The Band's Last Waltz album. Rick Danko and (mostly) his Gibson Ripper. What's not to like?
-
Problem sovled - the Jazz was sounding 'thin' and lacking definition more than anything, probably due to the £8 set of Warwick Red Label 40-100 strings I threw on it. It's now got a new set of Elixir 40-95s and it's got all of its proper fullness and rich tone back. Much better! Beware cheap string sets... 🤦♂️

Strings/Sadles to Fretboard Radius, Action, Pickup height to strings. A P with a 7.25" radius neck can make the split pickup look broken!

Genuine story: I have a mate who plays in a duo around pubs. The name of the duo: Grey Hair and Nae Hair. -
Jeffskowski started following 212 cab

Currently weighing up the Laney DBV212-4 and the EBS S212CL cabs. I have a GK Legacy 112 Combo and a TH500 head that could both be used with these cabs. One reason for going 2x12 in vertical format is to get more sound higher up towards my ears. Leaning towards the EBS as it has built in castors and comes with a cover which is worth the extra £100... I think.

That was me. Can't recall weight, but I'd guess between 20 and 25kg. Closer to 25 probably. Relatively easy lift and slid into the car with the seats down easily enough.

My JMJs are 3.6, 3.7 & 3.9. I’ve put Ultralites on the 3.6 to get it down a bit, more for balance really. -
Excellent question.

RHCP at their absolute best. Funky, great songs, interesting, original, utterly meaningless lyrics. The only similarity in their later stuff is the lyrics.

I don’t know if mine is typical, but it weighs in at 3.7kgs. Not heavy by my standards, but still my heaviest bass, despite being the shortest. -
Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
franzbassist replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Here’s my new, much simplified board. The Original Effects pedals are amazing, and with some more tweaking the HX One will give me all I need effects-wise. My trusty Rockboard power bank means no need for a mains PSU, but I have a connection tucked away if it’s ever needed. Patch leads were made up by me using high quality Van Damme cable and good quality jacks. Tuner>Cali 76>DCX>HX One>Amp The DCX is set to EQ mode, and really does just make things sound better. The footswitch bottom left is to move up or down through the HX One presets; I’m working on just using drive, octaver, chorus and an envelope filter. -
Agreed , which is why I am using a power bank USB output and standard 9v input . So 5 to 6 hours on power bank battery and if it runs down just connect a standard 9v pedal PSU. https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_powerplant_powerbank.htm?msclkid=99502965fa64165f0eb44006467e47e7&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping UK&utm_term=4575755105892823&utm_content=GI

Because they forgot they didn't do it at the same time as the guitar! -
Well, one thing, if it is not designed for it, if (for instance) I plugged some headphones into the TRS aux output of the X18 ihave, and it could drive it (and I have never tried, so can't say for definite), the ears would be inverted from each other - the tip and ring of a TRS aux are the positive and negative of the output, and the ground is just the cable ground. Headphones are tip to ground and ring to ground per ear, so in headphones when your left ear was pushing, your right ear would be pulling and viceversa. But irrelevant if the QC18 is designed to also run a headphone, I assume it fixes that.

I don’t think shipping to The Hague is a practical option for two reasons. Firstly, including the flight case and foot switch, this amp weighs over 40kg. Secondly, with the UK now outside of the EU, the amp will be subject to import duties and VAT on arrival in the Netherlands. So, on those grounds I’ll stick with my original post which is collection only or meet halfway here in the UK.

The very excellent Boss ME-90B for those who prefer physical knobs, buttons and foot switches. It's a great pedal indeed, save your own presets or use it as an all in one pedalboard. Packed with features and incredibly reliable. Loving the amp simulations now that I'm using in-ears a lot. Reason for sale: I have other pedal based things like my wireless system and I want to put them on a board so unfortunately this needs to go to make room. It's been very well looked after and will come with a power supply and the original box. The Bluetooth adaptor is not for sale I'm afraid, I'll be using that on my new pedal. Pickup from London, Cambridge or St Albans. Or I can post it to you at cost.
