Handbox Audio WB-100 - new 120w tube head (pics)

Recommended Posts

Hey gang

As everyone knows, I'm a self-confessed a Handbox Audio fanboi.

Leszek's been working on a new compact 120w tube head - the WB-100 - and he's just posted pics of one on Facebook. Yum.

If I get any more details, I'll post them here. There's a Facebook post here, too.

Fantastic.  I suggested to Leszek a while back that putting it into a compact case was the way to go, and he has!

Looking forward to hearing the full spec on this.

Out of interest, I've just asked him **the** question... €950 at the current exchange rate.

Boom, and there it is :)

Very nice and not a bad price considering... 300 quid less than Ashdown's CTM100...

So, should we work out who wants one and ask for a limited Basschat run at a discount? ;)

Then me! :) So it's 14" wide and 16kg?? Ooh, yeah... 120 valve watts is very, very LOUD.

Do I even want to look near this thread since my Burman is still in a state of disrepair...

Get it fixed! It's one hell of an amp, if a little weighty...

What's the thinking on the Mids? Is everything supposed to be handled by the Contour control?

Personally, the fewer knobs the better for me, and I don't get on at all with parametric Mid controls, so I ain't complaining.

Presumably it’s similar to the R400, so when it’s ‘flat’, it has virtually zero baked-in EQ. You can scoop the mids by bumping the bass / treble (or use contour knob), or increase them by reducing the bass and treble.

That said - I’ve never wanted/needed to increase the mids on the R400 - from the start, they shine like no other amp I’ve owned.
