Precisions for me were the first thing that floated my boat, and always will. Had a few, starting with a ( bit of a dog ) late 70’s job, which amazingly didn’t put me off buying another , an early Squier 57 which I wish I still had. Wonderful, vibrant and fairly light - the polar opposite of the first one. Soon after I acquired my 63 Precision which I’ve now owned for around 40 years, and I still love it. Whilst in a function band I got into Stingrays which always seemed a logical route to follow after a P-bass. Had a late 70’s one ( sooo heavy), then a couple of nice 80’s / 90’s ones along with a couple of USA Subs, one of which may have been my favourite. A shoulder injury meant looking for something less heavy, so I tried a P- Lyte which I bonded with immediately. Had maybe 5 of these over the years, and have kept my ( slightly road worn ) sunburst mid 90’s one which I use for most gigs these days. Although not really Precision like, I still prefer the simplicity of a standard P-bass really - had mine concerted to passive. I’ve had a Jazz and just didn’t get on with the controls, pickups or body shape TBH! As I’ve got older I’ve got into short scales too. Started off with a Dano Longhorn which is ace, and currently have a Sire U5, a Squier Jaguar and a Fender Kingman, all around 30 inch scale.

‘Dents’ in unpainted or varnished wood can sometimes be cured with a small square of a damp cloth left in place over damaged areas for a short time, enough for the dampness to sort of leech into the area and just enough to cover over the damage. This can help swell the wood back into shape but, it looks like your damage could be too severe, possibly actual wood pieces have been knocked out….

OP: "I love everything about this bass, it's awesome!" Ten seconds later: "What can I do by throwing ridiculous amounts of money at it to make it betterer?" Eyes down for a full house.

Can't remember who it was, some famous-ish bass player, but he had no mobility in his middle finger due to a similar injury, and he picked using his index and ring fingers. He reckoned that it was more consistent because your index and ring fingers are closer to being the same length. Maybe something that's worth a try? There's also Dann Glenn, who plays with his thumb and one finger in an alternate-picking manner due to an injury that caused the other fingers on his right hand to curl up towards his palm. Interesting technique, it's worth looking him up on YT.

Me between 1998-2008 was glorious. In all honesty i much prefer my life now, but some of the stuff i did. That was one of the less fun episodes.

Using two ( or more ) SVT8x10 cabs in any configuration when doing a TV session or anything other than maybe a festival stage. I mean, how deaf do you have to be? 🤨 -

Hello all, I bought this unit a few weeks ago and am loving it, I am quite new to the world of effects for bass but I'm finding it easy to use and most importantly there are lots of great effects that work in a band setting. So far so good. My question to you all concerns the output level, it's REALLY LOUD. The output knob needs to be set to about 8o/c (if 7o/c is off) to be similar to the volume level if I A/B with the bass directly into the amp and then via the ME-90B; a bit louder is fine of course but this is something else entirely. My set up is Passive Jazz into an Ashdown ABM 500. and a BF 4x10. I've tried using the inbuilt sounds to eliminate anything I've programmed in that might be adding so much volume, but the difference in volume is not much between P and U banks. It's switched to AMP but the Line volume isn't hugely different, I've tried setting the amp to active input which drops volume a bit but again not much. I did try putting the unit in the amp's effects loop, a bit more controllable but again not a lot in it. Have I missed something obvious? Is this how it is supposed to be? Many thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer, Darren.

Headset mic so it’s always in the right place -
Pretty much everything *but* Fender! 😄

Great work!! Don't bother being overcharged on a simple decal by the likes of Rothko and Frost - they wanted £57 for my 'complex design' which was simply a take on the Stingray logo 🙄 and since completing my BlazerRay build I've always recommended folk on here to use Rob at https://www.guitardecals.co.uk/ Two (in case you mess up!) top quality ultrathin waterslide transfers to finish your headstock 👍🏼

Welcome, at 50 or so you’re a junior around here. Isn’t Glossop “league of gentlemen” territory ?

Oh, it's got to be a black guard on a Sunburst Jazz. Just like my Olympic Jazz must keep its tort guard !

Bound 'n Blocks and No Tort... Result!

Yeah that's what I'm also considering but playing a set of Green Day covers on a bar stool... Meh.

That's the most "rock 'n roll" so far - certainly compared to sneaking out a toilet window!
