray, a Hartke HA7500, a Harke 4x10 and a 1x15. I only had a little bit of money left and needed a second bass so I bought an all black Status Shark. I loved the look of it but I really didn't get on with it but that would be 100% down to me not knowing how to get the best out of it but it was a lovely bass and looked amazing.
  23. youth gone wild - skid row
  24. too much, too young, too fast - airbourne
  25. Recently bought some emg pickups from Brian, brilliant communication and delivered next day! Would happily deal with again
  26. That blue baffle looks really good! However, two Monzas is more than enough for anybody.
