  2. Just wondering if there’s a specific frequency that will bring out the woody tone of a bass or is it predominantly from the instrument’s construction/pickup?
  3. strangely I actually have more guitars than basses, strange considering bass is my first instrument but I also suppose they are mostly P basses or derivatives (apart from the HW4403) I've got 4 Brian May guitars!
  4. You will be missed DP.
  5. My understanding is that the EA Wizzy 10 is all about the tone rather than the volume, and when I was selecting my go-to cab for DB nearly 15 years ago I decided that the Crazy 8 was by far the better package. Obviously things may have changed since then, but my Crazy 8 remains my go-to after all this time and maybe 400 gigs. The Crazy 88 does exactly what you'd expect ... Crazy 8 on steroids. Obviously it's not actually twice as loud, but equally obviously it does go WAY louder than the Crazy 8. For context, it can't possibly compete with my Barefaced 210 for sheer volume but I use the BF for maybe three or four gigs on DB each year (out of 60) so that's not particularly relevant. It's not as loud as my Trace 88, which I only use with electric bass, but the tone is far more attractive.
  6. It looks to me that it's not Mr Mason's channel and that the guy whose it is may very well be taking the comments down just so he doesn't have to take the video down rather than admit even he's been duped to giving the guy the oxygen of publicity. Is that too charitable a thought? As regards the court case. I'd bet 12 months suspended or something like that. See you in a few years and he'll still be doing the same dodgy stuff no doubt. The thing is, in many ways it's small enough amounts that most people wouldn't crack someone over the head for their cash or goods. Not always the case, but I feel the bloke will just continue to just walk between the raindrops.
  7. You're not alone - I'd absolutely KILL for one. I've always thought the Rhoads shape looks so much better than your bog standard Gibson Flying V-esque shapes. If you Google it you can find one-off custom shop Rhoads basses but a proper production run at a reasonable price would be absolutely killer. That and I'd like to actually play one first because I imagine the ergonomics of the body shape will be....uncertain and interesting 🤣
  8. Noooooooooooooo!
  9. @cybertectThese are fantastic photos!! Looks like you had a great spot too 👍

  13. It must be starting to work but I've a feeling there is more to this!
  14. Today
  15. Hey You - Thin Lizzy
  16. I really like the look of this and the reviews and comments I've read sound great.. I have an EA Wizzy 10 at the moment but its struggling to keep up with an 18 piece big band with a loud drummer even in a rehearsal situation.Just wondering what difference would I notice with the Crazy 88. I'm on DB with a Realist PUP and a TecAmp 500 via a Fishman Platinum Pre-amp. Cheers
  17. Nice comfy strap, helps with those weighty Basses you're thinking of selling becasuse they're too heavy. Well used, been sitting in storage for the last two thousand years. Adjustable length (at both ends) from approx 44in (112cm) to 57in (145cm) from hole to hole. Full working order, OK condition - there's some crud around the holes, nothing that counts as a biohazard and I'll throw it in for free. Thirty quid posted, knock a fiver off if you can collect from Bewdley DY12 I'm in Manchester and Bolton 27th - 28th September and could meet up there if that helps.
  18. I was really looking forward to heading up to Taunton again this year but my plans have been thwarted as Mrs OBBM has acquired tickets to see Chris McCausland at the Hall for Cornwall that afternoon. We don't many big names down here as it's a bit off the beaten track and, anyway, it would more than my life's worth to decline. I'll try and get there next year.
  19. Thank you.
  20. I will have to take you up on that invitation! A few snaps from the sidelines last night
  21. PDN Stingray Neptune blue.
