The clip says it was a "Lady of Soul" show, so I assume it was more about Aretha/female singers, and Stevie was a guest appearance for this song. There appear to be so many US TV shows like this where they have a house band and guest singers come on and off stage, so I doubt it would have been Stevie's band/Nate Watts.

Zoom Ultra Fuzz UF-01: Had one years ago and had some nostalgic curiosity. Just as good as I remember and not super keen to get rid, but there's other things I want and with 85 DIY pedals on the shelves, I have a strict one in one out policy on branded pedals... For those who don't know, the ultra fuzz was something of a hidden gem - often very wrongly considered a fuzz factory clone, it's absolutely anything but. Can do noisy squeals but also does very rich dense heavy distortion. This one is in absolutely immaculate condition, with box. Price is £125 and includes postage with adequate insurance. Pickup available from Sheffield or Leeds also an option Zoom MS-70CDR+ Multistomp Now the other end of the Zoom spectrum, the new version of the Chorus, Delay, Reverb multistomp pedal. Just not using it enough to keep, it's genuinely amazing but I've just got my sounds settled with other pedals. Had from new and never left the desk, absolutely immaculate with box. £90 posted with adequate insurance.

Been looking into arps a bit more since finding the one Boss SY 200 arp fx pretty decent and usable live (e.g. on songs such as Green Day Broken Dreams). The SY 200 has relatively limited options for tweaking the sounds of the provided preset arps, albeit it gives you 18 to choose from! This does sound like another interesting use of the Boss Slicer and I feel an SL-2 ought to make its way into the Krow household in the not too distant future!

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

No - it's the expensive ones as well! Funnily enough I bought myself a milestone guitar a few years back (PRS CU24) without really thinking much about the top, but the longer I've had it, while it plays beautifully, I'm just getting more and more triggered by this issue. The question is do I care about this enough to move on something I saved for a very long time for? -

New Fender Vintera II Roadworn 60's Precision
Misdee replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
These basses look pretty good for a Mexican-made Fender, if a tad pricey. The extra cost has gone on the cosmetics if there's nothing special about the pickup or hardware. Sounds like a decent enough P Bass. In terms of cosmetics these basses would be more period-correct with an off-white pickguard, but tortoiseshell = vintage so that's what we get. I would want to change it for a white one, so add that to the overall cost and it's getting even more expensive for a Mexican Fender Regarding of the neck and overall playability I think the biggest drawback isn't the finish so much as the 1.75 nut width. I know some people like that vintage spec, but I think the majority of players find something closer to the "B" neck at 1.625 much more comfortable. I know I certainly do. I think Fender would sell more of these basses at that spec. The most special thing about these basses is that Fender has deigned them worthy of a colour scheme and lightly-aged look usually reserved for their Custom Shop basses. That's their biggest selling-pojnt. -

It just shows they're using random pieces of wood rather than a bookmatched cut and don't really care. Presumably they're on the cheaper models (or maybe you have to pay more for the carefully selected matching ones). -

If we are talking about finishes, and maybe this is more of a guitar issue, but really mismatched tops really get to me. While I understand it is difficult to predict how the stain will take surely it's possible to do better given the price of these things? PRS & Gibson seem to be the main transgressors: -

A friend recorded what was more or less a solo album 20 years ago, with a stong mental health theme. Under the name Fractured Persona several gigs were one to promote it, and it got a decent reception, if not huge sales. The band has been completely 'rebuilt' around Fritz, who started writing new songs with a guitarist, drum machine and bandcamp. There's now six of us and we've got nine songs ready for a first gig today, three from the album. Lots of creative freedom. The gig will include some 'interesting' theatrics! Vety different from my other bands!

High Quality 3/4 DB Gigbag - suggestions?
Happy Jack replied to Happy Jack's topic in EUB and Double Bass
After a truly ridiculous amount of to-ing and fro-ing, measurement and comparison, emails ignored or answered uselessly, I've ended up buying: https://www.thomann.co.uk/protec_c313_deluxe_34_bass_bag.htm Will it be any good? Watch this space ... -

Might be worth looking at retrovibe to see if he has any that are the correct size. https://retrovibe.co.uk/product-category/parts/pickups/

That's a real shame. Although I live in south wales, after my local luthier stopped taking in basses, Dave at bassbags has been my go-to guy for maintaining my double bass - most recently reaming the body for a new end pin.

Found one! Sticks out a bit but who cares. Thanks everyone, really appreciate it. 😀

Interested in this too. At some point I’d like to upgrade my Gretsch, from what i can see, I’ve only seen that TV Jones offer a few mini humbucker options… https://tvjones.com/bass-pickups/ And, i think Seymour Duncan also offer a Mini Bass Humbucker. Can’t comment on any of them as it’s just from my own research rather than experience.

It seems that Bassbags has gone belly up. A friend took his bass to them for restoration and sale on comission...then thought to check the company's finances. Failed to submit accounts so threatened with strike off. Heavily in debt; debt greater than value of stock. Now called in a liquidator. It's a real shame as they've been a useful local resource for me. Always friendly and full of advice and a useful place to buy bits and bobs. Anyway.... don't order anything from them, you'll probably not get it. ...but watch out for a liquidation sale of mid range basses!
