Picked this up from Bass Bros end of last week, I did trade in the G&L Trib M-2000 and a few pedals towards it, but will be paying my dear old Dad back the rest. 1992 4001V63, in great condition for its age, I was a bit concerned about the small amount of tail lift but it doesn't cause any issues playing wise. Wanted a Rick for a long long time they have such a distinctive sound and look so cool! This one plays lovely, the neck is nice and slim. Only pic I have so far:

I got this MIJ Fender Jazz brand new in 1992, when I was 17. I played it exclusively for 3-4 years, and after that at least 50% of the time. After a few years I mostly played 8-string bass in a metal band, and it got used less and less. I pick it up sporadically these days, it's a good bass but I can't seem to get the sound I want out of it anymore. I've been thinking of selling it and getting another fretless.

Thanks Andy, They're ( as far as I can see) Fender labelled Schaller BMF so I would try and access the technical pdf online. I haven't managed to get a satisfactory link but they're accessible if you Google around. I'd rather direct you there than my sketchy hand held tape measure efforts. Cheers Martin

There's no tube in the original Digbeth models - the second channel has tube-style drive but is solid state. This isn't a criticism though - they sound really good!

Bought some GHS strings from Rich. Excellent all round and fast delivery.

I think most of us can relate to this at some time or another. Ultimately, if you've persevered and you're just not enjoying yourself it is a good sign to preserve your inner peace and call time on involvement in a project. Albeit, that does involve saying goodbye to work and money, which can also be tough. But some people really can make the decision easier for us to walk away. Best of luck with the next steps!

After a year of gigging it, I still hadn't fallen for the vintera II '50s p bass I'd gotten, so I traded it in and got this Player II - Absolutely delighted with it, ergonomically the neck just works better for me, and the pickups are superb. Put the obligatory leopard print strap on it and the rest of this year has been going great. Might even sell on something else and pick up another one in green 💚

why's that?

In that case, simplify. There's no shame in playing at your best (not theirs, or the original bassist's...). Most songs can be simplified, keeping much of the 'spirit' of it all. The audience will fill in any other auditory information from their own knowledge of the song, and if they don't know it well, what does it matter..? Don't flail yourself skinless over a piece that's above your pay-grade. Play it as best you can (and practice more in the years to come, obviously...). Your ears will develop faster if you use 'em more, too, so keep working stuff out the 'old school' way.

Price drop now £115! Inspired by both new and old, the AfterLife has FOUR different internal analog circuits that provide 2 distortions and 2 fuzzes. Providing plenty of headroom and a ton of gain, these four selections will cover all the distorted ground you’ve got. While the outside boasts a lone Mode selection knob and a Volume control, there’s more under the hood to this one. Internal adjustable trimpots are available for all four modes, with parameters like overall Volume, Bias, Gain and Filter. The enclosure is 100% Solid Aircraft Aluminum Machined. The artwork on the front and back is laser-engraved, and each AfterLife pedal is 100% hand-wired and hand-built. Collect from Chesterfield or add £5 for UK postage. Cheers! Sam
