  2. If you fancy owing essentially the same bass as me: https://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/1979-82-fender-usa-international-series-precision-bass-in-sienna-sunburst-pre-owned-p8462 I actually played this bass when I was in Aberdeen a few months ago. Definitely replacement pickups but they sounded great. Neck was in better condition than mine. I nearly bought it, but I didn't because it would just be a back up to the bass I already have. I do really love the neck profile of the Precisions from this era.
  3. Lovely, and doesn’t look a whole lot different to my project. Uni Pre is a good shout, I do like the format and function if the J-Retro 👍
  4. Just Like Anything - Jackson C. Frank
  5. I couldn't agree more with this. I wonder how this "play bass A for this genre and bass B for that genre" started. @Lozz196 echoed this with saying you can play any music on any bass, something I've been saying since I picked the instrument up.
  6. You only need half of those If you got rid of everything fret wise above the octave and every part of a fret on the two treble strings, you could make it a hybrid fretted/fretless and do all the pointless noodling on the bits real bass players don’t use 👍 #joking

  8. Kind of, but they won't fit your EHB. Dingwall's are rounded and there's a sweet spot for anchoring. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/dingwall-fd3n/
  9. I know it's illogical but I can't get comfortable with the idea of hanging a bass by the neck!
  10. +1 From the proceeds from the sale invest in a Celestion 10 speaker, either the ceramic one used in the BC110 or a lightweight BN-300X (8 or 4 Ohm)
  11. I use this small Hercules one for my Jazz bass - works well and it's pretty small / neat. https://www.thomann.de/ie/hercules_stands_gs402b.htm
  12. What a pair yours wearing flats would make with mine wearing rounds….. Giving it serious thought 👍
  13. BE aware that if you just leave the pipe/port at the same length, you will get unexpected results. You may remember the old Bose Bug Eyed PA tops, where the ports extended outside the front baffle, it is my understanding that you do not change the tuning much. However, you will have more internal volume (in litres). @Phil Starr, @Bill Fitzmaurice and @stevie will probably correct me. (flak jacket and tin helmet donned)
  14. Sum-thing - Beatles (again)
  15. WOW, that is going to have some deep and meaningful Attitude 😮
  16. Actually forget that, I just saw the Mvave on amazon for £29 inc Prime delivery. Also noticed it can run off USB so I can leave it plugged in. Just ordered one. For me the best feature will be the Low cut. As much as the EBS does send great through headphones, I can't quite tame the low end as much as the Nux did with its IR on.
  17. Price drop now £115! Inspired by both new and old, the AfterLife has FOUR different internal analog circuits that provide 2 distortions and 2 fuzzes. Providing plenty of headroom and a ton of gain, these four selections will cover all the distorted ground you’ve got. While the outside boasts a lone Mode selection knob and a Volume control, there’s more under the hood to this one. Internal adjustable trimpots are available for all four modes, with parameters like overall Volume, Bias, Gain and Filter. The enclosure is 100% Solid Aircraft Aluminum Machined. The artwork on the front and back is laser-engraved, and each AfterLife pedal is 100% hand-wired and hand-built. Collect from Chesterfield or add £5 for UK postage. Cheers! Sam
  18. Here’s my TC Electronic RH450 in used condition. Everything works perfectly - this is a proper workhorse of an amplifier, and small/light enough to use as a backup when gigging. Collect from Chesterfield (5 mins from M1 J29) or I can post for an additional £15. Cheers! Sam

  20. As much as these make sense aesthetically and ergonomically, that would make them just about impossible to replace with anything else when the tone doesn't suit the user. Using regular soapbar pickups makes much more sense because the pickups are easily interchangeable - since many soapbar sizes are standardised and used by several manufacturers. That said, there are some manufacturers who give their soapbars a little notch for your thumb (Yamaha did this on some RBX models, and Ibanez on the SRX series pickups, and Delano does it on those weird oval pickups of theirs) and then there's Dingwall who give the ends of their soapbars a curve so there's always a small area pointing "up". None of these use standard sizes.
  21. Not heard they were hard to maintain Daryl. I think they have a dual truss rod system tho. Not even sure if the new ones still use a twin truss rod ? They do look good tho. My first real interest in Ric's was when i came across Rush in 76 and Geddy was using one. Then a lot of Prog bands used them too and i liked the tone but Geddy proved that he could make his Jazz sound just like a Ric and fooled us all. 😂 Dave
  22. Really liking that Openhagen one, Ped. Very stylish. I recently ordered a couple of the rather good Fender "Offset Bass" mini stands, which are perfect for Jazz Basses, as you can make the left side slightly higher. They're very stable and surprisingly compact. Not sexy like the Openhagen, though. Why they didn't think of this 60 years ago, I have no idea...
  23. Hi Terry. I have had some interest – maybe things are just slow these days. I'm surprised it's still here, to be honest!
  24. Hi. Here you go (from the Gator site)... Length 12.50" Width 19.00" Height 9.00" Cheers!
