1987 I was 13, so could have revelled in Bon Jovi, Dio, Metallica, Anthrax,Wasp and Cinderella at Donington.

I’d have been well up for that.

(Reality check to self -  at the time I lived 200 miles away, did a paper round and had no money. Bummer.)

CCR with 2 chart entries!  I was 12 for most of 1969 but could probably hum or sing most of these.  My sister is 5 years older than me and used to listen to the charts constantly so I was exposed to this stuff from quite young.

Out of curiosity I had a look at the 1969 top 20, I know some of them but didn’t realise sweet Caroline was that old

In '69 I'd have been 9. By the time I was 13, my hobby/interest was astronomy and my musical interest was classical... Fifty years later and my hobby list still includes astronomy, but a lot of others as well such as photography, bookbinding etc., and my main musical interest is still classical (but I do include other genres these days) and I play cello in an orchestra etc.

It is totally scary that this was 54 years ago.  The only one I don't remember -as a song - is the last one :)

No older brother, I guess? Mine was nearly three years older than me, so I grew up listening (on a Dansette) to the Beatles and the Stones and the Monkees.

I'm the oldest child. TBH when I was growing up it just wasn't a very music-orientated household, and "pop" music was very much frowned upon. This is despite the fact that my dad was a competent piano  player (I never heard him play once but there are photos of him playing when he was younger) and my mum is extremely musical - violin at school, learnt the guitar (for her teaching job) at the same time as me and for a long time was much better than I was, since then she has gone on to sing in several notable choirs and now in her 90s plays in an oldies ukulele group that probably does more gigs a year than me!

On the day that I was born Elvis was #1 with It's Now or Never.  Thirteen years later it was Slade with Merry Xmas Everybody.  Weirdly (or not) the Slade tune is the song we will be playing at gigs this festive season.

That's impressive. I thought my 'musical memory' was pretty darned good, but there's plenty on that list that I don't recall at all.

Agreed on Max Romeo, but also (for me) Joe Dolan, Lou Christie, Karen Young, Donald Peers. Who?

So I recognise 45 out of 50 for the act performing them, but even then I struggle with some of the songs ... there's seven of those 45 that I couldn't hum if my life depended on it. 😂

Same as you Jack, 48 out of 50 artists, but several more songs I don't recognise. Karen Young and Donald Peers - and I used to work in a record shop/jukebox record supplier specialising in oldies!
