Well, I finally cut a deal with Bassbros recently after being a bit of a voyeur for some time.

The deal was struck with Will over the course of several WhatsApp messages-and I had to prompt him a couple of times-but otherwise I reckon they over delivered.

I received a fair trade-in and my new bass arrived exactly as described on a day of my choosing, perfectly set-up with new strings of my choice.

I'll be back.

What bass did you pick up?

I like dealing with them too. Two basses so far, both good experiences.

Has anyone else found that the Bassbros website has an issue with search filters? Looking specifically for 5-string basses, I get this result on both Chrome and Firefox:

bassbros.jpg.b515379c559ce351d9a184f0b359bc50.jpg

Not sure whether it's at Bassbros's end or whether it's one of my multiple anti-advert filters.

Same for me a few days ago.

Had several good dealing with Will.  Currently got my eye on a few tasty things on their site (pending sale of my items on here!)

So a newish Bass shop just down the road from the other local specialist !

https://bassbros.co.uk

I popped over the other day to look at an Ashdown LB550 head. They work on appointments which is actually really nice no hanging about while people slap expensive basses to death. It a small ish place in a rural setting but about to expand in the same place I was met by name and looked after really well. I did a part ex of my MarkBass TTE  801 for the Ashdown and got a very fair price and a good deal The their bass stock is a bit different to BD .Still enough high end dream basses but a lot of mid price workhorses with a special focus on Jap Fenders and other gems.

Give then a try they deserve success.

Glad you had a good experience there. BassBros have been around a few years now and quite well known within the bass community :)

Anyone having luck with their 'Sell your bass' link? Haven't had a reply in over a week.

I sent an email with a few pictures of the bass I wanted to sell. Got a prompt reply. Perhaps the link has a slight glitch?

Nothing BassBros works for me via email.  I never get a response.  I've switched to Whatsapp and that works fine.

Whatsapp works for me too but no response to my last trade enquiry. I traded elsewhere in the end.

I traded something into Bassbros and whilst it was a good experience overall they weren't amazing at email. Give them a ring and speak to them, it'll probably get their attention...

Does anyone know why two of the biggest and best bass-only shops are both in Warwickshire, and one of the biggest and best bass-only brands around is called Warwick? Does Warwick Davis play bass too?

I might be wrong but I thought Will at Bassbris had previously worked for bass direct. It’s a convenient mid-point in the country, I’ve stopped by on the way to elsewhere before.

Only slight correction is the two biggest and best bass-only stores to my knowledge are Bass Direct and The Bass Gallery in London. And that's no disrespect to BassBros 😊 ps. BassBros also sell guitars.

Allow me to once again look at the email thing from the shop's side:
IME as a former shop owner (mainly high-end sea kayaks), email is the least efficient way of really helping customers and also the least efficient way of surviving as a shop.

Of course, there's a huge difference between the email:
     - "Could I visit the store on Sunday when it's officially closed? "

and the email (of which I've had more than enough) :
     - "Your kayak "Greenlander" vs. competitor's kayak "Transporter". Discuss. "

There are many aspects to this, but among those:

- It starts with half-interested customers firing short emails at several shops at a time, demanding lengthy answers.

- It's incredibly time consuming to answer well, especially when you do not know the customer in question, and do not know their aims or their needs.

- Even when you decide to answer well, there's no impressive revenue as a result. Revenue comes from people phoning in and especially from people actually visiting the shop and trying out the kayaks that might fit.

I could go on and on.

A quick, live, exchange of thoughts, the shop asking the right questions and responding well to the answers (and in my case: seeing the customer on the water) helps the customer best and at the same time helps keep the shop afloat.

My website specifically asked people to avoid email because of its inefficiency.
