  3. Bought this as ive always wanted to try the big box Cali76 pedal and reviews state this is extremely similar and a much lower premium. Worked wonders on beefing up my Rickenbacker and helping with the hollow sounding E strings rics are famous for. A genuinely superbly engineered piece of kit. Price includes UK postage. Would consider trades/part ex for a Sansamp programmable DI or the VT deluxe version (the 3 or 4 channel jobs)

  5. Most of us are self-deprecating by nature, especially Brits... When I changed career paths at age of 25 and went from being a bank clerk to a mainframe assembler programmer, I struggled to call myself a 'computer programmer' for quite a while. Later, when I started singing lessons and started perfroming in concerts regularly, I struggled with calling myself even an 'amateur musician' and definitely not 'musician'. I think the terms musician and artist get tangled up with various layers of meaning. Those terms apply at many different levels and often people use the terms solely for what you might call the 'elite' levels, whereas as they apply to all/most of us at any level. I play or sing then I'm a musician - doesn't mean I get gigs at prestigious venues. I'm a serious amateur photographer and I have had work in exhibitions, so yes in that context I'm definitely an 'artist'. Do I make a living out of music or photography? No. And perhaps that's what people are thinking when they use the terms - they are applying them to professionals who make a living from their activities.

  7. The absolute best of the best. So much great music over an incredible career. I got to see him with Petrucciani and Gadd. A memorable experience. Such a talent. He will be sorely missed.

  11. I suspect if being an "artist" is a spectrum, there is just something about bass players that make us a little more down to earth than other artists. Certainly whenever I've been in festivals/gigs etc., being someone who goes on stage and plays something does put you with a different group to other people doing stuff at the gig. While I might not consider myself an "artist" in the same way as the mentally unstable singer/song writer who doesn't get sarcasm, I do find myself in the same general group...
  12. It'll take me a while to model the response of some of the drivers available today but this looks very do-able. The thickness of the ply isn't going to add a lot to the weight, just remember it's the internal dimensions you need to worry about so you'll need to allow for that when you cut the panels. For example going from 12mm ply to 18mm would make the cab wider by 6mm each side and it would need to be 12mm wider overall. Thicher panels means less pracing so you can shave a bit there. Think about the 4ohm driver a little more. You will gain at best 2db which is just noticeable and for acoustic gigs you won't need that much, I use a BC110T for open mics and it is really overkill. I do a lot now with my 6" design and we've recently put up a design for an 8 which works well, all this with a Warwick Gnome 130W into 8ohm. This cab is around the size of your Monza and roughly the same weight you could go smaller IMO. The 8" cab uses the same 'easy build' construction so is effectively the same cab with smaller panels.
  13. Yep, same here. Another legend gone, RIP and thanks for the music.
  14. Knob suggestions?
  15. Shine Like It Does - INXS
  16. @G-bitch It’s a wonderful old thing. Worth a look, you never know what’s fallen down there between the crisp wrappers and Quality Streets! @attackbass Just put it back in the case for another 6 months or so, you’ll like it again then 😉
  17. I agree. They are very pretty looking basses. Great colours and finishes. They certainly add to the player/owner appeal. Look good on stage too! And although I have lots of basses in various configurations (4's, 5's, Fretted, fretless, etc) I don't own or have ever played a headless or a fanned fret, so quite looking forward to buying my first one!😍 Wow, that's some tight spacings going on there! Don't think my elderly, arthritic fingers would be able to cope with that!😂😂 Love to know what you think of the SRMS806 when it arrives. Might tempt me to go for a 805 (despite what Low End Lobster says in his review! 😂) P.S. Don't we just love basses. Could sell your soul to the devil for just one more that's caught our eye !😂

  22. This is a pic of the recent official 4003 bridge pup bezel. Essentially it's a rip-off of the Tubeampology aftermarket piece. The new bezel is fitted to all new 4003's shipped from the factory as stock. Rickenbacker finally ditched the faux chrome arched bridge pup cover. There should be the adjustment screws in place. The size is kindly given by @Bigguy2017 above.
