  2. Reading through this I have gained the impression that you won’t get full power out of most power amps using pedal preamps, because their (preamps’) output is insufficient. However, there are some power amps on the market specifically aimed at pedals, modellers and preamps for guitarists/bassists. Examples being the GRBass Pure, Seymour Duncan Power Stage series, Harley Benton GPA-100, Fryette Power Station, etc. Are these not designed to match the output levels of typical pedal preamps? If not, their marketing promises are very misleading. Personal experience of using the (cheap as chips) Harley Benton GPA-100, is that I seem to be getting the full oomph out of it driven by my Bass Flyrig II into an LFSys Monza. The Monza does seem to have great sensitivity, which may explain some of the apparent volume I get from it. It works fine as a combo for rehearsals and coffee shop/bistro type gigs (our drummer uses an electronic kit, so can be turned down). This positive experience had encouraged me to consider a more powerful (and expensive) preamp like the Palmer Macht 402, or even the GRBass Pure. Reading this thread has made me question whether I might be very disappointed with the resulting output. Any thoughts?
  3. For me G&L has always been the workhorse of all these three brands because of the versatility. Especially models L-2000 and 2500 (and Wide-5): modern electronics and 2 pickups. When Nirvana started to use those cheapo and old student instruments, a friend of mine went to US. He came back with a neat G&L and said that Fender prices were sky high while his instrument had a very attractive price tag. George & Leo would be my choice of all his three companies. Well, an old Sabre could be close.

  5. Bring your rubber car mats in to chuck over cables?
  6. One of the best tracking octavers I've tried. Usual OCT1/OCT2 plus blend. Great condition.
  7. Independently footswitchable clean boost + VLE (low pass filter) and VPF (a bit like a 'contour' control, scooping mids while boosting low/highs). Standard TS output plus balanced DI output (XLR). Original MarkBass power supply included (but it works fine on standard 9V supplies - I used it for years with a T-Rex Junior supply, you just get a bit more headroom if powwered at 12V) Bypass can be buffered or true-bypass (switch at the bottom).

  8. Classic bass synth pedal. It's seen a lot of action and it has a few marks and scratches, but it's only cosmetic.
  9. I confirm the box/papers exist and will be included
  10. Sounds nice, F hole from the title? Action, check the truss rod first, Then check under the bridge blade, often a shim above or below the transducer piezo element. Easy do, Budget Adagio Flats? Bit of Blah Blah, nut, bridge etc. on my Harley Benton - might help?
  11. I was thinking of this with regard to a temporary lecture theatre situation I have to set up soon. As it's for work not play, I've ordered ten feet of cable guard, but I can bring it along. If anyone wants to buy some, this seems to be a good deal 10 feet (3m) for £16.99. Beware lots of what look like good solutions are self-adhesive for semi-permanent uses, and I'm fairly sure folk will want versions with a grip underneath for temporary use. I may get commission if you use this link, but it won't cost you extra: https://amzn.to/426GFTI
  12. I know this is not the wanted section but being left-handed is a bit niche so... I've started up an 80s band, but this time it's going to last! So, I'm on the lookout for an 80s style bass: Status, Washburn Status, Aria SB, Ibanez Musician or something similar... If anyone has anything they are considering selling, or knows of something up for sale somewhere please let me know!
  13. I wonder if Mr. Trump’s tariffs have played a part which presumably are applied to the Tribute series basses which I guess probably sell better than there more expensive US made counterparts. G&L was never a brand that had the same “Leo” magic as Fender & Musicman.
  14. I couldn't imagine what that sounded like, so I had a word with the fellow over at ChatGPT. The below, was his response. Question = What would Kermit the Frog gargling with porridge sound like? ChatGPT said: "If you imagine it, it’d probably be a mix of: Kermit’s distinct voice: that high, slightly nasal, throaty tone. The wet, bubbly gargle sound: like sloshing oatmeal mush in the back of the throat. A muffled “hrrmm-hrrmm-hrrrmph” quality: because porridge is thick, it would make the sound less liquidy and more gloppy. So it might come out like: 👉 “Grrhh–glllhrrmm–muhhrrggghhh–blrrp!” with little oaty splats at the end. Do you want me to try to write out a full onomatopoeic “Kermit gargling porridge performance,” as if it were in a script? Also, would you like me to make a quick audio impression of this as well (using onomatopoeia and frog-like tone), or do you prefer it just as a written script?

    About time.

Yeah I knew you were a Stranglers fan. I’m really looking forward to recording it on the new record. It should be a great partner to the Thunderbird, which is already sounding ace on the first couple of songs. Also it’s going to be fantastic live.
  16. Gotoh 201B-4 Chrome Bass Bridge with Brass Saddles with 19mm string spacing. The best and coolest high mass bridge upgrade option, brand new and never taken out its box. I bought this for a bass that I ended up selling before I had the chance to get it fitted. £36 including postage in the UK only. Here's my feedback thread to prove I ain't a wrongun':
  17. For sale are a set of Fender PJ pickups with mounting screws in very good condition taken from my Japanese Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass. We have a Fender Standard Split Single Coil Precision Bass set along with a Fender Standard Single Coil Jazz Bass Bridge Pickup. These are good sounding, quality pickups, I only changed them because I have a clear idea of what sound I want for this configuration based on having used DiMarzio Model Ps in the past. The set is going for £75 including postage in the UK only. Here's my feedback thread:
  18. It’s a great bass had since they first came out , but I bought an Atelier z 4 string and it has become the only bass I’m paying now . Thanks for the comments guys
  19. Search 'sound analyzer app'. I can't recommend one as I don't have iPhone.
  20. Hooray! They look like Spectors!
  21. You guys are lucky I sound like Kermit gargling with porridge.
  22. Hi! Up for sale YAMAHA TRB6 II PRICE 1500€ Comes with HARLEY BENTON case. Located un Riga (Latvia) Shipping around EU (at the buyer's expense) IMG_9738.mov
  23. There's some shocking stuff in there. I had no idea how bad it was.
  24. My next door neighbour just bought one of these from a charity shop. They are not on the Aria website anymore and the only one I can find on the web is one from a Reverb listing 11 years ago in the USA where it sold for £223.84 equivalent. My neighbour bought it on a whim, doesn't really play but is now retired and thinking about doing something with his time. The action is a bit high and it probably needs the bridge adjusting by a luthier so as to not ruin the pickup - it has a Fishman 3 band with a semi para mid range control. If anyone knows anything about these, please let me know.
  25. Are these a no, then??
