Yes, just screw the knurled knob out until it comes off and then thread the thrust bearing on, then screw it back in.
-
Theres quite a lot about them (Asamovel) on Insta, Bill. They are completely obsessed by their wall of Marshalls and what drivers are in each of them. I completely take your point about the Magnatones. Not many making a noise but they certainly look pretty. I'd love a Magnatone. What.a. machine.
-
Simplest thing would be to abandon the Mustang and get a cheap multifx from Zoom or similar with an aux input and maybe headphones output.
-
Thrust bearings received today. Is it obvious when you unscrew everything how to fit them?
-
It’s gone from the window. Hopefully it’s gone to a good home.

Not this bass player, he didn't hang around for long!

Headstock seems a slightly unusual shape? Looks a bit thin to my eyes.

Uncle Balsamic started following Anyone make Ampeg B15 head clones in the UK?
-
Real B15s are thin on the ground over here and increasingly expensive by the looks. Does anyone know if there's anybody in the UK who does, or would, make an Ampeg B15 clone? (Just the head, not necessarily the cab as well) As far as options, I know about the following which come as kits and pre-built: The Trinity Trip Top, which looks nice but not sure how often they make them and shipping from Canada is probably fairly significant. There's also the Ceriatone Aunt Peg, which is close, but based on this post, isn't quite a true clone because of the transformer used. Correct me if I'm wrong about this! On the subject of kits, does anyone know someone who would build one for you? I don't have the training to mess with high voltages and I'm not daft enough to try For the purposes of this, pretend I absolutely do not want a pedal or a preamp etc., just a valve head that sounds like a B15. Doesn't need to be exact, e.g. look like an Ampeg, or have two channels, etc. Thanks in advance all!

Swapping necks around was a design feature from the start. Initially Fender didn't put truss rods in their guitars. If the neck bowed the idea was to replace it with a new one. I guess plan B (truss rods) came along pretty quickly. One school lunchtime in the mid 60's I was standing in Marshall's shop in Hanwell watching Vic Briggs of the Animals telling the guys, Chris & John, that he wanted the neck of one Strat on the body of another Strat and the electrics of a third Strat.

Only recently got this as I've wanted to try one for a while as a possibly workhorse for a function band. These are great basses but I don't think its the one for me at the moment. Really good quality and nice feel to it, and a good B string. Weighs in at around 4.3kgs. In great condition, only 1 mark on the body, the scratch plate and rear panel still have the cellophane on them. Could be interested in trades for 4 or 5 strings. Would prefer collection from Chelmsford, comes with a good Yamaha gig bag but I don't currently have packing material to ship. Any questions please ask!

Hi all, Here we have my Fernandes Gravity 5x. Bought last year as a back up to my Warwick, but now being sold as I'm trying to move away from 5s and am looking for a different sound. There's not a lot of info out there about these, as they seem to be quite uncommon. It dates from 2008 and is made in China. Twin single coil pickups with vol, vol, tone. Simple as it gets. Tonally it's got a quite aggressive sound, the twin Jazz pickups are really high output, with a really punchy sound. You'll note the front pickup is moved towards the bridge compared to the usual J/J set ups, definitely gives it a funkier, mid-rangey sound. The tone pot is effective all the way round, giving a wide sweep of different tones (and a really funky rear pickup sound). B-string was the biggest surprise for me on this bass. It's very taught and defined, better than many other basses I've had at 4/5x the price. It's in 9/10 condition. It recently had a brand new input jack installed and plays very cleanly across all frets. A nice first foray into a 5 string for someone, or a great reliable, good sounding backup. Weight is a lovely 3.9 kg. Collection from Moreton in Marsh, which is located on the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire/Warwickshire border. Will happily meet up within an hour's drive for handover, or a bit further for a small petrol contribution (purely due to the low cost of the bass). Thanks for looking!

Ian Davies started following RME Fireface UFX II Audio Interface
-
RME Fireface UFX II This interface has been a true rock and centre of my studio and is brilliant. The only reason for selling is because I’m seriously downsizing my music studio space and have no requirements for all the ins and outs. 30 Input / 30 Output channels 12 x Analog I/O 4 x Mic/Instrument Preamp, digitally controlled 1 x AES/EBU I/O 2 x ADAT I/O (or 1 x ADAT I/O plus 1 x SPDIF I/O optical) 1 x Word Clock I/O 2 x MIDI I/O 1 x USB 2.0 TotalMix FX https://rme-audio.de/fireface-ufx-ii.html Condition is used but very well looked after. Bedroom studio use only in a smoke and pet-free environment. £1,340 £5 p&p to mainland UK, other destinations please contact me.

I wish I had the length of time required to read The Gallery's extensive descriptions........ 🤔

Phil Starr started following help with working out how much wattage i need!
-
Hi Leo, a 4x10 is likely to be pretty efficient (loud) depending upon which model it is. Back in the day they packed lots of cheap but efficient speakers into big cabs to make lower powered amps loud enough to be heard over anything. You could almost certainly use a 100W amp and get away with it so the likes of the TE Elf, Warwick Gnome or tc BAM would probably be enough for rehearsal and are also cheap and fit in a pocket (OK a big pocket but they are tiny and fit in a bass case.) If not then go for one of the 300/500W amps, you really don't need the Minimega a Peavey MiniMax would do but just about every brand does an amp of this size. If you want something cheap then the Bugera Veyron works well.

Having bought a filter pedal off Paddy, he's now returned the favour 15 months later and bought one off me which I've no doubt he will be putting to far better use than I would ever manage to! Another quick, straightforward transaction and a pleasure to deal with.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this one? I’m not sure about either finish or P/G. I thought factory black would have come with a white/ mint guard and only sunburst or white would have tort… https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass-new-arrival/products/fender-p-63 too beaten up for my taste and the sticker residue/ mark would really annoy me.

I put an East MMSR 3 knob in one. Then used the switches to do pickup selection between Series/Parallel/ Single, Active/Passive and Neck/Both/Bridge. It was wired so that the inner coils were the ones activated when in "single" mode. I did this to make it not like a Jazz but it can be configured to mimic a Jazz if you wire it for the North coils. It's all very different from original but it gives a lot of tonal options. For someone who plays mainly PJs with everything on 10 it was overkill for gigging but endless fun noodling at home.

The return jack is a mono 1/4 inch. It won't work with a stereo input.
