Time for a new strap :) what to get?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Ive had my Levy's 3" strap in XL length (i believe) and it has served me well the last few years considering i'm a fussy bugger.

The only problem is with the material has started to fray and harden: which leaves me with some beautiful rashes and scratches on my neck when i'm rocking out.

Looking at the market lately and i feel liked i've missed something, the prices have risen somewhat :-| i dont think i paid £15 for this pretty awesome and durable strap but now im looking over £25 for the same style.

Im wondering if anyone could recommend me any good straps to go for, for a 6"6 bulky lad who likes 2.5-3".

Webbed or Leather?

Thanks for reading and looking forward to hear some of your suggestions.

BSB

I used a Planet Waves locking strap for the last 12 odd years without a problem. Its the older version of this one.

Not exactly what you're looking for but a good option to keep in mind.

I'm still using the same 3" basic leather straps I bought 25 years ago, they have served me well 3 nights a week since then. They have aged toi a nice soft durable feel. They are so worn in both sides look like polished leather now. I wouldn't pay more than a tenner for a leather strap myself. Purple trading company on ebay do them nice and cheap. No pading or stitching to worry about just a thick lump of leather

I rep this strap Company to Independent Retail Dealers in the United States!!!!

They are made by a 25-year old family run- business with approx. 25 employees that cuts, stitches, sews, and
fabricates them; that's all they do is make Guitar straps. I've been there, interesting process to watch btw.

(every frickin' day I hear some store owner say "I carry Levy's, *&&^ Canadians!)

:o

I use the hidden tail Ranger on my heavier basses. Whether I work for them or not, I feel they are among the best production made straps in the Industry; this is due to the leathers used, the stitching, and the foam padding..

I was using the "Eyeland" variants, having them cut for me to a 43" length (I don't like my Basses hanging around my nutz)
long before they offered me the opp to rep them.

If I'm breaking any UKBASSCHAT rules, PLEASE LET ME KNOW (Nicely) i offer to go again to the Tower of London, where I have been before.

Good Straps, really. Take a peek.

As usual I'll vote for Minotaur:

I've got the Vintage 'Used Look' 4"-wide leather. Very good. €42.
