  2. Don’t use Ultra Low or Ultra High ( it doesn’t need them ) Mid selector 800 HZ was my preferred It was easy to get a good tone with bass mid treble using above settings and balance gain / master volume to taste Mine was running mid master volume at loud gigs and it was not breaking up which was the sound I wanted Naturally if you crank the input gain it will sound more raspy etc etc It sounds better as the night wears on as the power tubes get nice and warm Finally never turn it on without cab connected !!!

New Video...Thank You for any feedback.
  4. Good idea! I might be able to find some BC funds to pay for such an attendance if we are able to agree on someone that fits, who wants to come anyway and doesn't need convincing with cash (which is how I ended up being a chippendale)
  5. As far as I know, yes. It's the satin finish - Natural Velvet finish. I'll be able to tell you if it's ever been refinished when I pick it up tomorrow...
  6. Finding people who do stuff for free is tricky, especially if they have to travel any distance... Lee Voss from Andertons came a few years back but he's now mainly on their video side. I can invite him as I know him...
  7. I really like D'Addario XTs when going down the coated route.
  8. £££spendy though? I picked up my SY-200 £175 used.
  9. Late to the thread but interesting reading here. I previously owned a 63 500/1 many many years ago and recently bought a Harley Benton Beatbass VS to experiment with. I can tell you that it's Chinese, it has a hollow body with a block underneath the bridge, though it doesn't span the whole width so the bridge feet are still in open air, floating on the facing so to speak, and a small block right at the end which the string anchor and strap button is screwed to. The string spacing is 15mm, the nut width is 42mm. Once the upper strap button is repositioned to the neck heel like a later Hofner, it balances pretty well considering the string tuners are normal size. I have been looking for a short/medium scale true hollow archtop body 5 string bass with a floating bridge in a price range I could afford but to no avail. So anyway, this used HB turned up for sale locally for about half the new price last year. The experiment was to see if I could convert it to 5 string. I went a bit further than originally planned... It's now a 5 string fretless with three 4-wire humbucking pickups and a piezo bridge. The pickups are wired like a Strat i.e 5 way switch and two tone controls, the piezo has a tone control and it has a master vol and pup/piezo blend control. Because of the string anchor arrangement, it uses standard long scale strings (can't find short scale 5 string flatwound sets for sale) String spacing is now just a tad over 11mm (slightly more between B and E strings) and sounds and plays superbly. I still have a couple of things to do to it, like the Gilmour mod so I can add the bridge pup to the neck pup. It sounds like my old Hofner with the addition of a more double bassy sound from the piezo.
  10. Nice. I'd be interested to know if that bridge setup is correct.
  11. ...would inviting a youtuber or two be too much? Someone like Danny Sapko would be an interesting addition, and Andertons is very close...
  12. Apologies if this has been answered before, it's difficult to dig up answers in this thread due to the size. Planning to get a Morningstar controller of some kind (MC3 or 6) to help navigate through patches, etc. I'm running firmware v3.6 on the OG model. I'd like to program the MIDI controller to select specific patches via 'Program Change'. I'm new to MIDI controllers, I get the concept of sending a CC value to change banks (CC90 and CC91 respectively for the F.I.) but I'm not sure how to approach the first few options that have names rather than CC values. The user interface for the Morningstar seems to have a box where you type the CC value, would you simply type the CC name here instead? Thanks!

  14. Nice, but afraid that just looks like a worse ME-90B to me 🤪 Bass VT DI or Origin Effects definitely still top of the tree. The OE stuff is not cheap though, eh...
  15. Just make sure you don't end up like I did. I quit my band after 12 years... Now I have a Telecaster and a guitar amp. I feel dirty.
  16. Thank you. I will flip a coin as to which to try first then!
  17. Tracking on their latest release is very disappointing from online reviews.
  18. As they have round cores I would say there's a bit mellower than the D'Ads. Watch this video, from 1:56 to 2:42 and then again from 6:49 to 7:35, which might help.
  19. I picked this up from @Basilpea not that long ago. It's a great cab, but it isn't a cosmetic match to my other AT210, so being the fickle person I am I want to replace this... It's got some small dents from being gigged, but overall in good condition and absurdly light. You can pick it up with two fingers! It's also very loud. W52 x D33,5 x H57 cm 600 watts at 4 ohms 103dB SPL Also comes with GR Bass soft padded cover. GR say: The lightest 2×10 bass cabinet in the world. Thanks to its size, lightness, and power, the AT 210 is one of the most versatile cabinets in the entire catalog. Suitable for both small and large live shows, it allows you to always have your sound with you. With the AeroTech line, you can have the incredible innovation of our Carbon Fibre cabinets combined with the Pure Sound of GR, which is the pure sound of your instrument. Incredible sound, lightweight, power, impact resistance, and a beautiful modern design. I'm afraid this is collection only, as I don't have anything suitable to ship it in. No trades either thanks. I'm using @Basilpea's pictures, which I hope he's okay with.

  20. This amp is now £400 on Amazon. Incredible. I will drop the price for the amp, adapter, pedalboard and case to £500, which is still a good deal I think, but I really cannot go any lower. If it doesn't sell at this price I will just keep it as a spare.
  21. Can we go back to the first statement in the thread. Please justify four basses to yourself otherwise many of us are in deep trouble…..
  22. Happened to me on the Fender Jazz 5 string I had and it was fitted with Shaller strap locks! The strap lock nut came unscrewed, bass hit the ground take a chunk of paint off and also knocked the lap top flying I was reading from (it wasn’t my regular band).
  23. I've been asked for dimensions on this amp: W = 21" D = 9.75" H = 9.25" (+ handle)
