  1. Past hour
  2. Thank you, i think there is many people who like the red colour
  3. I'm just breaking a set of DR Dragon Skins, I made a terrible mistake and got stainless steel instead of nickel.... oops. When I move up and down the freatboard there's a noise like someone making baloon animals. Odd. Very odd things. Gonna take a bit of getting used to...
  4. Two excellent YT clip reviews
  5. I have one of these in this colour and I can vouch for how insanely nice these things are! They actually feel like a well-played vintage instrument. Fender knocked it out of the park with these basses.
  6. Mind you, if it turns out to be illegit then it'll be a right bastard ...
  7. Looks legit. I remember these. Fender we’re getting slated at the cost of the USA standard so they brought out a cheaper us model with a gloss finish. No hard case, some cost saving measures but a made in USA tag! If it was an affinity body it wouldn’t have the truss rod access at the body end. Enjoy your bass.
  8. isn't it everyone's favourite compressor? best compressor on this earth, second best pedal second only to SANSAMP
  9. Today
  10. This rig is for sale near to me... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/778666638472040/ Ticks a lot of boxes, but it is a larger fan-cooled amp. Definitely has 'presence' in the room though.
  11. Indeed it is! Pm me if interested
  12. I played a lot in the 70s and 80s (yes I'm that old), started playing again a couple of years ago. I played upright bass back in the day and still have two of them, but find it physically too demanding now. Currently playing a Joe Doe 'Lutetia' blackburst and a Kala U-bass (the latter being very handy for my ageing hands!) and I have a Blackstar U60 amp. I genuinely love all kinds of music and you might find me listening to Killing Joke for hours, or some Chopin nocturnes, or the Isley Brothers and Be-bop Deluxe, or Tony Rice, or Charlie Parker... you get the idea. Bass heros include Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Ron Carter, Eberhard Weber, Brady Watt, to name a few. I mostly play for my own amusement and sometimes mess around with Garageband or Fender Studio. Err... that's it.
  13. Work well, sound good but ultimately replaced with a set of Seymour Duncan QPs. price of £15 includes delivery and screws

  14. Hi folks, for sale is my awesome Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius from 2024. I have to thin out the herd and that‘s why I want to sell some basses. After years of buying, selling and trading it‘s time to "settle down" with just a 2 or 3 basses. This bass is in very good condition, purrs like a kitten and can sing like a bird! Wasn't played that much. Some tiny signs of wear on the fretboard. Electronics and truss-rod work with no issues. Comes with the original case and all the candies. Pick up is preferred, but maybe I can shipping to buyer's expense and risks. Maybe we can meet in person somewhere on half distance. If you need more pictures let me know. No warranty, no return and no guarantee because I am a private seller. But all informations is provided to the best of my knowledge and belief. I am open to trades, but there are only a few basses that I am interested in. Maybe Adamovic 6 String, Mattison; Ken Smith BSR 6 String, but you can try to lead my into temptation. (In case of trading we have to meet in person, no shipping!) Price is 4100 Euro.

  15. I'm not saying I think it's fake. I'm pretty certain it's the real deal. Just like some other like minded opinions.
  16. I bought a double bass from Richard a couple of months ago. Really well described and pictured and it was brilliant to meet him and discuss all things life and bass. Really generous with his time and he even brought the double bass into London for me to come and collect! Thanks Richard!
  17. Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
  18. I bought a Tokai from Nik yesterday. The bass is brilliant and perfectly as described. Unfortunately I had to dash off otherwise there’s a high likelihood we’d still be talking about all things bass. Really nice guy and can’t recommend enough. Thanks Nik!
  19. Yeh, PMT used to be quite good for bass stuff until they moved, only went in a few times after they moved and they weren't as good. But there were others down your way, such as dawsons, in exeter, but they didn't have that much.
  20. I think this is a good encapsulation of where pre-amps are currently at.
  21. Thanks Nick - so I think a price drop may be in order to rip off the band aid a bit quicker!
  22. yes, it's still available.
  23. Doesn't surprise to hear you say that. Not when you see so many big names that have disappeared since Covid. The last time I journeyed up to Bristol (last May) was to pay a visit to PMT for the sole purpose of viewing a Schector fretless they were advertising. I checked with the store before travelling, explained where I was journeying from and gave them my phone number. When I turned up (the following day). I was told the bass hadn't been in store for a month. Another wasted trip 😥 Can't say I was too sorry to learn PMT had gone under. But as @neepheid said it's tough going when it comes to needing gear and living in the sticks !🙄
