  2. I can't watch anything with Scott Devine. The jazz noodling just gets irritating after a while and when someone else is playing its like he's got jazz bass tourettes with random outbursts of "pocket", "tasty" or "ooh yeah". His American clone is much better though.

  4. Bad idea to make assumptions but... as there are a pair of XLR sockets in situ I'd be looking to unplug that one and plug my own L/R XLR>XLR outs from the desk. However as assumptions ca make and a55 of you I'd be prepared to take that lead from an Aux out.
  5. Ok, so just rigged mine up - unfortunately I'm getting the same issue as you describe! The middle switch position is noisy and the top position is worse. I'm using an isolated Strymon PSU. Out of curiosity I A/B'd it with a Boss CEB-3, Tech21 Bass Boost Chorus and an EHX Bass Clone. The Boss and the Tech21 were all but silent. The EHX was noisy (top end hiss) as soon as I engaged the effect. The Providence was nice a quiet in the bottom switch position and progressively noisier (hiss as the LFO sweeps) as you went up between the three positions. I can only assume the Tech 21 and Boss have some filtering going on before the output? I also added a TU-3 in before the Anadime to see if it needed buffering to stop the hiss - it made no difference. I must have noticed this before and just settled on using the bottom switch setting? It's a shame as out of the four pedals the Providence has by far the best sounding chorus to my ears.
  6. I've been playing in reggae bands for most of my music life, both on bass and guitar. For 2026,. I don't mind doing deps in that genre but not joining another band in that genre or ska for that matter. I looking to see if i can move into a band that is more jazz based or a band where there is more adventures to seek on the bass. I also want to be able to grasp theory in a practical way that I can consciously and intentionally apply on the fly (improvising), or to develop a solid bassline for a song or piece of music. Re-start double bass lessons and ideally play similar percentage of my gigs on bass guitar and DB (eub).

  8. Two guys who’ve done nothing in music not talking about much music while holding basses. And Danny Sapko has a truly terrible feel. Scott can play, obvs, but it’s typically the same show-offy modal licks you get taught in the latter part of a jazz course.

  16. Three hours of rehearsal yesterday to work up an acoustic set for tonight and finish writing the latest album. The acoustic stuff always sounds good, although yesterday sounded slightly under rehearsed (a good sign ahead of a show). I dug out my P-bass and we officially finished writing our third album. On a personal note, I was particularly pleased with my vocal last night as it has always been my most challenging area and I have really worked hard on building my confidence and voice.

  20. For sale is a 1974 Fender Musicmaster Bass, a classic short-scale Fender with unmistakable 1970s character. Lightweight, comfortable, and full of vintage charm, this is a great example of a 50-year-old Fender that remains very usable and musical today. The bass has a clean, straightforward feel and delivers the warm, direct tone these Musicmasters are known for, especially well suited to roots, indie, recording, and vintage-inspired styles. Condition This is a vintage instrument and shows honest cosmetic wear consistent with age, including knocks and marks to the body, but nothing unsightly or structural. The bass plays and sounds great throughout the neck, with heavier fret wear in the upper register (around frets 16–18), which may limit clean articulation high up the neck for some players. This is typical of vintage instruments that have seen decades of use and primarily affects the highest frets, which are less commonly used on a short-scale bass. New frets likely would address it – but I personally didn’t feel the need to. The neck is straight, the truss rod works as it should, and the frets still have usable life remaining. Originality Body appears to have been refinished in black at some point in the distant past; however, the job seems to have been done in nitro and the finish already aged well. Pickguard is believed to be a later replacement. Brass nut fitted. All other parts appear to be original. Setup Currently fitted with Fender classical nylon black strings (28–43). Properly set up and comfortable to play.   22. Thanks. There is a lot of glue in the channel, but I don't know if it's actually gluing anything to anything – I can't imagine titebond does much for carbon fibre. The rod is primarily held in place by being smushed between the neck and the fingerboard.

I didn't see this thread either until now 😎 Before January 1st I would've said the band should get the new songs recorded ASAP and released (as a 4 track EP) plus get started on the next bunch of tunes. Also try to get more gigs outside Salisbury, we played 2 gigs where we couldn't see the spire last year and both went down better than some of our Salisbury gigs. Now after last week our new year's resolution is - find a new guitarist 🙄 One of the band's founding members left. The band first got together around 40 years ago (I joined 2022) so it was a lil' bit of a shock. I think it'll be a good thing once the dust settles but it just knocks you back a bit.
