Coming on too strong and belittling the OP is a classic online blunder. It puts them and others off, and makes this forum less useful.

Im not sure if thats correct tbh. Asking for other peoples input and opinions is always going to be tricky if you won't give all the info ( builders name ) and then get offended at the end. Ive only ever found that 99% of the people on here are genuine and are willing to help anyone sort out a situation. Theres the odd one of course... Hopefully he gets the bass he wants and originally ordered.

I am not offended. I just don't think its very constructive to be told 'get a grip and do what I say'. I appreciate the input though.

That photo was taken at quite a weird angle. Here's another.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be that person, but to me, this photo is obviously taken at quite an angle, yet the E and G strings appear to be similar distance from the edge of the fretboard.

That can't be right. What would be great is a flat straight shot from bridge to headstock. I'm guessing it might have left you already tho?

It's quite a deceiving photo that one. Even the strings appear to be passing the pick-up's in the right place.

I would love to see a photo at the same angle from the other side of the bass. Not so great from that side I bet.

I agree and hope my comment wasn't taken as endorsing the "get a grip" sideswipe.

The bass is gone now, this is the only other photo I have taken from his bench. The bridge doesn't have adjustable string spacing.

If these are his pics before he sent it, you cant see the scrapes near the bridge that you can see on yours after delivery. Must have happened in the packing/shipping/storage stage.

This is probably not adding any value to the conversation but here goes. Isn’t the body shape essentially the same as a Jaguar bass? The difference is in the electronics, so apart from that aspect, I struggle to see how this could be described as a prototype. Sorry, I know that didn’t add any value but it did seem like a poor excuse for shoddy work.

I’m glad the luthier is sorting it. Hold his/her/their feet to the fire. I still think you should be given a part refund/discount for the inconvenience. I hope it works out for you.

Who they?

This isn't X or Truth Social - most people on here care about their basses and about each other.

All good! Yes it is exactly the same, the only difference is the control layout so you're right.

Dodgy luthiers stay in business through customers like this. They send out shonky rubbish knowing that some customers are marks who won't ask for refunds and will keep the identity of the builder a secret so others can fall into the same trap.

The relationship of the strings to the poles on the pickups is utterly irrelevant to the sound.

But, when they're completely skew-whiff it is indicative of a lack of attention to detail from the builder.

No, he's not in the UK.

Because Letts was kicked out of the UK for being a gigantic Jabroni?

Aye, until the first kick goes in.
