Mykesbass started following Rush - Blu Ray disc rot.
-
When something similar happened to one of the big CD manufacturers (PDO - Phillips Dupont Optical) they honoured every one that got sent back for many years. If this is a known problem perhaps the Blu-ray manufacturer will do the same.

zbd1960 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
My current rehearsals are Tuesday evening (choir), Wednesday afternoon (community choir), Thursday afternoon (tenor sax, jazz group), Friday evening (training brass band, euphonium). -
Maruszczyk Mr. Tee - Short Scale Bass (30"). Picked up in a trade from @andybassdoyle in 2025 (super bloke!) - it's a fantastic bass but I'm not finding myself reach for it when I'm off to gigs and it's a shame to have it sitting in it's (included Hiscox hard) case. 5 string, currently setup E - C. A superb, light weight bass. Looks stunning and plays amazingly. Piezo bridge + magnetic pickup with Richter electronics in. Controls are: 1) Volume/pan between piezo and mag pickups 2) Bass/treble with push/pull on the treble for passive bypass. 3) Mid/mid frequency Originally fretless, professionally fretted by a previous owner. This video shows the bass when it was new: Full spec as per the original build is: Scale Length Short Scale 30" Number of Frets 20 Frets Body Construction Hollowbody Body Wood Alder Top Wood Eye Poplar Veneer Walnut Color Type Natural Body Binding Without Binding Body Finish Gloss Pickguard 3ply Cream Neck Wood Flamed Maple Neck Finish Matte Neck Profile Modern C Nut Width 40mm Carbon Rods No Fingerboard Wood Macassar Ebony Fingerboard Radius 14'' Headstock Type Matching Headstock (Natural) Headstock Finish Gloss Headstock Logo Silver Nut Black Pickup Combination Single Coil (SSC) Manufacturer Bassculture Pickup Finish Pickguard Color Neck Pickup Bassculture SSC 'Cream' Hardware Color Chrome Knobs Type Dome-Style Tuner Type Standard Y-Style Security Locks Without Security Locks String Type Flatwound ------ Available to view / test / collect from Exmouth, Devon. The soundpost will often sit within a small foam ring on the back of the bass, to stop it from falling.
-
I’m taking an educated guess that you mean Fahrenheit which most people here wouldn’t ‘get’. So that’s MINUS 20! I was in -23c in NYC once, with windchill, and I was able to break off bits of the moustache I had at the time 😂.

For me its all i could want, or at least need. No expression pedal makes it smaller, which is what i always look for and has put me off so many other boxes. Im using a GP-50 at the moment and other than always on Ampeg NAMM or sim, both quite restricted in tone options (although good enough) i only use a bit of Comp and Chorus. I dont need to make silly noises liek synth or filter stuff, and have no need for any real time control. What i miss is using my BDDI, but im limiting myself to only use one box these days, as this works. There have been a few Ampeg style boxes ive wanted, but without the chorus and comp, so not ideal.

It's a 14 year old thread but here's where it started: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/darkglass-pedals-are-going-to-be-made-in-the-usa-now.892646/ The relationship didn't pan out - don't know the specifics - but these Built in the USA units are Spencers redesigns. Anyway - great pedal (mine is still on my board). GLWTS!

Well he did win 😂

I like the look of this: https://dingwallguitars.com/bass/jacob-umansky-signature/
-
It's when the E and A half of a split pickup is closer to the bridge than the D and G half. Regular way is the other way round.
-
For Info, the Mk1 Barts often fitted in Ibanez and Cort are Reverse P in a Soap Bar... not my pickup Which might explain why they often score less favourable when compared to a Bart Full Humbucker Soapbar.

Did Salvador Dali play bass?

For anyone who doesn't know, could someone explain what a reverse P configuration is?

Does Your Covers Band Change Songs? What Changes and Why?
Nail Soup replied to Sean's topic in General Discussion
In my now defunct punk & new wave covers band we generally played it as per the record, with the exceptions: Instrument not available - example we replaced a harmonica break with a guitar solo. DI not attempt to mimic the harmonica break. Fade-outs - made up our own ending, or copied from a live version by the original band. An improvised-sounding solo or breakdown... make up our own. Gives rare opportunity for creative freedom! But never changed anything because we think we could just improve on the original. -

All this better tonal balance across the stringz, but maybe in the design time the halves were that way to reduce the bass boom of the E and Increase the treble bell of the G for a wider range of tones across the strings. Amps and Cabs in those days etc.
