  2. A simple to use is tce Spectracomp. A suitable drive, that's a complicated question. Depending on your bass, and taste, the options are practically endless. Without trying it is very hard to buy anything. I once loaned many units and tried them side by side against each other. One sounded good with one bass, another with another bass. Any comment saying this is the thing should be treated with doubt.
  3. Is there any benefit to putting this speaker on poles at all? I happen to have a pair of Quickset Hercules tripods for astronomy use. These will easily take 40Kg each and probably closer to 60Kg without breaking sweat. No idea how to, but thats a different problem to solve... Rob
  4. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
  5. I'm winding everything back now and having a clearcut of all the stuff I'm unlikely to ever use again. I'm open to sensible offers for any of these - the £900 shown in the listing is for the whole lot, collected. Prices include postage to UK addresses apart from the Take 5 - please PM to discuss collection or delivery options for that. Given that this is a clearout, I'm not really looking for swaps but feel free to let me know if you have anything - to be honest, it's unlikely but you never know! Sequential Take 5 analogue synth - immaculate condition, boxed, upgraded to the latest firmware and patches £750 Zoom R12 portable multitrack recorder - bought to record the band at rehearsal and only used once before the band imploded. Boxed, immaculate £150 Roland VT4 voice transformer - bought when I entertained fantasies of singing backing vox. Again, used just the once and then retired along with the rest of my dreams. £125 UNO drum machine - a great little drum machine, fantastic for giving us a basic beat whenever the drummer failed to make rehearsals. Light usage, boxed and immaculate condition £100 Waldorf Streichfett string synth - surprisingly versatile little synth that does a great job of recreating the sound of 70s string synths. Immaculate, boxed £150 Thanks for looking - if you have any questions or would like photographs, please PM

  6. Your thoughts are similar to mine. I know that I’m privileged to be able to give away my time for free, or at my own expense, when I want to. It’s something I couldn’t have done when I had big bills to pay and a young family.

    Set up

Yes so did I. One of the master builders at Fender Custom Shop mentioned it. He doesn’t like working with it coz it’s brittle especially if it’s a very dark maple that has been well roasted. Hungry now.
  8. Good luck Nige! Remember, you're auditioning them too....!
  9. The Rash, on E Coli Records if I remember correctly.
  10. It’s 3.2kgs according to a rough bathroom scale measurement.

  12. Selling my Olinto P-Bass from 2024 in "British Racing Green". I got this bass in a trade a short while ago. It definitely sounds better than my former Fender CS Pino and Sean Hurley, or Moon bass. This one sounds like Freddie Washington’s P-Bass! Awesome fingerstyle and slap tone! However, I already have two other 4-strings that I barely use, so this one has to go. Alder body Roasted maple neck Madagascar rosewood Weight: 3.7–3.8 kg Includes case Sale is made with exclusion of any warranty. No returns, no guarantee. (Partial) trades are not possible! But in this case we have to meet in person! I am interested in Adamovic, Mattison, Yamaha JP/NE, Status, preferably 6-strings. Not interested in Fender, Ibanez, Sandberg or fretless basses. I am always open to sensible offers.
  13. If I was auditioning, it would be 3 songs and that's it. If the decision was a yes straight away then I might 'jam' the other 7 but that's a ridiculous ask for an auditionee.
  14. A bit of Tolex and it'll be as good as new 😀
  15. Dust, Pubes, Dog Hair and Deadskin were the members of a short-lived punk band I heard on John Peel's radio show.
  16. The correct answer is always "it depends". Depends on the band, depends on the charity, depends on the event. There's a world of difference between a professional function band being asked to do a charity dinner at a five star hotel and a local pub band being asked to play at a village fete. Like you, I have my own lines but it's all gravy.
  17. Hi Folks, I've just started jamming with some friends and it's really good to be playing with others (especially a drummer) rather than just sticking on backing tracks. The first session went better than I expected. Vibes were good and we were pretty locked-in for the first time playing together. It was also really good to play at full volume, using a cab and (what I feel was) the Ashdown Rootmaster Head which I thought sounded great. I did feel that within the song I wasn't able to change tone at all without any effects and had to pretty much stick to one sound per song (disregarding dynamics and pick etc.). So I was just wondering what people think are essential effects (and maybe specific examples) for this scenario. How can you affordably and easily bring a consistent and desired tone to each practice room and have the ability to change your sound a bit whilst mid-way through a song. I'm currently thinking of trying to find a pre-amp that has both drive and compression. Maybe something like the EHX Battalion. Just wanted to get some opinions and draw on the expertise of those better versed than myself in these things.
  18. There's a bass on ebay but it's collection only in Rotherham. Is there any possibilty of a BC relay possibly, to get it nearer to Kent thank you
  19. Firstly, very happy birthday 🎂, and I do like a pink bass, looks really cool
  20. I'll be "that guy" - what are you wanting to achieve by changing the bridge?
  21. I think it's a free choice, and it's none of my business what any of you choose. I don't really feel like sharing my personal opinion on this, because someone will likely come along to tell me how wrong I am, as is always the case in threads like this.
  22. Olivia Dean's new album "The Art of Loving" was released last September. She's the first British solo female artist to top the UK albums and singles charts simultaneously since 2021. https://basslessons.be/transcriptions.php?i=1115
  23. Thank you for your contribution 😁
