Gigbag choices for semi-acoustic Hollowbody basses
BigRedX replied to Pinball's topic in Accessories and Misc
I had the Rockbag to fit the Warwick StarBass which I expect would fit most other semi-acoustic basses. Wasn't particularly impressed with the quality and it had to be binned after a 18 months of use twice a week due to zip and bottom of the case wearing out. Also I has never impressed with the strap system. Like a lot of gig bags it would have fine if all I wanted was something that offered a bit of protection for the bass while in a car and from carrying from the car into the venue. For actually using the carry a bass on my back for any distance, very poor. -
Bought this a while ago with no thought as to what to use it for, other than it was a massive peg (😲🤭). However, if your need is greater than mine.........

Interesting choice of decor. Looks like wallpaper stripping in a neglected 1970s house. I did however expect you to continue the title line with, "... a man with three buttocks!" -
Whether or not to use the FX loop depends on 2 things: 1. Do you use the pre-amp of your amp to produce "drive" sounds via valves or some other circuitry? If so some effects like delay (definitely) and chorus/flanger/phaser (maybe depending on the sound you are after) will benefit from being on the effects loop. 2. Do you have effects that are expecting line-level rather than instrument level input signals? These always perform better in the effects loop.

Yeah, I know - been toying with the idea for ages. It does mean shelling out on a tablet though!

Anyone bought a cheap (Chinese) neck off eBay?
NancyJohnson replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Bass Guitars
A few weeks in and it still gives me immense joy just looking at it. I don't really have basses out all the time (generally on rotation), but right now it's just this one. Neck hasn't moved at all and thankfully the new smell has disappeared. Buy with confidence from the named seller. -
We have a guitarist who will seek out any supporting structure (pillar) to stand behind. To be fare he doesn't also use a music stand.

Try putting it onto a tablet. There are plenty of apps about for the purpose. Hercules do a great stand (other brands are available). It has the added advantage of reducing the size of the barrier between you and the audience (some might see that as a disadvantage, I guess).

Been learning these for a jam with a couple of good friends a week tomorrow. We each picked a couple of songs. I've been putting a fair bit of practice in as they are both pro musicians and I'm very much an amateur! So What is definitely the most challenging for me as it's not the type of music I normally play.

Definitely surprised me here, when I clicked on a thread promising something completely different I never in a million years expected to see the 1,539,025th Jazz copy. -

Just bought a Dusenberg bass off Mark. Lovely bloke to deal with, always prompt with communication and highly recommended. The Dusenberg is top quality and Mark took a lot of trouble to make sure that it arrived unscathed via Parcelforce.

Craig Robinson started following Glokenklang Duo 2x10 (4ohm)
-
For sale My Glok Duo in very good used condition. Excellent build quality and super sounding cab. I picked this up relatively recently for a two, 4ohm cab set up, but have changed amps so I'm back to two 8ohm cabs. Great one cab solution with 400 watts available and an adjustable tweeter. I will consider packing for your courier and risk, UK only please. Cheers.

In short : to the left will have more asymmetrical clipping (top part of waveform being cut off more than the bottom), to the right will have more symmetrical clipping (both top and bottom part of waveform being clipped equally). However this control also can impact the gain of the tube a bit which is probably why Ainsley hears the sound being distorted more with the control to the right.

You know when you're stripping wallpaper and you find some funky 60s/70s wallpaper behind the stuff you're stripping?

Hahaha I just received an easily from the Bass Day Europe folk stating that they are looking forward to seeing me at the event this coming Sunday!!! After the debacle of cancelling the event, they haven't updated their automated email messages either.

The reverse delay model in the old Zoom G1on, G1Xon, B1on, B1Xon, MS-50G, MS-60B and MS-70CDR is pretty damn great, actually.
