cetera Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Had the 1st rehearsal with the new 'Journey' tribute 'Raised On Journey' on Sunday. Played my new purple/blackburst Spector Euro CST through MY GK400RB into the studio's own TE410 with just my Chorus pedal (for when required). Boosted the mids on the GK for that Ross Valory bass tone and 'Bob was very definitely my Uncle'! Everyone had done their homework, including splitting the harmony vocals and I have to say that we sounded damn impressive for a 1st bash through! Looking forward to nailing the finer points and taking it all to the next level 😎 8 Quote

Stub Mandrel Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Rehearsals with two bands in two days. Monday, quite mellow, nearly all new songs, straightforward and went well. No Matter What by Badfinger is a gem of a track. Today, the originals. More arranging and I had my first proper go at three part harmony*. We decided we needed to a brief funky interlude, we jammed and it turned into Funky Town. Also had a random extended blues jam, which was fun. *Actually I was only singing one part. 4 1 Quote

Badfinger album is a classic that everyone should have. Such a tragic story behind them. Dave 1 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Had my last rehearsal with The Spacewasters before I leave the band last night. We have a gig on Friday which will be my last gig so was a quick run through the set to establish anything we needed to work on. Answer was no, as all sounded great. A bittersweet evening for me, I have to leave as gigging just knackers me in so much now, but the band sounded so good and I really enjoyed it. Still, plenty with far more to moan about than this so won’t complain. 4 4 Quote

Its like the ideal family. Do you have something else in mind ? Studio work or sit down Jazz gigs ? Dave Quote

It’s ideal as we play 4 or 5 songs, take a break, then repeat throughout the rehearsal. Never get to the point where fatigue sets in. It’s my ultimate aim to get down to just the one Berg (the one I’ve commissioned), the current two being interim instruments. Though will possibly keep the latest Lionel as well. 1 Quote

Marvin Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Rehearsed Sunday morning and last night as we're trying to bring a new guitarist up to speed. To be honest I think we shouldn't have rehearsed Sunday and allowed the guitarist to learn more of the material. That aside, they were good rehearsals. We got through a good amount of material. And the sound and mix are so much better now, especially for me. With our previous guitarist, there seemed to be nowhere sonically for me to sit, his volume and tone filled everything. I don't know how he managed it. Now, everything seems to sit so much more comfortably with each other. I've got a tone I'm loving at the moment and it makes playing so much more enjoyable. 4 Quote

Fantastic singer (i think i've mentioned that before) and the band sounds so sweet. Love the overall feel of your band. I'd buy that. Dave Quote
