1. it's a SVT 2 x 10 with adjustable HF horn. it also comes with a spare horn, just for good measure! it's about 5 years old, i've owned it from new, and has the usual wear and tear. i'll get some closeups asap, for now here's a picture of it as part of my rig that i recorded with last month
2. update: i have the serial number! it's E25499. unfortunately i don't think this will help, as it's probably been sold for some smack!
3.
I don't want to be cynical but i had CR500 motocross bike stolen years ago from a shop garage 'guarded' by our loud but soft family dogs. Yes it turned out to be an acquaintance of my brothers. Suffice to say he never stole anything again. Have a think about your circle of friends and those on the outside, you know friends of friends. Be discreet when making inquiries but these things are either random bad luck or close to home. good luck on getting it back.
man, i'm pretty much the only person who thinks it isn't someone that i know. well, it's kind of more i'm hoping that it isn't someone i know. if it is, it complicates things, because then i'm going to have to remove the hand of someone i know, which will be a lot harder than removing the hand from someone i don't know, conscience overload! thank you all! octavedoctor: i work in rowlands on st helens road (the shop with the worst bass section out of the lot, the shame!). i worked for speed for about 6 years though, they finally went out of business before christmas though, poor bastards!
4.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for it here in Cardiff.
cheers man. i've run every retailer east/west/north/south of me that i can think of. luckily swansea is a very small town, and i work in 1 of the 3 music shops here, so if it pops up, i'll know about it! either way, someone's going to be missing a hand by the end of the year! i've contacted strings and things to see if they can send me the serial number (if thye still have the sales records)
5.
Sorry to hear that mate. I reckon that's every musicians nightmare to have their gear stolen. Hope it turns up soon.
innit! the amount of times i've thought about getting insurance, but then thought there's no point as "it'll never happen to me". a bit of a lesson learned there! doesn't help i found out it was stolen 2 hours before i was due to play a gig, PANIC!
6. it was stolen from Swansea in South Wales, from a barn in the middle of nowhere..... the bass had the usual wear that you would expect from a bass of it's age, noticable ones from memory is a chip down to the wood on the top horn (you can just about see it in the picture), and one or 2 others that aren't that noticable. i was almost through to the wood where i put my thumb, but that could easily be covered up if he/she fitted a scratch plate. stickers on the case: a 'firebreathing penguins' sticker, a QOTSA sticker, fuzzorama sticker, obselete industries sticker, five horse johnson sticker. i think that may have been it. cheers for interest guys! i've aquired a cort gb 94 to play in the meantime, but it's not the same
7. my musicman stingray 4 string was stolen the other day, so i thought i'd tell everyone about it, just in case it travels!! its a 2002 ish stingray in dark trans purple, 3 band eq, and before it was taken away from me it was without scratchplate (anyone want to buy a black musicman scratchplate? ). it's in the usual skb musicman hardcase, with lots of stickers on it etc. unfortunately i can't remember the serial number, but i'm guessing there's not that many dark trans purple stingrays in the uk! any help would be much appreciated, just email me at [email protected]. also stolen was a Korean Fender Light Ash Strat, natural finish with the black scratchplate, so they may well turn up together! thanks for reading if you see this bass anywhere apart from this photo, please tell me!
8. as i said before, sx basses are available in the uk at the same money, just in select shops. i'll get a list of who stocks them up when i'm back in work on tuesday.
9.
Hey man... They're difficult to find over here i've found. Theres a shop in Ireland that does them or has done them, and a few other but stock is thin on the ground from what i've seen anyway. Im considering getting a basic P-Bass from Rondo anyway if i enjoy my first couple of weeks playing like i think i will. Its nice to have shiny things and at their prices i cant think of a good excuse not to.
the shop i work in stocks them, so if anyone wants one, let me know!
10.
got the TalkBass guys to blame for wanting an SX but it'll still be delivered to my door for around £140 depending on model so its a pretty good deal in my eyes.
hello from a new guy to a fellow new guy! you can get those SX basses for pretty much the same money if not cheaper in the uk. the shop has got to be part of a buying consortium to get them, but they're around. either way, you've bought a different bass now, so i guess it doesn't matter! just thought it would be a handy thing for people to know
11. Ampeg SVT 3 SWR Big Ben Musicman Stingray MXR Bass Di for extra fat. will post a picture of my old cmi 2 x15 and peavey head when i find it again
12. as the other guy said, you should be able to get the shop to order in whatever colour you want. however, you'll lose any discount that might happen to be on the bass, and it takes away the try before you buy bit unless they're willing to not take a deposit.
13. hello! thought i'd join up for some bass porn chats i play in a band (http://www.myspace.com/tabularasasounds), play a musicman stingray through an SVT2 and a SWR Big Ben. Various other things too such as a late 60's (apparantly) CMI 2x15 cab, a 70's Peavey Head, and various other goodies. i also work in a music shop, so get paid to sit down and play for most of the week
