There's another school of thought that says you shouldn't take a sander to your already slightly mojo'd bass. Go back to Relic School, pal. For whatever reason, people do seem to be prepared to pay fairly silly money for once-derided CBS-era Fenders, but why would anyone think that 20 minutes with the wet & dry will make them pay even more? I agree to the school of thought of worn ones being good ones, Especially when its happened to a custom shop bass Then again the fretless is probably the best fretless i have ever played. You can see the real wear - eg the little dark patch in the middle of the bare wood on the back shot & the rubbed & grimy-looking areas on the front. The rest's been scratched & flaked off by the looks of it. And someone should tell him that "plenty of fret wear" [u]isn't[/u] a desirable sign of relic'ing! J. The eBay bass looks like (as Bassassin points out) someone has deliberately flaked off large areas of paintwork in a very unauthentic way. The early paint/poly finishes tend to come off like that ( the ploy on the natural finishes doesnt)- not very pretty, but could play and sound good......
