  1. Past hour
  2. Nice! A fantastic bass for a great price!
  3. Sold mine last year, if only it had the neck profile of the status, for me the nut was too narrow (38mm from memory) I read that Ned asked Stanley Clarke for advice on the neck to which he advised a narrow nut and deep front to back, neither to my tastes🤷‍♂️
  4. There’s never a good time to admit that!!
  5. Iron Lion Zion - Bob Marley
  6. Three and a half years break from playing it for me (other than the odd noodle at home). It really has made me appreciate it more. Spurred on by my use of the fretless at the last rehearsal and gig, I carried out a comparison experiment that you can’t achieve under normal gig/rehearsal conditions, just to check if it wasn’t just the different feel and tone of the instrument that was making me feel so good about it (emperor’s new clothes and all that). I copied an old live recording I had from about 10 years ago into GarageBand, sucked out all the bass frequencies and recorded 4 new bass lines, using different basses, both clean and driven. I was surprised by the results. Not only did the fretless sound better in the mix than the fretted bass, both clean and driven, but the driven, fretless tone was the out and out winner.
  7. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.
  8. Great aren’t they! 🙌
  9. These were used just once but didn’t suit the bass that they went into, so they are ‘as new’. Delano hum free split coil JMVC 5 FE/M2 ultra-fast transient 5-string bass pickup features state-of-the-art transducer technology combined with avant-garde cosmetics. Strong bass, warm low mid’s, clean mid response with lightning-fast attack and brilliant treble that stays right there from your most subtle into your heaviest playing even if your 5-string bass is drop tuned to sub zero. Five massive 9.5mm poles capture every slight movement of your strings. These are Fender American Standard size: · Neck 101.5mm long x 18.6mm wide · Bridge 104.6mm long x 18.6mm wide A brand new set of these will set you back £200 from Bass Direct, I’m asking just £140 delivered mainland UK.
  10. These pickups were used just once but didn’t suit the bass that they went into, so they are ‘as new’. A new set of these will set you back £150 from Bass Direct, I’m asking just £100 delivered free in mainland UK. Classic J-Bass pickups give you enhanced treble response and narrower apertures for incisive attack and focused sound without harshness. This added treble definition vastly increases the tonal range available in active or passive instruments. When you dig in, they are responsive and growly. When you pull back, they are clear and sweet. And they’ll take any slapping and popping you want to give them. The Classic Bass series is popular with progressive, jazz, gospel, and metal musicians where articulation is critical. They are sweat-proof and won’t crackle and thud when you touch them or hit them with the strings. If you play a wide variety of music, you know you need some pro-level pickups, but you don’t want to do a big upgrade project, Classic Bass pickups are a great choice. They are passive and will work with your current electronics in most basses. These dual inline-coil pickups are hum-cancelling even soloing the neck or bridge pickup, so they are well suited for studio or stage. These are Fender American Standard size
  11. I am going to go nylon bearings to line the holes. Thanks for the heads up about the retro vibe tuners
  12. That's a little booger! Cool that it's nicely proportioned though. Get those fret sprouts filed though... Not cool to bleed all over the carpet! 😁
  13. The price of those adapters was already something of a joke. I use strips of veneer to reduce the hole size, same as @neepheid and Gerry Hayes. These are worth considering as a Hipshot alternative:

  15. There had better not be a volute involved as well Spondz.
  16. Alright! Lets keep in touch, might even have some stuff to trade for you if you want.
  17. As new, only used once and in the original box as you can see from the pictures. Don’t know why but I preferred my Sadowsky pre-amp. As you would expect, this unit is in immaculate condition as it was only in the bass for a few weeks. All in the original box. Technical info: The J-Core preamp takes our widely acclaimed Flexcore Onboard Bass Preamp to the next level - now in a hassle-free Jazz Bass plate drop-in design. No modifications, no soldering, just pure performance. Powered by the incredibly flexible and supremely musical Mike Pope-designed preamp with a 4-band EQ, the J-Core puts tonal control at your fingertips. With internally selectable EQ points for each band and refined signal path enhancements, it’s designed to bring out the best in every note you play. All this, plus a 9-volt battery, fits neatly into your existing Jazz Bass control cavity. Effortless design meets exceptional sound. We’ve swapped out traditional jumper-style selectors inside the J-Core for intuitive rocker-style mini switches. These make it easier than ever to fine-tune the frequency centres of each of the 4 EQ bands, allowing you to customize the EQ to match your bass’s unique voice and your personal tonal preferences. With selectable frequencies at 46Hz or 90Hz, 330Hz or 473Hz, 600Hz or 900kHz, and 6kHz or 10kHz, the J-Core offers precise control to shape your sound exactly how you like it. Additional switches allow for 0, 3, 6, or 8 dB of output gain. A hallmark of a truly versatile Jazz Bass is its passive tone control. Some players prefer a subtle tone roll-off that preserve’s midrange presence, while others lean toward a darker, more classic passive tone. The J-Core comes stock with a .022 Cap and can be easily customized with an additional through-hole parallel capacitor. For years, the Flexcore has set the benchmark for players seeking unparalleled fidelity, clarity, and warmth from their active instruments. Until now, however, it wasn’t available as a drop-in replacement for Jazz Basses. With the J-Core, you can finally bring the renowned flexibility and performance of the Flexcore into the Fender universe— elevating your sound without changing what you love about your instrument. FREQUENCY SPECIFICATIONS Treble: +/- 15dB at 6kHz or 10kHz Hi Mid: +/- 15dB at 600Hz or 900Hz Lo Mid: +/- 12dB at 330Hz or 473Hz Bass: +/- 12dB at 46Hz or 90Hz This Trickfish J-Core is the 4-band active preamp version with SIDE mounted jack. Currently for sale in Bass Direct for £285 but you can buy this one for just £200 delivered in mainland UK.
  18. Is this a good time to admit I've never seen 'This Is Spinal Tap'? 😬
  19. Fits a 2EQ or 3EQ Stingray with truss rod wheel, so approx 1990-2018. Made by the people in California that produced the original EBMM matte black pickguards back in the 90s / 00’s, this is one I custom ordered a few years ago. But my bass is now HH so I have a similar replacement. It’s got some scratches, as pictured, but you don’t want a shiny new pickguard on your 30 year old instrument right? 😊 £35 posted
  20. I used to have a cheapy 8 string ,and didn’t really gel with it . Sounded a cross between mr. Tambourine man and a Greek wedding. This looks much better , with better string intonation etc . Put this with a distortion pedal ,and you have instant Kings X ! Glwts
  21. This bridge is ‘as new’ and still in the original packaging. Main features, chrome, 18 mm string spacing, brass saddles, 7-hole screw attachment Dimensions: 100 x 58 x 11 mm - Made in Japan For what its worth this fits the V7 & V8 Sire Basses.
