  1. Past hour
  2. Change of plans this weekend, so sadly can’t make it now.
  3. Just bought a lovely Vanderkley cab from Dave. Really easy transaction. Arrived nice and quickly in perfect condition. Good comms all the way.
  4. I anticipate arriving c.10.00.
  5. That’s probably the one I’ve heard then. However, @Wolverinebass makes a good point. I remember when I first bought my Schroeder cab, that everyone was raving about back the. I got it home and hated it. But I trusted the words of others, stuck with it and took it to rehearsal, where it just sat in the mix and was sweet as a sweet thing. I did many gigs with that cab and only once did it not sound good, due the lousy venue acoustics (basically a glass box with a carpeted floor). All that said, The Ox’s tone at the end of his career, didn’t even sound good in the mix to me, just all fizz, but he liked it and he was who was and who I’ll never be, so what do I know, other than what I like?
  6. You'll be looking for 'double ball end' for headless bass. Here's a useful start: https://www.basscentre.com/elites-dbe-series/elites-double-ball-end-v.html
  7. I can't find anywhere online.. Do I need to buy the adapter? So I can use any strings?
  8. Hello, This is a Pedaltrain Novo 24, complete with tour case, which has a small dent and scuff acquired by a delivery driver, which you can see on the damage to the box. Otherwise, perfect condition with cable ties and tape. Would prefer collection or meet, can ship as i still have the box but would cost an extra £15 i reckon. Any questions welcome, thanks for looking. IMG_1597.MP4 IMG_1598.MP4 IMG_1596.MP4 IMG_1594.MP4 IMG_1592.MP4 IMG_1593.MP4 IMG_1591.MP4 IMG_1590.MP4 IMG_1589.MP4
  9. You just might be misunderstanding how power amps are rated and specified however, therefore your generalization inaccuracy.
  10. I get points for effort if not distance … Bus to station Edinburgh to Glasgow on train, walk across Glasgow centre, train to paisley, bus to random suburb and then back the other way… why the extra points, it was a peavey t40 in its case and another bass or something I forget. The bass anlone was over 14lb. Ever tried to carry a T40 by hand across the central belt? Couldn’t even switch hands because of whatever the other thing was, a combo amp maybe??
  11. If the amp is quiet with nothing plugged into the input, this means that the interference signal is entering from the bass or wiring. Now, when it's quiet using humbuckers but noisy using single coil (or split coil), this confirms that the noise is environmental and is entering the bass through the pickups. In humbucking mode, this cancels common mode environmental noise, which is working as it should. The same thing applies to the Nordstrand pickups, which allow you to sweep between single coil and hum bucking, and the noise nulls out when fully humbucking. Also, the noise profile is mostly 50 (or 60Hz) with very little second or third harmonics which also indicates that the noise is radiated from the power source and is unrelated to the amp's power supply. I bet the noise changes with your position in the room, or just turning it around a bit? Things that cause this include an amp with a noisy line frequency (lead sled) transformer that has a loose radiated electro-magentic field, large motors, some lighting, and some old school fans. There is a slight possibility that the noise is due to circulating currents in your power ground/earthing system, but unlikely since the amp would usually have some noise with nothing plugged into it.
  12. Swallowed By The Oceans Tide - Sulphur Aeon
  13. Thank you for the kind words! I'm trying to be a lot more disciplined with pedals so there are some here I feel a bit queasy about selling. All part of the process, I suppose.
  14. You sure I can’t sway you @Geek99
  15. A great multipedal with a community of users sharing patches. This unit has effects and amp/cab emulators that you can string together in 3s, easily switching any of them on or off on the fly, or altering the signal path when setting up. The software on Windows (I have an XP laptop just for this as I use Linux and Wine which doesn't work well with Windows only USB apps) is solid to save your pathes. I gig with this in pubs, clubs and small festivals and it's perfectly usable. Runs on batteries too as a backup to the PSU. The onboard tuner is good too. Can't fault it and highly recommend anyone new to pedals to get one as an introduction.
  16. I do mean to go back and watch more. It popped up on my YouTube feed today and I watched about three minutes. Does it get better? I was always intrigued by Entwhistle's bass collection (I had the hardcover book years ago!) but bloody hell, is he boring to listen to! I know he had a reputation as a fairly sombre and unenthusiastic sort...
  17. No joy after a couple of days to settle. I might just put the flats back on. They were showing it who was boss.
  18. Today
  19. I'll be there early doors - no point otherwise!
  20. I may need to borrow this on Saturday before it goes to its new owner, if that's OK with the new owner. Ordered some stands last week but it is unclear if they will arrive in time
  21. A few days late and no pictures (so no incriminating evidence), but I had fun gigs on Friday and Saturday. Friday was with The Underbites, loosely a punk band playing originals. The venue was Arlene’s Grocery in lower Manhattan. Arlene’s is a fixture in the rock scene in NYC. Good backline, good PA, good house engineer and, overall, just a great place to play. We had a modest crowd but they were enthusiastic. We played a fast, tight set that was well received. The high point for me was that the young crowd that had come to see the earlier (and much younger) band stayed to hear us as well (not always a given in NYC) and they were VERY complimentary. I don’t think they were expecting the old guys to be a much better band - but we were! Saturday was another punk band; Bedpan Fight. An absolutely hilarious group with ridiculous original songs. I’m a recent member of the band but I’ve known them for years. The (excellent ) drummer, my old friend Vic, is even newer to the band but we’ve played together many times and we’re a formidable rhythm section. The venue was Mr. Beery’s, a dive bar about an hour outside the city on Long Island and the lineup was four female-fronted punk bands. All the bands were great, the atmosphere was very collegial, the local crowd was very welcoming and it was a really fun time. The high point of that one was the bassist from one of the other bands, a very lovely young lady who was easily six feet tall ( and a very good bassist) , coming up to me to tell me how much she loved our set, loved my playing and thought my Rickenbacker was beautiful! It takes one to know one. That ended up being a very late night for me; by the time I dropped the drummer off at his apartment in Queens and then drove home to Brooklyn it was past 2:30 but it wrapped up two fun nights of gigs.
  22. I love the P&C circuit, I love how it gets distorted and metalic rather than agggressive
  23. Sea Creatures - SOAK
  24. Lovely looking bass. As well as the truss-rod, do these have carbon rods reinforcing the neck?
  25. Flying (fish) without wings - Westlife
