Holy bidding wars Batman!

That's quite a final price.
Amazing find. Fingers crossed it needs relatively little doing to make it usable.
Please keep this thread updated as it's really interesting (yes I'm a nosey git :D).

And yes if you zoom in it clearly says JTM 45 at one end and MKII at the other.

Someones buying the beers me thinks !!!

Thats a JTM 45 allright, please tell us you have not juiced it up yet :gas:.

I would get some advice from Marshall about what to do, what I mean is independent advice, not a person that you don't know !!!

Marshall are always extremely helpful AND independent.

And the cab you lucky :yarr:

Coincidentally, I went for a curry in Stony Stratford today. We sat on the next table to Terry Marshall - Jim Marshall's Son. Terry is well known around here from local jam nights - he's an awesome Sax player. My son used to build amps and had made a JTM 45 copy - they were chatting about it and Terry was telling my son how the 'T' in JTM stands for 'Terry' because 'JTM' stands for 'Jim and Terry Marshall'. A lovely guy who had loads of time for us!

Lovely amp.

The speakers will have a date code stamped on the cork gasket... you would have to remove one from the cab to read it. I wouldn't hurry if I were you, the amp's far more important.

I would NOT take this amp to Marshall. They can on occasion have a very cavalier approach to originality. There are very likely repairers' names that amp collectors would respect more, though it make take a bit of research to find the right one.

The amp is 65, probably early part of H2. Added output jack, one switch changed and the panel lamp changed too. Two caps changed on the board (routine). Board looks to have been out, per wiring diagram for the OT secondaries.

DO NOT send it to Marshall. Their archivist, Phil Wells, is a lovely guy, but knows little about vintage Marshall amps (curious, but true). Marshall would also need to fit an IEC kettle power lead to conform to regulations.....which would kill the value.

Cab is a recovered pinstripe style. Tolex isn't original. The drivers are of different vintages, the older being the "Celestion LTD" 25W......but it was made post-69. The other driver is newer still, so neither were contemporaries of the head. Because of their age, the date codes on the drivers will be printed in black on the chassis, not the gasket.

It's a lovely amp, I'd like to buy it and have all the parts to put it back to factory spec. If it's for sale, PM me.
