  2. I know exactly what you mean, it's got a that old Shaftsbury look, or something else on the cheap side. That's why I was nervous about the order, because with the shipping and tax it just slipped the wrong side of four figures. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, and it paid off. In the flesh you can see it's a really well built and finished off bass, one of the best quality basses I've owned. I genuinely think if it was a Rickenbacker it would be £3-4k and not as good quality. I know it hasn't got a 'brand' name attached to it but I don't care, or maybes I don't know. It's designed by Dennis Fano of Fano Guitars (which seem to attract big price tags) but I don't know who he is. I'd not hesitate in buying another Rivolta if this is their standard.

This looks like someone has removed the heel for some reason...very weird....
  4. The Bass Gallery do that also. Witnessed it a few times from them.
  5. Presumably you’re posting this on a US site as well, as it seems a bit of a long shot that it’s made its way across the pond.
  6. The estimate is 10-20k, i could see someone going to about 10 but you’d have to be a really serious fan to go to the 20k mark for this , A comparison for me would be if one of my all time idols Aston Barrett’s iconic 72 jazz came up for sale , would I spend 20k on it ?, I probably would
  7. Played the Sterling Castle in Bridlington on Saturday. A good gig overall with our new drummer- second gig and hes match fit! the sound guy James was superb, great not to lug any pa in to the venue as RCF stuff already set up. IEMs working great. Such a small stage but its amazing how much room you have with no bass amp taking up the space!
  8. It definitely is a lovely sound, it just works so well in this bass.
  9. Beautiful. I have the 450B and 650B, but always fancied one of these. IMHO the last of the proper USA made alu-necked boutique Kramers before they went pointy, wood necked, and downmarket.
  10. These things tend to be more geared (sic) towards the guitar collector types than towards someone after something cheap & cheerful. There may be some deals to be had, but for something a bit "road worn" / "player grade", IMO, you're best off scouring the For Sale ads here, Gumtree & FB Marketplace (locally to you). Guitar shows are a nice way to spend a few hours, nerding out at what's on offer (whist baulking at the prices).
  11. I've got mixed feelings, but I'm probably going to go to Manchester... unless the tickets are even more extortionate than I expect.
  12. I can see clearly now the rain has gone - Johnny Nash
  13. The Tobias Classic 6 bass with serial number 2105 dates to the period immediately following Gibson's acquisition of Tobias, dating to late 1992 or early 1993. Production Period Details Gibson Transition: Michael Tobias sold the company to Gibson in 1990. Basses with serial numbers up to 2044 are considered the last "California" models (made in Burbank, Los Angeles). Nashville Production: Serial number 2105 follows the last California production serial number, indicating that this particular instrument was one of the first produced at Gibson's new facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The entire original luthiers did not relocate to Nashville, leading to differences in the production process compared to previous models. Features: Despite the change of location, the first basses produced in Nashville retained many of the original design features. This 6-string bass likely still features the asymmetrical neck and original Bartolini pickups/preamps. In short, your Tobias Classic 6 is a historic example that marks the transition from Michael Tobias' original ownership to Gibson's, making it an interesting piece for collectors and enthusiasts.
  14. I am selling a beautiful bass from the Italian Liuteria Claire Basses&Guitars, model Etna 5, with a Black Korina body, flamed maple neck, ebony fingerboard, spalted wood pickguard, PKV Pickups and electronics.

  15. @Kiwi I think the website is good and all necessary information is provided. The FAQ read very well (and definitely do not sound like a cheap Chinese workshop), but a few typos need to be corrected: Should be “entrepreneur”. Should be “… in the same way as for any wooden neck.“ Should be “with your Aurok…”. Should be “situation”. Good luck with your enterprise. I would really like to try a graphite neck at some point.
  16. Sunday afternoon gigs are the best aren’t they? And how about one that ends with a standing ovation - aye I’ll have some of that thank you. Here’s a little clip of the last two minutes of our encore yesterday at Shotton Comrades club. Makes the back pain on a Monday from humping gear worth it 😎 39c2fca7-3412-4b54-be44-3234f5ad7aac.mov
  17. In future, I highly recommend using hide glue rather than Titebond as the former can be dissolved without much hassle, making any luthier repairs much easier.
  18. Absolutely lovely
  19. They essentially a flipping business. There was a KS burner for sale at the bass gallery for £1400, a few weeks after it sold it was for sale at bass bros with a £400 markup.
  20. On their comeback gigs I only saw him play a Thunderbird and a white Jazz but hey if you have the cash and it floats your boat go for it.
  21. Mine is inputs on the side 😆 I find on the top is nicely out of the way especially on any single-row board, and it's easier getting the short cables to play nicely But really the most annoying thing is when you have a mix of both!
  22. That's a nice bass!
  23. I last saw them on the Clockwork Angels tour at the O2. TBH, I've felt more involved listening to an album or watching a gig on TV. They've recently decided to cash in in any way they can; their re-releases are too expensive and I'm not up for paying inflated prices on tickets. It's a bit disappointing, really.
