The Most Beautiful Bass ever, EVER!

As an antidote to the most ugly bass thread, I'm taking subscriptions for the most beautiful bass ever. I'm voting for the Gibson Thunderbird. Designed by Ray H. Dietrich it embodies the optimism of late 50's Americana. Sat in my living room it looks like a rocket-ship waiting for somewhere to go, and when I strap it on, I'm the Captain baby! :D

Knocks all others into a cocked hat :yarr:

OK I'm biased, but it's got to be my Custom P... for those who have lived in a cave for the last few years... ;)

I was gonna suggest there shouldn't be any Fenders in here. :P
As nice as [s]some[/s] any of the basses above are, none of them would get on my top 10.

I haven't got a suggestion as there's a few I really like with equal measures.

 Eye of the beholder! Each to his own! YMMV! And so on and so forth.

Agreed, I like scroll designs. Hey Spoombung is the top one the new Pachyderm bass from Les Claypool's recent venture? Edit: I googled and it is but it doesn't seem to be in production yet

If the OP is looking for the single most beautiful bass ever doesn't it have to be a full custom build that's a 'one of a kind' - otherwise it's just a bass that's very nice indeed but looks almost identical to a lot of other basses?

This would, therefore, exclude almost all Fenders, Gibsons, Rickenbackers etc.

Obviously individual beauty will be in the eye I the beholder but if something looks near identical to many other basses it's not really going to be THE most beautiful bass ever :(

This recent creation by Jens Ritter is absolutely stunning in the flesh. Pictures really don't do it justice...

Got to admit that is pretty radical! :D

As indeed is this one...

This close-up of the headstock gives a better idea of the amazing fingerboard:

You are on the money and have summed up my exact sentiments regarding the T Bird...it's not a bass, it's a piece of classic art design!

Yep, you're spot on it is the Pachyderm. I'd love one of those basses. I haven't followed the story of the design and production so I don't know if they're available to buy. I'm not familiar with Les Claypol's music but a few people have said it sounds like Stump, so I should check it out I suppose.

More pics here

I'm not normally a fan of Singlecuts and I've while the workmanship is amazing not really wanted to own a Ritter, but got to admit this one is quite something!
