  1. Past hour
  2. Great work, Jack. Were I not so feeble, old and decrepit, I'd treat myself to another proper bass cab'.
  3. I Can't Stand The Rain - Ann Peebles
  4. I fired the cab up in the rehearsal studio tonight and have some observations: 1 - It's very loud; when compared to my usual cab (Eden 2x15, no tweeter) using the same amp settings it gives noticeably more volume. 2 - Frequency response (or perceived frequency response) is very good; it maintains sweetness in the high end and it doesn't get overly clacky, even with the bass's tone control fully up. 3 - It's chuffing heavy; I've not weighed it, but it's somewhere between monolithic and made of the hears of collapsed stars. 4 - It's very responsive; even with my Cali76 Bass compressor in use the dynamics are pretty open, and when digging in it moves air around without hesitation, but when playing normally it stays pretty sweet. 5 - The bottom end is big and full but not woolly. 6 - It pairs well with my amp. All in all I'm very happy with how the project has turned out. Cheers, JRK
  5. I have an 846v (2020) and it's a great bass in all regards. I'm much more of an SR fan as I have several (note avatar) incl a new S/H one yesterday, but there are 3 BTBs I'd happily buy if one was local at a reasonable price even though I need another bass like a hole in the head. No, but I don't rest my forearm on the upper bout either.
  6. My ‘de-blinged’ Squier 40th. There’s a thread in Build Diaries with a bit more info for the curious.
  7. Just s thought... if you want to transfer vibration a single point contact is best, not an area, I think. An area contact damps vibrations.
  8. Anyone bringing barefaced cabs? Interested to try a Super twin / BB3 and a 210t/410t.
  9. Today
  10. I know I have a very rare version!
  11. That’s exactly why I included the Fender body shape…. If someone asked me what a P bass is, Adam Clayton’s Warwick isn’t what comes to mind.
  12. Will the UK bass makers that were using Hiscox as their branded supplied cases, still be using them though? But yes, nice to know on the retail accessory-end that they'll still be available again.
  13. If you get the Tobias I hope you will like it better than this 😉 (looks am.....! 🔥
  14. Bump for added sale option. Would consider trades for Fender P / PJ 5 string or Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5.
  15. Still shorter than having them in the spares drawer without an ad 😂
  16. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  17. Beautiful amp, congratulations. My only comment is that unless you believe the valves will be unseated from their sockets during rough transit or handling, I'd remove those retainer springs, that could potentially scratch the glass. I replaced the spring retainers on my amp with the Ampeg Birtcher style retainers that just hold the valve base. My amp never moves though, so not really needed.
  18. Simply beautiful 😍 GLWYS.
  19. I'm not grading anything. I'm talking about players whose playing connects to me most on a personal level, related to topic of the thread. As with any form of art and music, everyone has their favourites, and it can make for an interesting discussion.
  20. Quick and simple sale, pleasant comms and a great BCer (plus great choice in gear!). I'd happily deal with Dan again - thanks!
  21. If I remember correctly when I bought one a few years back those were the settings that I was advised to start off with, then adjust to the bass being used at the time.
  22. What has the body shape to do with the definition, if the pickup and its placement is the thing soundwise? Would an Adam Clayton gilt Warwick not be a P, because of the shape? (OK, the pickup is reversed, but still?)
