  2. I use my Helix for guitar and bass and I love it. Obviously both units have their fans and I've seen both on stages for guitarists, but I can't recall every seeing a bassist with a Kemper. I've never used one, but perhaps the Helix is better suited for bass? I'm not fussed about "authentic" sounds either. Just good ones.
  3. Anecdote : It was a concert for the launch of the first Kiemsa CD. The local hall was packed; the whole evening went off splendidly. Come the final number, Our Eldest, on guitar, had imagined a novel way of playing his solo spot, at the end of the song. At high volume, his Laney amp screeching, he took a pair of wire cutters and proceeded to cut each guitar string in turn, to the stupefaction, and cheers, of all present. End of the last song (or so it had been planned...). The acclamation for an encore became too pressing, so they had to return to the stage, but Our Eldest had to remain silent, with a red face, whilst the others played out the occasion. One had to be there; it was a great evening.
  4. Which could be rapidly disproved by looking at the forum database.
  5. Just to update on the set up after my purchase here. Whilst it's hard to tell, it felt like the bass I bought from The Double Bass Room had had minimal set up if at all. I'm sure you could ask for a set up, but it felt very much like I was paying for a bass, not a fully set up bass. I'm up in the midlands so I then took my bass to Bass Bags in Ripley near Nottingham and they fitted an adjustable bridge, and did a full set up for Jazz pizz for me (and installed my pick up I already had). The bass always sounded great, not a lot of difference there, but the playability from the set up at Bass Bags made a massive difference. The point being, for anyone who picks up this thread in the future. I don't think the Double Bass Room spend much if any time doing a setup. Your buying an instrument and then you can choose how, when and with whom you get a setup done.
  6. So far it seems pretty good. I don’t know what the user base is like if you decided to use it for promoting your stuff, but as a host for ideas, it does it just like Soundcloud did.
  7. It only needs someone who has been banned with a chip on the shoulder to make up some really heinous crap involving kids...
  8. This isn't the sort of legislation where someone will be checking everyone for compliance. Like Health and Safety, only high risk organisations will be inspected. For others it's a case of 'if something goes wrong, you had better have your ducks in a row'. And just like H&S, that means risk assessing and then taking any required action. If something bad happens but you can show your assessment of risk was reasonable and you took appropriate actions to mitigate that risk, you have a sound defence.

  11. Hi, I’m selling my Darkglass B3K. Well looked after and sounds great. I’m just not using it anymore. £160 price includes UK Postage. Here’s some info from Darkglass: An intuitive format that contains brutality and clarity at the same time is what the B3K delivers. A defined and powerful overdrive, with a simple layout, it sets no boundaries or rules to unleashing the desired tone. Blend Mixes the clean input signal with the overdriven signal. The clean signal remains at unity gain while the volume of the overdriven signal is set by the Level knob, allowing for fine control of the blend ratio. Tone Controls the high frequency content of the sound. A variable low pass filter from 3kHz (ccw) to 8kHz (cw). Level Sets the volume of the overdriven signal. Drive Sets the amount of saturation in the overdriven signal. Grunt When engaged provides a massive low end boost to really thicken your sound. Mid Boost Gives a subtle 6dB boost from 300 Hz to 1kHz to help you cut through a bit more. Output Connect from the ¼” Output jack to the input of your amplifier or another effects pedal. Input Connect your instrument or output from your pedal board to the ¼” mono jack. 9V DC Only use a regulated 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug. Dimensions Width: 75 mm / 3″ Length: 111 mm/ 4¼″ Height: 43 mm / 1¾″ Weight: 250 g / 0.55 lb Warning The Microtubes B3K has a current draw of 20mA. Only use a regulated 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug. Unregulated power supplies and/or higher voltages may result in suboptimal noise performance and even damage your unit, voiding the warranty. Thanks, Michael
  12. Hi, I’m selling my Aguilar Octamizer version 2. Well looked after and very little use. £185 price includes UK Postage. Here’s a bit of info from Aguilar: AN ALL-ANALOG OCTAVE PEDAL THAT CREATES A WIDE RANGE OF MUSICAL SOUNDS AN OCTAVE BELOW YOUR BASS SIGNAL. Modeled with old school and new school needs in mind, the Octamizer features independent volume controls for both the Clean and Octave sounds. This makes dialing in the exact amount of each a cinch. The two discrete signal paths also have their own tone controls that were specifically designed to enhance and expand their musical possibilities. The CLEAN TONE control uses a full spectrum tilt EQ, allowing for the boosting of treble while cutting bass or boosting of bass while cutting treble. This unique circuit allows you to create a clean sound that creates an octave doubling effect or to blend the sounds together for a great thick, snarky synth tone. *Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Proprietary detector circuit for superior tracking Continuously variable multipole low-pass filter for Octave sound Dual filter architecture Full spectrum tilt EQ for clean sound Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Cheers! Michael
  13. Which is pretty well what you quoted that I said - we don't have a feed, we dont' have algorithms that agrigate content and decide what to push to you or recommend. what you see is either everything or topics you have posted in, or been quoted in etc. and you could choose that. We can't rely on not having young people, there is nothing in place to establish the age of the users, which is why we try and keep the worst stuff out of the topics like the meme threads - yes, I know as people say kids see worse stuff than that at school and at home, but we are not liable for that. I think you will find there are more than that. I can think of over 20
  14. 400 miles to pick up my Warwick Streamer Stage 2 Broadneck 5. Best bass decision I've ever made especially seeing what they cost nowadays.
  15. So beer drinking countries = L & XL Wine drinking countries = M Makes sense, who ever heard of a wine belly?
  16. Spotted an Acinonyx in Toronto for a good price. They’re discontinued , any future runs will be built in the USA so the price will go up steeply. I’ve been looking at them since they came out. Strongly tempted , but holding off.
  17. Yesterday I bought a Squier Jaguar off Ian. Everything went smoothly with great communication throughout. I can recommend Ian as a good man to do business with.
  18. I've know drummers place thier hand underneath to mute the snates. Much like the guitarist who won't shut up at rehursal, I'd love to stand in front of them with a set of wire cutters.
  19. Different processing? Sit differently in the mix with the different instrumentation? It's the same vocal track. Also for a "pop dance" mix you'd expect the vocals to be a bit more prominent in the mix. Matt Pop also did us an instrumental version of his edit mix. We've been considering dropping this version into the set for selected gigs.
  20. L & XL are definitely the sellers in UK, USA, NL and Germany but in Spain and Italy we sell mostly M - I think they are generally smaller in the Med.
  21. I think I have a plan to get EMGs into this bass without making any irreversible mods to the bass. I'll report back if it works later in the week
  22. Huge problem. To compare: Andy Partridge wrote just one song about his terrible ex, but XTC felt the need to write a whole album about this ... I already have my coat on ...
  23. I probably have it set wrong. I'll ask an expert when I get chance. I have it sounding great when it's on, and when it's off it doesn't rattle, so I figured that was good enough, but yeh, if I want to do a drum solo and switch between on and off it's basically impossible. Thankfully I've not been asked/allowed
