1. Best way to sell a PA speaker? any advice on that? In terms of shipping and website.
2. I need to know the make and model etc. I asked him for these and he said 'don't you trust me'! as if. So he never gave them me. He isn't giving me the money, he wants to give me the speakers so i have to sell myself. Or could i use them and just buy a mixing desk to get another PA?
3. Thing is are they realistic though. I think this may be the best option as i do just want rid of this guy! Been a complete nightmare to work with.
4. This will explain how he came to £63: Hi exact message he sent: I have gone online and seen the value of it all second hand. The mixer and power amp I will keep as it will be used next year. Right The two tops combined second hand are worth :£218 The subs combined second hand valued at £318 The mixer is valued second hand at £ 270 The power amp valued at £329 So if I keep the mixer and power amp its worth £ 599 If you keep the speakers all 4 they combined are worth £536 you can choose to sell or use in a new project. Of course I will pay you the difference Between £599 - £536 = £63. That way its simple fair and we still have to only buy certain gear to complete a complete Pa system if we wanted to use it with future projects.
5. Hi mate. Thank you for taking the time to reply. He is offering me the 4 old speakers back and a paltry £63 - i personally don't think that's reasonable. He has basically said have this or nothing - and if you come on my property i am calling the Police! There's no receipts which makes me feel like there's no hope, and he has kinda got me by the you know what as there in his house.
6. Hi Guys, The band i have been in for 8 years has finally broken up. Right me and the guitarist have had a long standing feud which has festered. 4 of the original members all paid 25% in cash for the PA approx 5 years ago. Them two members left the group and decided to waive their investment in the PA and left it to the two remaining members. Two new members subsequently joined the group and they never put a penny into the PA. Basically the mixer and power amp is the guitarists house and i have a sub speaker. I have asked to get the gear valued and split it 50|50, but he doesn't want to do that as he wants to keep the power amp and the mixer. We can't agree, he has offered me something very unreasonable. What legal rights do i have (if any). One of the original members said he would be a witness and i have a print screen from a prior convo where the guitarist admits we co-own the PA. What can i do?
7. Got a nut missing for one of the connector inputs on the back of my 4x10. Anyone know where I can get them. There's a beer at the cyber bar for anyone who helps.
8. Thank you Hamfist, i will certainly try that setting out. The sound was a lot better last night, i guess the environment helped, as it was a carpeted floor and also indoors. Could really feel the low end, i doubt i'll ever play at 8ohms with one cab ever again. I still need to eq a bit better, but i certainly love these cabs, lightweight and pack a punch. Tempted to get the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 with it, will need to review up though. Maybe i'll just have to accept i'll never get a complete sound in a marquee setting.
9. Sent a second pm to you, just so you know. I have received a pm from someone else so i am confused as to why you arn't getting them!!!
10. Yes it's in my sent folder haha. How strange. I will try again now.
11. Ok, cheers guys. Tonight i am playing in a pub so a totally different type of environment. My eq setting are low mid and high mid about 12 o'clock, and high about 2 o clock and low about 3 o clock. I am just playing around with it at the moment, i also had my tweeters on too. I will update you further after tonight's gig.
12. PM sent to you. I will be willing to meet you in Hereford? I have an immaculate Geddy Lee bass if you wan't it.
13. Hi Guys. Recently purchased two new cabs and played with them for the first time last night. My old rig, was a 4x12 Laney cab, into a 270w Markbass head all at 8ohms. (Crap sound, and i often had to volume/gain at 3/4) New rig is 4x10, and 2x10 Genz Benz Focus range, and my same Markbass Head now 450w @ 8ohms with the two cabs connected. Ok, we were playing a decent sized marquee, but i found myself still having to turn up 3/4 of the way!!! I did notice a massive improvement with the high end notes and odd bit of slap cutting through. Also, the cabs are far more responsive and actually react to what my amp tells them to do. I guess my concern is why am i having to turn up so loud? i imagined with more power now i would be under half way on the volume/gain.Also i was sandwiched closeto the rig last night, and if i rang a single note out (at the end of a song) the note just stayed there and got louder and louder, is that just feedback as i was too close to it? Any help appreciated as i'm playing again tonight. Ben
14. Haha, i did exactly that without even reading your reply. Googled them and they are sorting it. Also got a full refund from GAK too. Looking forward to these news babies now.
15. Hello all, yesterday and FCS 410T Genz Benz cab and an FCS 210T Genz Benz cab from GAK, Today i get an email telling me the 210 is now discontinued despite being listed for sale on GAK's site. They have now asked me if i want to go ahead with the 410, but to be honest i want the two cabs too work well together and if i can't source a 210 then why bother with the 410. I'd rather look for a new rig. What a nightmare, do you guys know of a site that sells both of these cabs, or at least a site which sells the 210 then i can ordet the 410 off GAK?
16. Hi Mel, if it's ok i'd like to see if there's any dings or unwanted marks on it? Lovely bass though.
17.
Why don't you just email Markbass and ask them?
