Just what I was thinking.

Been looking at the Demeter 400, but not sure if this will sound similar. It's got drive for starters!

Nah - it looks like the old Engl Ironball guitar amp that has been around for years. I suspect it is a bass version.

There are a few videos on YouTube, but they are, without exception, pointless crap!

I was thinking exactly the same thing! They need to send one to me so I can do a proper video review :)

Guitarist from previous band really rates his Engl gear.

Can't find a decent vid either. If someone does please post the link.

I found this. Dunno if you judge it as a poor video or not!

By virtue of the fact its just slap, yes, very poor.

Not really hearing the amp are we?

I remember seeing this before - what a complete waste of time as a promotional video for an amp!

There's very little info on the pre amp that I've seen but pretty sure it has a pair of ecc83 valves in there.

I saw some stuff from NAMM in January that very much positioned it as a 'rock' amp and using the drive control to generate valve distortion.

Very different to the Demeter which isn't at all designed to distort.

Well he could have put some clean trousers on - scruffy looking get!

There's a bit at 2:08 where he looks like he needs a poo but apart from that it's not great

Watched. Can't do that myself, and therefore learned nothing about how the amp would work for me. Most baffling bit is when he steps on a pedal and it just gets a bit louder, with a just discernible amount of drive. Doesn't demonstrate much. Engl should be able to do better!

I resurrect this topic because I discovered Engl Ironbass E1055 just few days ago.
Meanwhile had someone collected additional opinions?
