  1. Past hour
  2. John is a real gent. Travelled all the way down to purchase a bass cabinet. Great communication. 100 percent trustworthy guy. Would highly recommend!
  3. I'd also say that any business where the clientele age averages more than 65 is on the slide without new blood anyway...
  4. Ooooo, yer all posh: for a good while (maybe 30 gigs?) I've been using a pair of £62 Lekato MS-02s - super light, tiny and handy, battery lasts hours (never got down to even half the charge lights on them with 4-hour gigs (start to finish)), 5ms latency, no dropouts and even a stereo option that, as mentioned above, I've never got to use...you'll need an XLR to 3.5mm jack adaptor, but that's it...
  5. I agree with you on a fair amount of the above. To me the game changer came with the introduction of the Specials and the Shorty. I use a Darkray and an EBMM shorty on gigs, both have great tone and are 8.5 and 7.5lb respectively
  6. The price point is really good but so little online about them. I pulled the trigger and ordered one 😜
  7. Agreed - my favourite gigging bass case!
  8. That top shouts a routed (slap) pop spacing between the neck and the neck pickup. If you add a ramp between pickups, everything's fine.
  9. Congrats. Bear in mind this can be a rabbit hole.....I started off with a second hand Mikey Way Squier Mustang and I've ended up with, what I consider to be, 2 expensive shorties. So the journey has involved money, but I got there in the end and the shorties take 90% of the gigs these days.
  10. That looks awesome and great fun to play!
  11. 'Blade' used to be a top quality Japanese manufacturer but I'd be surprised if this is the exact same outfit even though the name and logo look the same.
  12. Y'see, I did apologise for mentioning the t-word...it was only as a comparitive example, yer Honour... 😐😀
  13. Wonder if a standard fender 51 pickguard would fit?
  14. Does it play and sound good? How much does it owe you? I kind of like it, but your priorities and preferences may not match mine... So if it bothers you then you should probably think about sending it back....
  15. Anybody played one of these? Look very nice! £399 seems like a good price!
  16. Price reduced to £350. Merry Christmas all…and I haven’t been drinking.
  17. I am using and abusing (for 6 months, at least 3 gigs a week) the Xvive U45. The rest of my band has the U4s and we are all happy with them. I have to say that I have mine attached to my pedalboard because I have a Rolls PM351 before it to level my bass myself (I had horrible experiences with soundguys). Except for ona project that we make our own mix using an app, for the rest I use the Xvive. I have used the Sennheiser XSW in the past with good results. Some droputs sometimes, but it was all good overall.
  18. Hi, Just received a Cort space 4 and the poplar top is badly mismatched. It should be sliced from the same bit of wood so the top and bottom half are a mirror image. You can see the bottom half is darker with hardly any markings. Would this bother you? All the pics I’ve seen online show the two halves fairly well matched. Thing is I sent the first one back because it was mismatched and had a few other minor issues but this one is even worse. Is it reasonable to expect them to roughly match? Would this bother you?
  19. Ahhhh...the complexities and beauty of club land in the North. I'd say we do about 70% of our gigs in WMCs now though the differential in 'pay' between them and pubs is not what it was. Unfortunately there are still a number of the 'bingo comes first' outfits, and I still scratch my head at why they pay out for a band....though a sizable number are now opting to cheaper solo/duo backing track jobs to cut down costs. While these can be a disappointing gig they have their moments, though Gladis and Wilf rushing off a quarter into the last spot to catch the last bus can be unnerving - I've never understood the rigid set times that put us on too late when this is a factor. These sort of places seem to be dying on their arses with closures every week and implosions of the committees due to finances/reducing footfall. Conversely some WMCs are still thriving, do less or no bingo type activity and concentrate on good entertainment. We love these places and try and support as best we can.
  20. Dr J Sparrow sold the the man in the hat 🎩 other things still lurking.
  21. Yep, I agree. It's a beaut. Should have arrived sooner tho.
  22. Oh, thanks for pointing that out! 😉 I'm singing it on Friday to a packed house and now I have to remember not to get it wrong. But not remember too hard or I definitely will!
  23. ...and as long as we talk about tonewoods, we should talk about toneshapes. Every shape has a resonance, where frequency is affected by density, and stiffness among other features. Neck is one long and moving object when hit. I hate this tonewood discussion because it is always and every time simplified to the wood species and the manufacturer. Physical specs and features do not interest anyone. Lame.
  24. Fantastic! Best of luck with this
  25. Just got some Pots, knobs, jack socket, cap from a P bass from Niel who also sent extra tone caps as a surprise! luverly juberly Thanks Mr Peel 🧐
  26. SWR Workingman's 12 100 watt combo. Purchased as a fixer-upper... now working after input jack sockets replaced. £50 Collection Only due to weight. BR6
