  2. I'd also love to see Zoom revisit their old 9000 series form factor with modern processing. I loved that wedge-shaped device you could jam under an amp handle, and the compact passive remote footswitch for a tidy stage.

    Valve amp

FYI, between Christmas and today I sold 3 solid state Marshall amps to fund this one, I hope it's worth it.
  4. A shop full of headphones. Start from the most expensive. When you hear a difference in sound, take one step back. There you go. But hey, an emphasized bass? Maybe you should start from the cheapest, and when you don't hear that exaggerated bass, take one step back?
  5. By small, i mean a 6 piece band on (or off) a stage that holds 3 at the most 🤣
  6. I remember seeing that post about how long it takes to process the signal... I've got no idea what the cause is but it's definitely something I feel and it can't be a fault with it being two pedals multiple years apart. I'm just waiting for someone to come and tell me at a gig how relieved they are that I'm back on my 3Leaf and I'll know this was all worthwhile... As much as we don't agree on the great octave debacle - I'm also partial to a bit of dull men's club and consider it to be my greatest online find of 2025! 👏
  7. A Boss Katana bass practice amp. Their guitar and bass katana and waza products line up well against each other, but there's nothing smaller than the 1x10. I want something akin to the desktop class katana amps specifically designed for bass.
  8. Sounds like a plan to me! Always up for a bit of pedal nerding! I must stress though when I say latency - I'm not talking playing through a bluetooth speaker across the room latency - it's just an every so slight lack of immediacy - All of the analogue octavers I've had have stuck to my note as if it's what's naturally coming out of the bass... with the OC5 it's like I can feel the every so slight delay in processing. If I get a second tonight I'll try and record an audio sample although it'll likely mean nothing without being the one playing as it's definitely a feel thing rather than an audible delay.
  9. The Eventide stuff can definitely do things like that! Also check out the Meris Hedra perhaps
  10. I'd really like to see a compact pedal in the same vein as the Moog Murf line which offers expression control over the 'mix', so you can add in LFO type effects via expression. Fatty from Submotion Orchestra does(or did) this with the big Moogerfooger, but something compact and available would be cool. Shame they didn't do a Minifooger Murf/LFO type pedal. I have the MF Chorus but only the rate can be controlled via expression, not the mix, otherwise I could potentially use it in a similar way.
  11. Or you can just get an IEM system and plug in whatever you want. They aren't bluetooth though
  12. Yep I’ve got one from my old Stagg headphones !
  13. I've decided to sell my classic 1993 Ibanez Fujigen SDGR SR800 bass. This is a fantastic bass from the glory years of Japanese Ibanez instruments.....with a lovely feel, very playable neck and excellent tonal palette available from the 3-band active circuitry and AFR PJ pickups. The fingerboard is rosewood, bridge is the AccuCast BIV and tuners are Gotoh (one is missing rear cover but purely cosmetic). The truss road cover is also missing but could easily be replaced with a generic plain one. The overall condition is good for a 30+ year old instrument, with just a few scuffs, scratches etc as to be expected. Payment by bank transfer, Paypal (you pay ALL fees), or cash on collection from Camberley (Berks/Surrey/Hants border) area. UK shipping approx £30 extra. Please see my extensive, positive, feedback thread for assurance of a clean, honest transaction.
  14. Twas crazy when they made their 'anniversary' bass out of... Carbon fibre. Coulda gone with polystyrene to mug people off. 'Classic' missed opportunity.
  15. We do the small venues too and didn't have a problems. However we went to 5.8 in the first place was I used to use the internal router on the X18. As soon as I turned the XVive U4 on, there was no X18 connection. You could have one or the other, so I had to go to a an external 5.8 router.
  16. To be fair the issues have been on very small stages. Larger stages have always been fine. First time it happened (only talking about the XR18, nothing else has issues) the bass players 5.8 reciever on his amp was maybe 6ft from the router if that, which was stuck on the floor. We had occasionally freezes but nothing too drastic. The next couple of times were when my singer had her 5.8 wireless mic receiver plugged directly in to the XR18. This was maybe a foot from the router. Too close i know but it was tight on the stage. Each time we turned off her recorder we had more luck, and when we got the bass player to run off his system we got full control back. I have now got workarounds for this, inc moving the router as far away as possible from the mixer and bass player, and also using 2.4ghz. So far it’s all working as it used to before the shift to 5.8. We have played the small venues a couple of times since going to 2.4, an even though the router is still on the floor close to the bass amp its been fine.

    Monitors

It may be worth auditioning the Mackie XR824 and MR824 monitors too - I don't have any direct experience with them but they seem to be well-regarded. I used the Presonus Eris E8 for many years - they're ok, kinda got the job done, but were quite warm and 'hi-fi' sounding, so didn't really have that clinical detail I like for mixing and translating to other systems, so don't think I could recommend those over any of the other monitors discussed here. I was finally able to upgrade to a pair of Focal Solo ST6 last year and absolutely love them - different league entirely! (unfortunately a different budget entirely also...) @BigRedX is absolutely right - whatever monitors you're using you need to get to know them and the room acoustic. Most of us are restricted to untreated/lightly-treated rooms so have to compensate: listen to lots of reference tracks.
  18. An unlined fretless jazz, ideally with a maple board, would be nice though.
  19. When it said chorus, I was expecting a guitar type chorus, but no. As you say, a very subtle difference on the YC.
  20. Marshall DSL40CR?.. don't sound like a bass amp... just go for it 🤣
  21. This sort of thing intrigues me too and I get lost in looking stuff up. Sometimes I just have to punch myself in the groin and repeat "Once the drums start it doesn't matter. Once the drums start, it doesn't matter" over and over again!
  22. Mother Stands For Comforter - Kate Bush
  23. Mechanical coupling, yes, as I noted to keep the speaker from dancing. Acoustical coupling, or decoupling, no. Many of those seen on silly expensive speakers look like they must do something significant, and it's mainly audiophiles who fall for the scam. It's quite odd that so many of those claiming to have 'golden ears' listen with their eyes. 🤔
  24. I’m sure there’s a market for a bass ‘arpeggiator’. I just play the root note and it kindly fills in with a suitable walking pattern or fill. Not that I’m lazy or anything…
