Erm, what happened on your plan of trying to get down to 3 basses? ;) :D
I saw this on FB the other day, looks really nice, although I agree, I prefer the maple neck as well.

Tell ya what Dougie, you Mothers give the Toon McCall and I'll go down to three basses :D

I think we need to have an intervention Karl. Your GAS is getting out of hand and hurting those around you. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

These guitars have feelings you know!

I think you are probably right on all counts

That ash/tort/rosewood combination looks terrific. I remember when these were current and they were excellent basses.

If you will indulge me for a moment whilst I put my anorak on, I happen to know for a fact that top Atlanta- based session player Preston Crump ( yes, that is his real name) , who you've heard on loads of hip hop tracks produced by Dr Dre as well as on records by Outkast and En Vogue, uses this exact same bass as his first choice instrument in the studio, and it's the bass that producers most request for him to use:

Preston chillin' with his bass at Ikea:

Yes chaps, because I'm not getting enough grief as it is
And then, my old Yam Att Spec comes up with some super mods done since she left me :dash1:

PS, Dingus with such great info (and photo  ) please feel free to be an anorak any time :i-m_so_happy:

That's pretty much as good a bass as Fender ever made. Fender basses have an inverted U price/quality relationship - low priced models tend to disappoint as do high priced models, but the mid priced models are often outstanding instruments for the money. To cap it all - IMO of course - PJs are the most versatile gigging basses out there and rosewood necks win hands down over maple. Only reason I'm not buying this is the Jazz width neck

And the only reason I'm selling it is to get the maple boarded one
Thanks Chris.

Edit. Chris, we must have been typing at the same time. You have the eyes of a sh*t house rat (that's a compliment to your optical prowess).
My eyes are rubbish but I've just measured the nut. Best I can see is 1 and 5/8ths inches and between 41 and 42 mm.
Ad to be adjusted accordingly with my apologies, and thanks to Chris.

The tempting answer, yes of course.
The real answer, not at all Chris, thanks for saving me selling something incorrectly advertised that may have come back and bitten my nethers.

Ha ha, was worried the first two posts quoted above constituted a written contract :D

Good luck with the sale, it's a lovely bass. Personally I'd hang on to that one, much nicer than the maple counterpart.

I like it. It's like a John Deacon with an extra bit.
Sadly I am unable to make you an offer as you have something else I covet far, far more...

Not any more, the bass that must not be named has been sold, via Bumtree, she's gone I'm afraid :P !
This one is still currently here though!
