Jad Freer, just because he sounds like someone I’d get really annoyed by. I’m not even sure he’s a person or not but if he was I bet he’d drive either a Tesla, Juke or a VW camper van

My Rics have white pickguards to protect them when I'm playing with a pick; I mostly don't use the controls and sometimes play them through a Trace Elliot Elf... oops!

However, I do agree on the techs are not luthiers thing ("My luthier changed the pickups").

Teslas and Jukes on the road: I often wish I had an RPG to blast them off the roads.

Also, over the weekend I've three times been stuck behind dullards in Volvos, who probably think they are being safe drivers when they're doing 10mph below the speed limit ("no, it's 'up to' 60mph") (actually, one of them was doing 35 in the 60 road and then sped up to 37 at the next 30 sign - go figure).

Yeah we get that a lot around here. Very long road with bits that are 50/60/40 and most people just do the whole thing at 47ish (including the 40)

Thats every redneck woman in the deep south. To make it more simple,  their second first name is nearly always Lynn (Amber-Lynn, Tammy-Lynn, Christi-Lynn etc, etc). I believe there was a whole bit about this in the film Ted

Visually out of place basses and guitars. I was in a pop punk band for about 9 months and I played a sea foam green, maple necked G&L SB2 because that looked great. My replacement (who does an otherwise fantastic job) plays a sunburst jazz with a rosewood board. I wouldn't play my purple Spector in a blues band, I wouldn't play my sunburst scpb in a doom metal band (although that's not as egregious and you arguably could because p basses go with everything).

 

If you only have one or two basses then crack on, but if you have a collection and you bring the Musicman Bongo to an indie rock gig then more fool you. And I should know, because I did and I felt silly doing it.

Nonono, I mean people whose surname is a first name, not people like Sue Ellen Ewing or Lee Bob Jackson.

I take whatever I fancy taking. If that means an Esh Poseidon at a folk club or a headless Sei anywhere (but most notably at an R&B gig), then that's fine by me. If anyone has a problem with it, it's their problem, not mine.

There’s a road I take regularly that’s a 60/30/60. Nobody seems to go above or below 40 mph along any of it and then you can’t overtake because there’s a train of them! The irony is they complain 60 is dangerous yet speed through the village!

I know there are a lot of people who share your point of view. I play a Dingwall and I would imagine I'd not be allowed into a lot of bands because I've got such a space-age looking bass but I think I'd rather not be in those anyway.

I have a Jackson Charvel complete with pointy headstock that I played in a function band for years, until I decided it didn't really look right.

 

I ended up buying a Mahogany Ibanez. 

 

I then played the Ibanez in a thrash metal band for a few gigs, completely oblivious that maybe the Charvel would have looked a lot better.

Band have to live with what I decide to bring along on the day! Turned up for a dep with my Hohner B2 once, and they loved it.

Depends I suppose. I think I could play whatever in my hard rock band, but in my life I've been in two bands with an 'image', pop punk and indie. I guess the extreme example would be a tribute band.

This was on my list but somehow I tried this in Bass Direct over the weekend and it followed me home. I'm really not a fan of white pickguards but this bass was all sorts of shades of amazing in both feel and sound palette. I even liked the price. I had to do it. There are options to configure a darker colour on the Public Peace website but not sure I can be bothered 🙂 Shout out to Adam their newest staff member. Really cool guy.

It's other people's irrational prejudices. Although I've never had a problem taking a headless fretless 5 string to auditions, so maybe there aren't that many irrationally prejudiced people around, we just assume there are.
