  2. Nice set of specific goals there Dave! For your #1 - how many gigs have you guys done this year and what would be a decent challenge in terms of additional gigs for next year? Seems like getting a good agent is a recurring theme already! I've no ideas / suggestions where to look for decent agents outside of mainstream covers bands, which my lot fall into. But maybe there's a few folk who can come up with some useful suggestions? Is an agent someone you can advertise for and "audition" / interview in the same way you might a band member? Or is that a daft idea?
  3. I have one too, I really like it,
  4. Maybe have the driver out - baking soda overnight, then hoover out and put driver back ifcya think the smell has got in to any wadding.. Baking Soda in the box it was shipped in?
  5. Happy New Year All, I have a bb425 and a 735 but I’ve just noticed it would appear that on the 735 unlike the 425 there is no way to adjust any backlash on the tuners. This does seem a bit odd being the extra cost of the 700 series. There’s only a couple of tuners that would require adjusting and I can live with them but it does seem a bit odd the cheaper models have the adjustment. The 735a is secondhand so no good me complaining to Yamaha. Apart from that niggle the bass plays very well with a lot of potential re the tones available. The 425 though also has its own signature tones certainly different to the 735. Finally why is it that on the UK or USA Yamaha site you can’t download a 734/735 user manual. The manuals on both sites appear to be all ceramic pickup models. Any road up. Have a good and healthy New Year, and next year I will learn to read the dots proper.

    Ah, OK. Well then ... Klipsch 'The Fives' ... ... or ... M-Audio Forty-Eighty ...
  7. #1 More gigs for the Glam band. #2 Look at getting an Agent, tried them before but they've mostly been poor at their job and no great help. We got more gigs on our own. #3 Possibly look for another 2nd band to fill in the gaps. #4 Sell of some of my basses that aren't getting used. I have 3 in mind so far. Fender active PJ Mex, Godin Shifter, Overwater J4 (built by the team at Overwater and not a Tanglewood version) #5 Have a look at the Maruszczyk Jazzuz basses and have a try with the WAL style pick ups and pre-amp preferably. Dave
  8. Not sure where actually sells these basses. Hopefully available in the UK. They also do a stingray 5 option.
  9. https://amzn.eu/d/apUDY1U Maybe this one may work! If not it was a Dickies no scratch mechanics belt.
  10. This is an amazing bass, I love Sterlings and the 5 is very special. This one looks a peach. A great price too. I'd jump at the chance if had the funds and didn't already have one. Anyone tempted should snap this up. GLWTS.
  11. Oh no I've done a few photo shoots.
  12. New Bass Joe Dart good condition.
  13. Me & my partner/bandmate are currently 3 songs into a concept album, LastDay, ideas for which have been kicking about for years. Obviously the plan is to generate a few more ideas, & knock them & the remaining years-old ones into another 6 or 7 songs, in a sort-of organised & flowing-into-each-other sequence, sometime before the heat-death of the universe and hopefully by this time next year. It feels like a vain hope but I'd like this to actually be properly mixed & finished, and released out into the world in some tangile form, rather than languishing on my hard drive with 'sod it, that'll do' mixes, and a couple of YouTube uploads with 25 views between them. Not sure how to achieve that, but that part still feels reassuringly distant. Prior to that, progress will be accelerated by good weather - as my co-conspirator has been absolutely snowed-under by work for the last year or so, generating lyrics has fallen to me, at least for 2 of the 3 new songs, and I find I often come back from long, aimless, moderate intensity bike rides with fully-formed, functional lyrics that we both actually like! Who knew? But not in the howling wind, biting cold & pissing rain... Otherwise I'd like to finally find the motivation to offload a bunch of guitars & basses that are gathering dust, finish an unspecified number of seemingly abandoned projects, and maybe, just maybe -get in the practice room with an old ex-bandmate who's back from living abroad for a number of years. Jazz Odyssey is inevitable, but finding out if we still get on as musicians could be fun!

  15. I tend to send a lot of small parcels containing cables that I have made to fellow BCers. I have sent with both Royal Mail and Evri in the past but even though they cost more for many parcels, Evri were .....unreliable. Royal Mail are generally fine, often delivering second class next day, When I see DHL or DPD on the postage/shipping from anywhere, my heart sinks.

Thanks. I am looking for active boxes. My 1982 B&W DM110i + Mission Cyrus 1 amp have been doing sterling service, but it is time for an upgrade.
  17. The 4.4mm plugs are called bantam plugs and are used in professional audio applications, for example, high density patch fields. I have only heard of them being used for headphones, using high impedance headphones. You can plug the 'phones directly into the jack field to check for a signal.
  18. Thanks guys, I may give it a go to open it to a wider audience. 😏
  19. Edited to correct typo HTH
  20. Is that the bit where you practice takeoff? Or the bit where you compete with siblings for a worm? 😛
  21. I'd heard of this method, but how to effectively apply it in the case of a cab?
  22. Like new (purchased late October, used c. 5/6 times) with bag and box. Happy to take a video and recording of the pedal in action if anyone is interested. Price includes delivery. Selling because while it sounds incredible, I've ended up playing less than expected.
