Evil Undead Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Price is £725, I typed it wrong above and can't change it! Here's my fantastic Fender P - wonderful bass but I'm putting it up for sale or trade for several reasons. I've put it up for sale before and have withdrawn it, but it's time now Reasons - Firstly, my hands aren't as good as they used to be (a very sore point, literally) so a slim neck width is the way forward, and secondly, I find myself favouring bridge pickups these days. Currently leaning towards a straight sale, but could be tempted by trades, try me This is in great condition, purchased new by me in 2011. I think. It has the 60th anniversary plate on, but the serial dates it to 2010. It is starting to age slightly and has a little paint sinkage because it has the thin lacquer, but I can't see any dings. A few tiny 1-2mm cracks in the finish only at the neck pocket (I'll try and get good photos ASAP but it's barely noticeable). Neck and frets are excellent. Has a thin shim because I like the action super low (it's at 1.2mm currently) but this probably isn't needed for most folks to be honest. Strung with Chromes 40-100 custom light, they're broken in nicely and probably don't need changing for years Comes with OHSC (the nice molded one with TSA approved latches) and adjustment tools. The pickguard was tort but has been swapped out for black, but it's a genuine Fender replacement. And it has Dunlop dual design strap buttons on Edit to add weight - 8.4lbs. I'm in sunny Gloucester, and can drive to meet within reasonable distance. I'd prefer to do any deal through a meet rather than post. Price reduced to £700 - willing to consider offers. I've also taken some better photos. Cosmo Valdemar Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 What's all this about bridge pickups?! Heresy!
Evil Undead Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013
What's all this about bridge pickups?! Heresy!
I know! I always thought I was a Precision girl through and through but I find myself really enjoying the clarity of the bridge pickup. Plus the neck, although slim for a P, is a killer for my knackered hands.
Fionn Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Good thinking re: a high-end Soundgear. I had a SDGR1200 in a past life. It had the thinest neck I've ever played .... Uber skinny.
Evil Undead Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013
That Precision is gorgeous, Mel
Thanks, I know it's my faybret. If it weren't for the great big neck on it... I used to find it verrrrry comfortable but my wrist doesn't like it any more. Getting old!
Graham Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I love the look of that - my favourite Precision colour combination, and I really want to try one of these post 2008 Fenders as I think the neck would suit me really well (based on what I've read), and I find myself pretty much using just the P pickup on bass these days. Added to that, I think what I have would suit you perfectly - a Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn which has a jazz neck and is slim by jazz standards and has been pro-modded to add a matched Lindy Fralin jazz pickup at the bridge to make it P/J. However, Gloucester is just too far to travel for me.........I appreciate in retrospect this post helps no-one, lol
basslondon Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Is this of any interest: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181159241343 thin neck and bridge pickups and active to boot.
Stag Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Id give a Geddy Lee Jazz a run out... Fantastic thin neck on them, mine is splendid
Cosmo Valdemar Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013
I've never tried one, but I've read that they're as thin, if not thinner, than Soundgears. What would you say?
They are seriously slim. I has one for a while, got cramp in my fretting hand after about ten minutes of playing. But I do like a chunky neck as you know. If you fancy a J, the Geddy Lee might be the one for you.
Thor Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 +1 on the Geddy - love mine - super skinny neck and I find mine fairly lightweight too! Nice P by the way - very tempting, love the colour combination!
Norm Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013
Now that is a fantastic looking P bass.....
+1, Does it for me too!
