  1. Past hour
  2. I did, but I didn't want to bother him, seems like he's a busy man.
  3. Concrete and Clay - Randy Edelman
  4. I may be sending two guitars back to the owner in the USA, inside a Mono dual bag.Insurance is a must as they are worth a few grand. I've looked at a couple of places online, the DHL site didnt promise an easy way and another site only insured £2000 maximum. Whether the owner gets hit with tax or not isn't a problem (for me) as he will have to give proof of ownership along the way. Any ideas, sites etc would be appreciated, especially if one of you has successfully shipped to the USA.
  5. I saw what you did there 😎
  6. Hi all, Does anyone know anywhere in the UK that has stock of Lakland gear, specifically either thr DJ5 or 55-02. I'm really struggling to find anyone who stocks anything Lakland. I've tried most of the usual suspects. Rare as rocking horse doo doo it seems over here now!! Gutted as I'm desperate for one and ready to buy 😞 Thanks all!!!
  7. The next thing to think about it colours. The white scratchplate was used in the early '80s on the International colours series. Below are the options I'm considering all with white pickguard and maple neck: Monaco yellow, Capri orange, Sahara taupe, Cherry burst. The others don't appeal so much - Cathay ebony and arctic white look too much like regular basses, albeit with white pickguards instead of black. Morocco red is nice but a bit too close to Dakota red to stand out. Maui blue is great but I have another Jazz in that colour, and Sienna burst just doesn't look as good as cherry burst.
  8. V. helpful A/B based on the spec sheets, although I guess the proof of the sound has got to be in the hearing? Not sure about the power ratings you've suggested though - the 912A's are stated to be: LOW FREQUENCIES: 1400 W Peak HIGH FREQUENCIES: 700 W Peak Which I reckon should translate to 700 + 350 = 1050W RMS per speaker, which is decent? How rugged is plywood typically vs toughened plastic?
  9. updated big board photo. MK2 octabvre and HX stomp back, and added the EWS stormy for another drive flavor.
  10. Is Bill on here? Gosh didn't know that.
  11. Next step was obviously a body and neck. I decided to go '70s for a couple of reasons - I always liked the late '70s 'S' series basses, which most other people seem to think are the very worst in terms of Fender QC, but I really like the aggressive tone. Hence, I decided to go ash and maple. This is very much a tribute to the era rather than something 100% accurate - so although I managed to get a northern ash body (from Guitar Build), it's a '60s version without the channel cut between the pickup cavity and the control cavity. It'll all be under the pickguard anyway so no problem there. I went with one piece maple for the neck. I pushed the boat out a bit and ordered from Musikraft in the US. Allparts and Warmoth don't do the correct 7.25 radius on their repro necks. It's currently in production, not sure when it will arrive. An era correct decal has also arrived.
  12. Final reduction to £1850. If it doesn’t go at this price, I’ll keep it in the closet.
  13. Further price deduction - now £799
  14. Success !
  15. Lovely basses, but stupidly heavy ...
  16. The round sound twang lasts just like rounds (ie not that long) but the flat thump lasts for years. I put d'Addario half rounds on my black Status necked bass for our 2016 trip to USA - they're still on it and the bass still sounds OK but has lost that new string twang.
  17. So, I've always wanted to do a P bass made to my own specifications, and recently after selling my Nate Mendel Precision, I found myself in possession of parts I'd modded it with (I brought it back to its original state before selling it). Basically, the bits below: Duncan Antiquity 2, Kluson bridge, pickup covers and white pickguard.
  18. Nice looking strap Dave.
  19. I've had an eye out for a Decade for ages and they don't come up too often. There's Skyline on FB now, but it's the active model. I think that's the first one I've seen in about 7-8 years
  20. I have a Hercules I got on special on Amazon ages ago. Seems very well made. https://herculesstands.com/international/products/fretted-and-bowed-instrument/accessories/ha206/
  21. I'm not playing 5 or 6-string bass much at all, so let's see if some others here are keen to play these basses that I have just lying around and then I can get something else with fewer string(s) with the money. This is a 2007 Warwick ChromeTone 5-string bass - Ebony board, bell-bronze frets, Ovangkol bolt-on neck and upgraded to brass Just-a-nut, Schaller turners and Schaller strap locks (original hardware has been kept, and will come wiht the bass... all perfectly functional, I just prefer the Schaller stuff). Bass is in great condition with no serious issues. Sounds really amazing, I just don't play 5-string at all these days. There are some scratches on the finish, and a couple of superficial dings, as you might expect for a nearly 20-year-old bass. I got this from BassConnection many years ago. Bass is at my place in Sheffield, and you're welcome to drop by and give it a play if you wish. I'm happy to post additional photos if there is interest.

  22. If its the same bass (bass direct can't have had too many amber trb5 mkI for sale in the last few years) it was anything but lightweight. I bought it and returned it because I couldn't stand the hiss from the preamp and it seemed like sacrilege to consider changing the electronics. A shame because it was a nice bass.
  23. I'm not playing 5 or 6-string bass much at all, so let's see if some others here are keen to play these basses that I have just lying around and then I can get something else with fewer string(s) with the money. This is a 2010s Warwick GPS Corvette 6-string - Bubinga with black hardware. Wenge board, Ovangkol neck. I upgraded this to all black hardware: Schaller turners, black Schaller strap locks and all black knobs, etc. (including heavier brass bridge, which is painted black) Bass is in lovely condition with only a couple of minor dings, no issues. Sounds lovely. I got this from Seb on Basschat many years ago. Bass is at my place in Sheffield, and you're welcome to drop by and give it a play if you wish. I'm happy to post additional photos if there is interest.
