You know you could be banned for having showed this... Nice work, that said and I like some Béla Fleck from time to time. 😉

Waterboys at York Barbican in Thursday who were great. First time I'd seen them and rockier than I was expecting, not a fiddle, whistle or the like in evidence. They showcased the new "Life, Death And Dennis Hopper" album which I enjoyed, but those with me were a bit agnostic about, at best. Sound was a bit weird balance wise, with some instrumentation not as audible as others eg Hammond vs piano. Bass player was very "on it" (Aongus Ralston) using what looked like a Wilcock Mullarkey for the first section, before swapping to a P bass.

The series before was called the American Special, wasn't it? There will probably be another similar product with a couple of small improvements and something taken away (my bet is truss rod above the nut and skunk stripe on the back of the neck, like the cheaper Mexican instruments and the newest American Ultra II.)

Sounds very promising, except with the Full Circle... The electric bass sounds good too through this amp. Following this with great interest.

greghagger started following Turning Pentatonics Into Blues Scales
-
You might already be aware of the 'blues note', which is a note that guitarists often use in their riffs and solos. If you use this 'blues note' in your bass lines or licks, your lines will sound more authentically bluesy. But did you know that this 'blues note' is part of the Blues Scale and that there are in fact two blues notes, the flat 5th and the flat 3rd? The blues scales are based off of the pentatonic scales and contain one extra note. It's important to have these scales under your fingers if you want to have creative freedom with your Blues bass playing. I’ve made a video lesson explaining how to turn pentatonic scales into blues scales. You can also download a free PDF containing handy fret diagrams of the various scales - link in video description. Enjoy!

I don’t think they’re allowed to say ‘made in USA’ any more unless every component is made in USA. But yes, probably not much craftsman carving going on.

I've got one of these as well! Bought it back in 1987 or so and replaced the pick-ups with EMGs - tis a surprisingly funky little number! Doesn't get much use any more I'm afraid... -

Hence why you hardly ever see them for sale! 🙂

Since entering the world of double bass ownership, I’ve watched a lot of the content put out by the guys at Upton Bass in the good’ol US of A. Last week they posted this interesting video of a combo they are developing specifically for double bass. Interesting combination of a down firing 10” woofer with a front mounted mid-range driver, built-in HPF and an eq ‘specifically voiced for double bass’. Still in the prototype stage, but I thought I’d share here. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJZ-FN3yk-b/
