Ooh, I don't know about that. I don't usually like false overenthusiasm, but I can't help but like IMA. He's one of the few bass content creators I actually admire and can relate to. He's a proper working bassist who has a great ear for tone and loves playing with effects. And importantly, he's not flashy and doesn't make content to show off his technique, unlike a lot of other well-known bass content creators who don't seem to leave their house.

Bassman68 started following Fender Jazz 5 string - floppy B?

Had a Mexican Fender Jazz (The one with 5 in a line headstock) for a couple of years around 2000. The neck felt ok(ish) but the B string wasn’t the best? It lacked a lot of definition, only really working with a tapered B string but could never get a low enough action, even when I got a Badass bridge. I was using it for mostly Pub-work to give my Warwick Thumb 5 a rest…Was night/day comparing the two.. Ended up trading it in for a Stingray 5, which is now my ‘workhorse’ 5 string.

Pickup mods to a bitsa Jaguar. Advice please.

If you want more tonal variation buy a programable multi-effects pedal with a decent EQ section. -
It's costing approximately £30 plus postage for a rewind. I don't have to worry about doing any soldering more fiddly than connecting the flying leads back to the selector switch and it will be re-wound with the correct gauge of wire and to the correct DC resistance as the original pickup. From what I recall when I was using this bass the middle pickup either on it's own or with one of the others was the setting I favoured for most of the bass sounds, so trying to sell the bass without the most important pickup working is likely to knock off more value than the cost of the rewind.

random question 70's Precision I own almost certainly needs a refret soon it's a maple neck and board what would be the cost in merry old blighty?

Nothing worse staying in the wrong band ! Tell them asap and move on

Even on a live recording you are unlikely to be hearing anything of the amp and cabs you can see on stage, but the processing that is being applied either by the PA or the recording process.
-
I'm surprised it fits over the bridge, but now I think about it, it probably seems as though it's designed to fit! I do a lot of palm muting on my stang so I haven't tried one, but it does look good.

Walrus Audio Canvas Mono DI/LI. Selling due to downsizing my board. Great little pedal with with switchable pad, ground lift, and summing options. Adds a nice bit of colour too! There's currently velcro on the back, but easy to remove cleanly. Located in Devon. Can meet in person if nearby, or buyer decides on/pays for postage. Here's my feedback thread:

Line 6 HX Stomp XL, selling due to downsizing my board. It's in great condition, one chip to the paintwork on the front that was there from new. You can see it on the photos beside the A switch. It's spent the majority of its time on a pedalboard in a protective case. It currently has some custom and purchased presets on it, but I can reset it back to factory if preferred. It comes with velcro on the back, the rubber feet are in the box. Located in Devon. Can meet in person if nearby, or buyer decides on/pays for postage. Here's my feedback thread:

New Adrian Sherwood album 'The Collapse of Everything' has just been released. The title track gives a good idea of what the album is like:

@ped It was fitted when i got the bass, and I think we felt that it was part of the story... and that it looked good anyway!

I used to have one of the 2000's era Squire P5's that they did for a while calling it a P bass for the body shape .. when its got J pickups i found the Low B pretty flubby , https://reverb.com/uk/item/83693497-2000-squier-5-string-precision-bass-special-sherwood-green-w-jazz-bass-style-soapbar-pickups?page=1&filter=all

Comes with the box and power supply - 12V. It will happily run off a suitable modern pedal board supply like a Cioks DC7 as long as you set that to 12V Amazing sounding thing - for me just plugging in with the EQ all at noon, and then turning the middle knob to "Old" gets an amazing bass tone. Only selling as I'm now using a HXStomp for guitar and bass duties. The valve adds a nice warmth as long as you don't turn the gain up too much (gets a bit fizzy then) and also has 2 separate Overdrive sounds with a control to blend the clean with the drive. One is quite traditional and the other more aggressive - but doesn't copy Darkglass at all. It has it's own thing. Actually sounds very nice for clean guitar as well - for that straight to desk sort of Nile Rodgers approach. Can be used for headphone practice and has an AUX in for an MP3 player etc. These are £350 RRP. The little cover on the Optical out is missing and I have no way of testing that bit. The rest is all tip top. I bought this on the forum. So I'm selling for £175 collected from Northants or add £10 towards postage as it's quite heavy. Good demo of it:

Absolutely stunning job. Interesting that you replaced the non original bridge cover - is that a Daryl Jones nod?

I think the simplest way is best - just say as others have indicated that it's not working for you and move on.

I had to do this a few years back, I did agree to stay around til they found a replacement which I thought was the decent thing to do.

As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £10.50 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears the Eden's seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

Personally, if I could only keep one, I would keep the U5. I had the Jaguar SS a few years back and I don’t recall it being as well made and I also recall the Jag being a real neck diver but I might be confusing it with the 32” humbucker version I also owned for a while. I love the rolled edges on the U5 neck, the flamed maple top (unless you have the green one), the lack of hum and the serrated saddles. I guess in the Jag’s favour: it is easier to upgrade things like the bridge and machine heads (standard Fender pattern) and it has more conventional contouring (belly and arm cuts). However, the U5 is the first “cheap” bass that I have not felt the need to upgrade. The bridge pickup could be stronger but I remember the Jag’s being even more pathetic and the P not being that great either. Each to their own though. It will be interesting to hear where you land. BTW what’s wrong with having two shorties? -
If I bought a HX stomp, a pinstripe MISO and at least one 3leaf pedal would that count?