Nice one, why didn't i actually think of that!!! Thanks though.
18. Hello all. I have been gigging with a Mark Bass F Series head (limited edition) for a couple of years now. In fact i bought it off here. As i am now seeking to use it at 4 ohms i have entered the realms of needing to know it's maxcimum power output. I have looked online and i can't find an official spec, just seen for sale adverts. People selling them say it's rated 250@8ohms and 450@4ohms. I know it says 450W on the front of the head, but on the back of the head on a silver plate it says Power rating = 550W So is my head 450@4ohms or 550@ohms? Here's a pic of it to help you to help me. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Mq&sa=X&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=xbq7HlBHEX8-nM:&imgrefurl=http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/anybody-using-bass-rig-completely-non-us-uk-918111/index2.html&docid=At2EyEbyvjR_0M&imgurl=http://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/markbass-little-mark-f1-limited-edition-315346.jpg&w=3264&h=2448&ei=Ryj5UM2dMc2W0QXMqoD4Ag&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=109946944603662019504&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=186&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:86&tx=71&ty=43
19.
I was guess the GS210 is around 55lbs. That is not heavy in my book. The GS212 should possibly be on casters so that might negate 60 plus lbs to a degree. Not as much as the 410 and 115 you were contemplating, I'd bet.. I would say those GS cabs are a lot or power for your money. That is a proper stage rig and providing you like the sound, would be ALL you need in 99.9% of cases..or else you have some great gigs in your diary. But you might like GB better..
Being honest i need to hear what Aguilar cabs sound like, i have only heard the GB on youtube which i liked. Will try and dig some youtube clips out. Going by watts, the Aguilar's are only offering 50 watts more in power combined arn't they? or am i missing something?
20.
Only you can say whether one cab is better than the other for the music you play and the band you are in. In reality they are all way better than what you are using at the moment. For what I play I would prefer the sound of the Aguilar cabs. But the Genz cabs are very good too, so you'll have to hear them.
Great point there really, i think it's all too easy to get bogged down and over analyse and unduly worry about this kind of stuff. The bottom line is either will be a massive (hopefully) upgrade from my current sound and setup. I think i'll go down the Genz route as it's cost effect and an improvement. Also the GB cabs are apparently quite light, and my Laney weighs a tonne. I have read that the Aggy cabs for sale are both on the heavy side.
21.
Talk to this guy. These cabs are worth the short drive to check them out. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1
Good find Sir. So in your opinion will these two cabs be a better and more powerful option than the Genz Benz cabs i am considering?
22.
Difficult to say.... the cheaper cabs and units are cheap for a reason..so they may not handle high volume that well. By the same token they might do fine...you will have to hear them. If it were me, I'd want more capacity in a cab than that... but then are you putting 275 into a cab? You'll only know yourself, when you put all your kit together and wind it up. The reason that I would have half as much cab power again, than amp power, is that you may not always hear any break up...effects can mask this also.. Sure, that gig will be LOUD, but that happens as well when you lose control. It is always a bit fraught running new kit loud and you get to hear the limits...then you have to stick to that. For me, I don't see the point of trying to get away with running your kit close... if there is a chance of breaking. Headroom... It is nice to have power in hand and not drive things too hard and the sound running away
Just as i was settled on a decision you go and say this!!! I am terribly indecisive. It's only the 300w thing which is deterring me from it.
23.
No worries, 210 on top, for no other reason than it`s going to be lighter than the 410. Will be interested to see what you think of these cabs - a review in order I reckon.
No worries and yes i will post a review of them as soon as i try them out, as a way of saying thanks for all your advice. The only dilemma i have now is working out a way to fit it all in my car!!!
24.
Having used 410 & 210 together, in my view it is a good pairing. The addition of the 210 brings everything up - as in height - so a lot easier to hear, plus, with the extra amount of air being pushed the depth of the sound is great. And, with this amount of speakers you can actually put a fair bit of bass into them and have a punchy, tight full sound. Would be plenty for an outdoor gig. I used a 412 for one, which pushes roughly the same amount, and without going through the pa it was fine, gig was in a marquee. Reckon those Genz cabs will work well - seen the youtube demos and they sound very good, also sounding far more expensive than they actually are.
With risk of embarrassing myself here, would you recommend stacking this rig with the 2x10 on top of the 4x10 or vice versa? I was also impressed with the youtube demo, seems a bargain to me.
25.
The main idea is that you match speaker configurations and manufacturers if at all possible. I.e. 2 410s or 210s will be made to exactly the same spec and react in the same ways at gigs. As long as the 210 and 410 are from the same range of cabs, then they should react in very similar ways too. The biggest issue when mixing speaker sizes and/or manufactures is that you introduce some uncertainty as to how they will behave when put together in different environments (e.g. boomy halls and things like that)
Yeah i plan on getting 410 and a 210 from Genz, and they're from the same range. So even if you purchase a 410 and a 115 from the same range and manufacture there will still be some uncertainty soundwise? Basically, am i right in thinking same speaker sizes is the safest bet?
