STOLEN!

my musicman stingray 4 string was stolen the other day, so i thought i'd tell everyone about it, just in case it travels!!

its a 2002 ish stingray in dark trans purple, 3 band eq, and before it was taken away from me it was without scratchplate (anyone want to buy a black musicman scratchplate? :P). it's in the usual skb musicman hardcase, with lots of stickers on it etc. unfortunately i can't remember the serial number, but i'm guessing there's not that many dark trans purple stingrays in the uk!

any help would be much appreciated, just email me at [email protected].

also stolen was a Korean Fender Light Ash Strat, natural finish with the black scratchplate, so they may well turn up together!

thanks for reading ;)

if you see this bass anywhere apart from this photo, please tell me!

Bad news dude. Whereabouts in the country are you? Any particular features on the bass? Dents, dings, scratches? The stickers on the case?

it was stolen from Swansea in South Wales, from a barn in the middle of nowhere.....

the bass had the usual wear that you would expect from a bass of it's age, noticable ones from memory is a chip down to the wood on the top horn (you can just about see it in the picture), and one or 2 others that aren't that noticable. i was almost through to the wood where i put my thumb, but that could easily be covered up if he/she fitted a scratch plate.

stickers on the case: a 'firebreathing penguins' sticker, a QOTSA sticker, fuzzorama sticker, obselete industries sticker, five horse johnson sticker. i think that may have been it.

cheers for interest guys! i've aquired a cort gb 94 to play in the meantime, but it's not the same ;)
Sorry to hear that mate. I reckon that's every musicians nightmare to have their gear stolen. Hope it turns up soon.
innit! the amount of times i've thought about getting insurance, but then thought there's no point as "it'll never happen to me". a bit of a lesson learned there!

doesn't help i found out it was stolen 2 hours before i was due to play a gig, PANIC! ;)

Best of luck in getting your baby back. But sadly gents I think with the economic climate being the way that it is, but I'm sad to have to say this but I think we might see a lot more posts like this on here. I hope that I am wrong though.
Good look with your search
I'll keep my eyes peeled for it here in Cardiff.
cheers man. i've run every retailer east/west/north/south of me that i can think of. luckily swansea is a very small town, and i work in 1 of the 3 music shops here, so if it pops up, i'll know about it! either way, someone's going to be missing a hand by the end of the year!

i've contacted strings and things to see if they can send me the serial number (if thye still have the sales records)

I'll keep an eye open for it in Bristol and Bridgend.

Which of the music shops in Swansea do you work in? Cranes? Speed? Music Station? I know 'em all... ;)

Really hope you find it m8.

I would stick a picture of the bass up in as many music shops etc as is possible - I found a stolen Jaydee about 2 years ago. I was in Fair Deal music in Birmingham where a guy had put up a note and picture depicting said stolen bass. It was one of a pair of custom basses, both in a very unusual greenburst finish. Two days later, I found it advertised (with a pic) on the net - I managed to contact the guy and it was his bass - the police managed to get hold of it, and he got it back. He sent me a reward and lovely letter saying that I'd restored his faith in human nature. I'm sure all members here will be able to keep an eyeball out for it and lets hope it turns up.

I'd also contact shops further afield; that JD ended up in London so it might be an idea to contact shops such as The Gallery, The Bass Merchant, Bass Direct etc etc.

Take care

Nick

I don't want to be cynical but i had CR500 motocross bike stolen years ago from a shop garage 'guarded' by our loud but soft family dogs. Yes it turned out to be an acquaintance of my brothers. Suffice to say he never stole anything again. Have a think about your circle of friends and those on the outside, you know friends of friends. Be discreet when making inquiries but these things are either random bad luck or close to home.

good luck on getting it back.

man, i'm pretty much the only person who thinks it isn't someone that i know. well, it's kind of more i'm hoping that it isn't someone i know. if it is, it complicates things, because then i'm going to have to remove the hand of someone i know, which will be a lot harder than removing the hand from someone i don't know, conscience overload!

thank you all!

octavedoctor: i work in rowlands on st helens road (the shop with the worst bass section out of the lot, the shame!). i worked for speed for about 6 years though, they finally went out of business before christmas though, poor bastards!
